New to site: band to sleeve

@Leximia looks like we're in the same boat. You as well keep us posted on your progress!! Be well!!
  2. Hello, I've been on her for a few months but haven't really posted much but have read a whole lot. My surgery date is this Thursday May 20th. I'll be getting the gastric sleeve revision. I got banded October 2012 & had little success. Lost about 25#'s initially & then nothing more. I struggled with the band & never truly was able find the 'green spot'. I ended up getting to tight & had a good portion of the saline taken out. My surgeon's 'bedside manner' was horrible & I did not want to go back but I did. I ended up talking to a new younger surgeon & he told me I HAD to stay with the other asshat surgeon. I refused. I continued to struggle with what I believe is port pain or possibly where I'm banded & decided to pursue the sleeve with another Bariatric center. I'm so dang glad I did!!! My insurance denied me TWICE & the waiting game SUCKS but I know it will be worth it in the end. I just got notified last week that I'm APPROVED... Stoked but a ball of nerves!!! Excited for the journey ahead

    Insurance denied me :/

APPEAL IT!!! Be proactive. I had to appeal twice & I got approved. Best of luck!!
  4. I got banded on the 22nd and my 2 biggest evils have been gas & nausea too!!! NO FUN, huh?!?! Energy has been an issue too. I was planning on returning to work last week but it hasn't happened yet. These things have helped or helped some..... Nausea: benadryl, lying down. I should say my nausea was so bad yesterday and I hadn't eaten anything but greek yogurt. So I decided to eat a bit & it worked!!! Gas: Gas-X (still think its debatable if it really working for me), hot packs, cold packs........& the very best lying back down. I would have to say now, gas is the biggest problem for me. It has been in my left shoulder the last week and the pain is hilacious @ times. The only relief was lying back down. I even ended up calling the surgeon. He said it would pass, and I was doing everything that I could for it. The nausea post surgery from the anesthesia & pain meds were horrendous too. I realized that my body cannot handle opiods (vicodin & percocet) so therefore I don't take those little effers!!! Each day gets a little better & a little easier. Sounds like you got your hands full being a pseudo only parent. Try not to over do it and take it easy~
  5. 6 days post-op & I find myself hotter and sweatier than usual. Is this normal or has anyone else experienced this sensation? I've increased my activities the last 2 days. I'm wondering if that could be the culprit.
  6. Thank you!!! I will check out your thread. Best of luck~
  7. Thanks all for the replys. Just have tried to take it easy today. I did manage to make it to my daughters soccer game this a.m. and a quick trip to the store this afternoon. The rest of the day has been spent lying down. My shoulder started hurting @ the store so I layed down on a weight bench for a bit and it subsided. Got some weird looks but....Oh well!!! Tonight I've had the heating pad on and off of my shoulder and broke down and took a vicodin. No nausea, and feel numb.......except for the shoulder. GO FIGURE!!!
  8. It seems to get a little better with each passing day. I was hoping to go back to work Monday (sit down desk job) but at this rate I don't know if I can even pull a half day. I've had the gas pain since day 1 post-op and that was the worst of it!!!
  9. 5 days post-op & still having issues with pain in my shoulder from the lovely gas. I've done plenty of walking but the only thing that seems to make the pain go away is lying down. Heating pad helps a bit too. I'm also not a big fan of pain meds and actually had massive nausea in the hospital from them & the anesthesia. Help! Any suggestions?!?
