have any of you wished you did gastric bypass instead
Angelhope82 replied to racheyrach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had time to time that i wish i had but am happy I decided on the band. I still learning with my band. I know friend that lost all weight with bypass but never learned to eat. Its all what u are comfortable with. Pick the surgery you think with work for you. Both surgerys dont promise success, they cant. You can lose just as much with band as bypass. It can be quick or slow. -
3 fills in 1 month - anyone else???
Angelhope82 replied to CSinTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it be different if you were eating food. you dont even know how you handle food. I be concerned unless he doesnt want u to gain while u on liq. mayb then he work backwards. Be careful when u start eating, make him take some out if u cant eat. u also want to learn how to eat again. -

Thanks. I do think i can lose more. Just need to be more strict with everything. Weight came off so easy at first. Even through i am still heavy this is the smallest i been since i can remember so kinda became okay with it. I do want to reach my goals, it will get take a lot longer than normal i guess. I do better when i am strict. Then there is no room to have anything sweet or not exercise. I have been doing better this month. Been working out 4 times a week, which i had stopped. It is amazing how hard it is after stopping. I just need to keep it up. I feel so much better when i keep it up. Starting wt 287- current 220-222. I had a lot up and down putting it on so i guess i should accept a lot up and down taking it off. Again thanks for responding, helpful hearing from others that know how hard it can be sometimes.

2-Week Pre-Op Diet
Angelhope82 replied to Poppadoc88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre- op diet sucks. When I did mine I had to do 5 opifast shakes a day nothing else. Its rough to say the least. You u will tired, hungry and headache at first. Its cause by the carb withdraw. It normal last for the first 2-7 days. But if you stick to it the symptoms will go away and you be able to get through the 2nd week no problem. DRINK lots Water between shakes. I lost 19 lbs on my preop diet and didnt gain it back. Just a jump start to your lose and remember it make the surgery go easier with a little less weight off and a smaller liver. Good luck.... hope you feel better soon. -
I'm so sick of Nay sayers
Angelhope82 replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Count me as a yes. I didnt tell many people just because of that reason. I am a nurse so I get to hear all kinda of interesting "ideas'' from people that think they know what the band is or every wls for that matter. A co-worker recently got gastric bypass, omg you would think she was going to kill her self the comments everyone was making. People just dont understand what either surgery has to deal with. it is a life changing surgery but not a death sentence to never eat food again. Only the 2 people know at work that I told. and this is a 1 1/2 yr later, everyone just thinks i eat smaller healthier meals. You are doing the right thing, RESEARCH for yourself. I had my surgery on a tuesday and back to work friday. Tired but 4 months not even close. Good luck with your journey!!!! -
Wow only 2 shakes the whole day? No other food? how many calories do they want u to have daily. just interested sounds strict. Good luck. my pre-op was 5 shakes a day x2weeks, no food

New with tons of questions/concerns
Angelhope82 replied to overweightny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Q1- Can anyone that has had the ideal surgery and success give me an overview of what to expect? Only thing to remember is it is a tool. How you use it is how it works. Like anything if you fall off track and stop losing it just back to the calorie counting. Surgery itself isn’t bad. Little pain. Q2- What are the rules? What will I never be able to eat? What will I never be able to do? Sad to say it is hard to tell what you can and cant eat after surgery. EVERYONE is different. I can eat anything, paste and bread included, its just ALOT less now and I don’t eat it often. I can eat all meats including steak. Only thing that gives me trouble more than not is scrambled eggs its 50/50 with them. I still don’t drink soda. You can do anything, the band doesn’t stop any activities just a tool to help you eat less. Q3- Do you have any regrets? None. Cause I know if I didn’t I do believe my weight would have just kept going up. It can be a slow process but all good things come in time. Q4- What is the financial impact after the surgery? Groceries, supplements, etc.? I take 1 Vitamin a day by choice. Groceries go down a lot. You be amazed at what you eat after compared to before.
