Going on a cruise... OMG
Angelhope82 replied to jayme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded nov 18, 2008. I went on a cruise about 3 weeks after and have been on 2 after that. i think it might been easier on the cruise. Everything under the sun to pick from so no worries. Just take your time when eating. Good luck and have fun. Weird thing before or after the surgery... I have never gained weight on a cruise. I guess so my chooses no reason to overeat always so much more food . At least that what i tell myself -
Dr. Richard Dicicco - Dr. Dicicco was great!
Angelhope82 replied to Puddytat's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Dicicco did my surgery Nov. 18, 2008. He has been great and his office staff. I am very happy I picked him. -
I am having to do a 5 week class on eating health for life, in the 2 week now. My Doctor makes you go to it before you even meet with him. I am going to be self pay. I already know that for sure. If I stay with this doctor it will cost around $19.500. Seems alot higher then most have paid. This includes fills for a year. I will get the exact numbers in 2 weeks. I picked this doctor because 1. it is close, I don't want to pay go somewhere every time i needed a fill 2. I know lot about the doctor and all the doctors he works with, and the hospital. 3. I really dont want to go to mexico, eventhrough it is less then half the price. I really want someone close just in case something happen in the future. Am I CRAZY for sticking with this doc????

Bathroom Problems
Angelhope82 replied to natedogg7171's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nat- Pepcid AC won't help with that problem. I would try some anti- diarrhea medication. Immodium- should work. But I think your body is just tring to deal with the changes. Try the Immodium , if it doesnt help in 1-2 days. Call the doc -
I am still working on the pre- lap requirment but just wondering if I will ever be able to eat normally again? Not the large amount and don't want or need that, just one day could I eat steak again, or anything that you cant at first? Just scared that wonder be able to ever think about some foods again. I know this surgery is well worth it, is many ways.

Normal Eating ever Again????
Angelhope82 replied to Angelhope82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, hearing that makes me feel better. I know I don't eat normally now, it to much or I wouldn't be here. This site is so great, thanks for the help. I will keep moving forward, I know this will be hard but worth it in the end. -
I am going through the steps now to get the lap band. I really think this will help me, I have tried diet after diet, with 20- 30 lbs lost but then I gain it all back and then some. I sure everyone here understands that. My real question is will I every eat normally again? I know I would be able to eat large amount, thats great. Just will I be able to eat steak again? Will there are be some foods I can not have, or is that just at first? I know right now I am just scared, will it work. Any input please.:help:

Yeah I think you are right. My feeling for food aren't really normal. I sure tring a size 14 not a 24 would make me forget about food. I just hope I can make it their. It is scary to think about, but from what everyone says here it is so worth it. I will try to keep positive. Thanks everyone.

I am planning to get the lap band, I start my "getting healthy for life"class 3/19. Meet w/ MD 4/12. I do have a question on what about after you lose the weight. Does everyone have a lot of extra skin. I have like 140lbs to lose, so will I just "tons " of extra skin no matter what I do. I know it helps that I am only 24, so my skin will do a little of the work on its own, and with working out it can help. So I guess my quesion is - Will I have lots extra skin not matter what or does working out really make a big difference? I really don't want to get surgery to have to remove lots skin/ or just life with it and be happy when I get that healthy???:embarassed::cry

That GREAT, keep up all your hard work. :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Nasty Extra Skin????
Angelhope82 replied to Angelhope82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I know just getting the weight off will be wonderful. My weight is all over not just one area, I guess I will just have to wait and see what I think at that point. It really does seem like a guessing game what you will look like without the weight. I have never been thin, so I even have a slight idea. But I guess that just have to be a bonus surprise. I sure exercise will only make my feel better, even if I don't lose the skin. Thanks for everyone's input, always welcome to hear your ideas. This site in great, I am so happy I found it. I haven't read any judging comment just positive feedback. -
Lap-Band or Gastric By-pass???
Angelhope82 replied to Margi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to do research, and then ask a profession to explain anything you don't understand. I think both surgerys can work, just depend on what you think is better for you and your body. My mom had gastic bypass dec. 2005, she lost 145 lbs and been at goal for a long time. But gastic bypass does have more risk factors. I decided on lap band because it can be taken out if needed, it has low risk factors and you can adjust the band as needed. :welldoneclap: -
Hi My name is Chastity. I have not been banded, I am going to my first info meeting in 4 days. I have done a lot of search, and am very excited. I have been over weight my whole life and finally ready to make a real change. I did have a question. Can anyone tell me how many month before I would be able to get the band done? Just to have a idea. Any other info anyone would like to share. Thanks Chastity:)

Yeah it seens it is alittle different for everyone. I am going to be self pay, so I think it might go a little faster. Overall a lot faster than I would have ever thought.
