BUMP!!! ok. now, i starting to have an open mind for GB and doing more research on various weightloss surgeries. i nibble and snack a lot. i also can eat large portions at a time. i love sweets. my sweet tooth keeps getting bigger with me. so does the band seem better for me or is it GB? I also wonder, if i am young and already have tight skin, will i have saggy skin after weightloss with the band, and will i DEFINITELY have saggy skin with GB? thanks again in advanced for your responses.

yes, dat's what i'm asking. thank you too for the reply. i don't have depression like i would need medication for or like they describe on t.v. I think everyone has a little depression once in a while but doesn't require treatment. like i get sad and feel "depressed" for a little bit (not weeks or months) when i think about my weight. so i was wondering, if i answered "yes" to that on a questionnaire, would it help my case or be seen as a psychological disorder?

hi all! long time no see. i know this may be a silly question, but i was wondering in answering that your obesity causes you depression would help your case for surgery or worsen or delay it. thanks in advanced. .........SASHA

cool. i thought drinking a lot of water would be hard because of the new littler space in the stomach.

thanks gottabethin.........i was also trying to see an RYN forum and compare the opinions and comments of LapBanders and RYN'ers. however, i've still be skeptical about GB for myself. i know results are different for different people. do you know he experiences very serious and painful side effects (like dumping syndrome) from his surgery?

Wow!! Thanks All! Band It Is For Me!!!!!!!

those are also reasons why i dont want GB. i never considered it because it scares me, although i personally know people that have done it. and i dont like taking any kind of meds so i definitely dont want to HAVE TO take it for the rest of my life you know? but when the idea of the band came to me, i was actually very optimistic about it. i just dont like the idea that my insides are gonna get cut up. the band seems much better for me. i feel that the weightloss seems much more natural and gradual and you can "hide" it. as in you won't loss too mcuh weight at a time.and there will be less embarrassments from eating the wrong things in public. i dont know if this happens to everyone that has had GB, but this happened "initially" to a person very close to me that has done it. she would run around and rush to the bathroom to go throw up frequently.

i'm asking out of curiousity and also weighing my options. aside from the fact that GB is usually more costly than LapBand, what reasons would you NOT do the gastric bypass for? when i did my consultation, the MD said that most of his clients tell him that they want the band because it's "less invasive". he said that that really should not be a main reason because both require cutting your body or however he put it. i'm thinking, because of my current *predicament, i may have to choose between the two now. the main reasons about GB that's discouraging me is: BAD GAS!!! i know people that have done the GB and when they pass gas....:speechles and then the too many restrictions....(dumping syndrome) which could also be a good thing because it would make weight-loss faster. what reasons would you NOT do the GB?

i dont know what they do but i remember i used to always get diarrhea after eating one of dem low carb bars with sugar alcohols.

hi julie! don't let your fear of missing food get to you. i just attended a seminar about the band. the speaking MD did acknowledge the fact that many of us may practice bad eating habits occasionally due to stress, boredom, anger, etc. it's these things that helped get many of us in our current situation of being over-weight. we can see the band as one way of helping us handle resorting to food to relieve our problems. the best thing i (we) can do is to try to find other means of handling stress besides stress-eating. don't let this fear stop you on your journey to getting the band and having your health back. i truely understand how you feel. i'm not a stress eater myself, but obviously, i do enjoy eating......which is my problem, so i simply consider the band as one way of helping solve my problem. i wish you luck with your considerations of the band. i enjoyed my seminar and it made me more excited. i hope you receive all the info you'll need and don't forget to ask any questions you may have at the seminar. good luck again, sasha

@bluetattoo yes! i understand exactly how you feel. it seems were riding the same boat. i can't wait till i can actually get the surgery scheduled and and then start the actual weight loss itself and then finally get my own "ticker" countdown thingy

going through different threads in the forum, i see alot of posts suggesting that you have keep comsumption of liquids to a minimal. if this is true or is the case, do any of you bandsters find summertime to be difficult for the fact that you are more likely to get dehydrated? i am a big water drinker myself and now that the twmp is rising, i'll probably be drinking a lot more. is dis something to be worried about? could you hurt yourslef over-drinking?
