I can't believe I have 4 days...just 4. I have been so good on my pre op 2 week diet, but yesterday at a holiday party I ate. Nothing crazy but not food on my pre op diet. I tried to make wise choices. I don't think it ruined my liver and I'm back to the diet now. 14 days of a pre op diet and one night off. Hope my liver didn't grow last night. I hope I don't obsess about it by repeating it over and over as I go into surgery and wake up. I'm feeling guilty but trying to move on and be proud of my self for the other 10 days plus the next 4. -
mine is basically...Average 1200-1300, calories per day carbs 175, Protein 85, fat 12 g 2 shakes a day, 2 Soups a day (can have chunks), 1 yogurt, 1 pudding. I can add a similar meal if hungry, take away a meal if nit hungry. There are guidelines for the Soup calories etc, and the pudding has to be fat free and sugar free. Yogurt is no sugar added. I received a 14 day sample pre op meal plan which helped a lot. Some things alternated in week one: oatmeal, carrots, small apple. I have a sample meal plan for post op meal plan 2 weeks

Lapband Just Did Not Work For Me
4sweeties replied to womanof1000secrets's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just because a person or people loose weight with lapband, does not mean everyone can or that anyone can do it. There are medical reasons that can make this tool not work at its best. I know some insurences and some doctors make sure you go through a lot of medical testing pre surgery to make sure it is safe for you. I hope your doctor did this. Do you think you have a true medical problem causing you to gain weight? If so, try and narrow it down and go to that specialist. An ob, a gastro doctor....whatever area of your body does not seem to be working, see that specialist. Knowledge is power. If it turns out you do not have a medical problem that needs attention, then find a great nutritionist or therapist to help you through this. Do not give up on yourself. Follow the rules and see the doctors. and write a letter to the dr who said you are eating in your room at midnight and let him know how that made you feel. Then move on past him. Write a thank you note to the other doctor who was kind and considerate. Good luck with your journey. -

I'm in NY and having plication with my lapband. Most of the day I am ok with the pre op diet and so proud of myself for sticking to it. However, everyday there are moments when I feel starving. My nutritionist said to eat (really drink) every 2.5 to 3 hours and it's easier. 6 mini meals a day. 2 of them being Protein shakes. 2 can be Soup (soup can have veggies and it doesn't need to be pureed until post surgery). I can also have sugar fee ices and ft free/sugar free pudding. I don't like Jello or I could have that. I would love a few oz of lean chicken or fish like others are allowed. lol...someone always has it worse and someone always has it better. -
I feel the same way. But week 1 of pre op I can have an apple or a few carrots or 5 saltine crackers if I feel the need to chew. Week 2 of pre op diet I can not have those things. It's soooooo hard. Did you step on the scale? Seeing numbers go down is motivating.

The guy on modern family just got it recently but I forgot his name. I think Cam on the show.

How Much Did You Lose In Your First Month?

I read the first 6 weeks are about healing and adjusting to the band. Then it's about losing. -
How Much Water Should You Drink Every Day?
4sweeties replied to Elodie.Landerson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not sure if I'd do the fruit but I have heard of it from my daughter's pediatrician. Fruit does help hydrate because of the high water content. When my daughter was a toddler she did not drink more than a few oz a day total (of anything). She would get dehydrated and end up in the hospital- especially if she was sick the dehydration would kick in quicker. We were told if she likes to eat fresh fruit, encourage it as has a lot of water and will help keep her hydrated. It really did help hydrate her. Of course we were not worried about calories or sugar but about getting her hydrated to help digestion problems, tiredness and IVs to rehydrate. -
I try to go with my husband or a friend. Then I'm not as aware of what others are looking at/might be thinking. But after a few weeks of going with someone, I'm ok to go alone. Hang in their and it gets easier to go alone and block others out. Also, some are not really looking at you, just staring straight, as they work out. People really are thinking about themselves a lot when they are at the gym, not other peoples weight/speed. Keep going and show them how dedicated you are!!!!

I have a pink mask too, becuase I've been through so many masks trying to find one that works. I don't keep it on all night I just rip it off by accident int he middle of the night. I hope when I lose weight I won't need it. But I might. My father is very healthy, has never been over weight and has sleep apena and uses machine. So for some people, heavy weight makes sleep apena more severe, but they will still have apenea at any weight.

So I am trying to plan out my last 3 dinners, with foods I will never have again. I know not the healthy way t go to the hospital bed, but I've been pretty good and I will be 110 percent good after surgery. There's a burger place by my house that is so good people travel from all over for. I will enjoy a last cheeseburger on a bun. I'd like beer at my favorite pub but probably won't happen since it's a work week. I'm trying to think of things I love that might be off limits. Is Sushi? Becuase that will be my Tuesday night dinner if rice and seaweed are hard to swallow with the band and get stuck. Please let me know your experiences. And I also love Pasta with sauted broccoli robe- I'm thinking that might get stuck post band since it sometimes gives me a hard feeling in my throat going down now. So please help me plan my next 3 dinners. I don't feel well right now so I am nt really hungry so these dinners might not even happen. I feel like my sore throat is causing me to be on a pre pre op diet. Hopefully my surgery won't be postponed for a bad cold, sore throat, swollen glands and cough. Going to dr. tomorrow in hopes of getting better. I don't want medicine that's going to enlarge my liver but I don't want a sneezing cold after surgery since I read it hurts to sneeze. Plus I get nervous with anesthesia if I am sick. FIngers crossed. I have 2 weeks and 3 days to get better.

After Surgery, The Nay Sayers Come Out Of The Woodwork
4sweeties replied to AmyBK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe your family and friends didn't say that or to the degree it came out. He was angry and scared and venting, and maybe to make his point stronger he said others feel the same way. Ask him who and exactly what they said when more time passes and he's calmer. Another possible angle is he talked to a family member or friend, or listened, maybe even nodded, did not disagree with him in his heated moment, and he took that as validation that they don't support you either. Just remember that comment is coming from his point of view. Try not to put too much energy into worrying about the friends and family being non supportive when they talk to your husband. Focus on the two of you and good luck. It will all work out, it's just so frustrating sometimes. -

This Isnt How I Thought Id Feel!
4sweeties replied to lisapereira66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It also takes a longer time and more pounds to go down when we are in larger size clothes. I used to get upset that it took so long to lose a pant size until my friend told me, for the smaller sizes you can lose 10-15 pounds and go down a size. For sizes in the two digits, it takes a lot more than 10 pounds. When the warmer weather comes, and you are in brighter, new, smaller clothes they will notice. Keep working hard and walk with confidence and a smile. -
Feeling Discouraged!
4sweeties replied to suzannelturner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 35 pounds is a lot!!!! That's the weight of my son and he is heavy to carry around. I also heard about 1-2 pounds per week. You are doing that. I'm sure you feel better than you did 35 pounds ago? Next time say, did you express this negativity to her also? -
Teachers...how Long Did You Take Off
4sweeties posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I teach young elementary school and it's not a desk job, it's draining but it's not a lifting job. I am wondering how many days I will need to take off. I can have my surgery on a Monday or Wednesday in December- they gave me 2 dates. If I do Wednesday do you think I can be back to work by that Monday? I have to call office on Monday with the date I picked out of the 2 offered. I am also considering waiting to the December break if I feel I will need many days off. My work will not know about my surgery. I have sleep apena so will be staying over night and I am having plication with the band. HMMM, hope to have this all sorted out by Monday. TIA for your advice. I realize everyone is different, but just wondering a general guideline for this who are in between desk and hard labor jobs. Also, getting to the bathroom is not easy at my job. -
