Anyone have issues w medications absorption w the band? I'm on depression/ anxiety & ADD and good lord I feel like the band is really struggling w this new med. wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
-
I didn't realize how redicilous it can really be to find a doctor who will take on a new patient for post off who was banded in another state, and without insurance My band slipped and worst feeling in life!!! I called around no one wanted really anything to do with me.. Finally spoke with a dr on Long Island where I was told I would have to go to the ER to get into their office..anyone know if this is common around here? Just seems complete nuts!

Why is removing the Lapband so much easier said than to do?! I've had soo many issues w this.. 5 yrs of great ups and low lows! Yet not sure which way im leaning on this choice... i really do want it to work! in the past ive Lost 50lbs. Then.. Threw up for a year, Wasn't losing any. Had it finally slip n had fluid removed.. Now after 1 1/2 months of liquid/ soft diet. I feel sick.. And it feels Lapband related. So without insurance I have to go to the ER - the Lapband dr says the video looks excellent.. Looks like it fell back into place perfectly... Has anyone heard of this? I'm a nervous wreck to get a fill! It hasn't been successful in the past, and I feel like the pressure from my family n friends is definitely making me lean towards removal. Any suggestions? The dr wants to meet me w next wk to insist on a fill... Would definitely love feedback!!! Thanks guys!

Like anxiety meds, I take at like 7p. Wake up to go to the bathroom by like 2 am. And the meds seem to be getting into my system.. Almost a "calidoscope" effect of seeing.. Almost woozy. But by the time I wake up I'm good to go. now w the liquid diet for over a mo, and repositioning of my band I tend to feel that way seems to linger on, woke up at 6am today feelin woozy . And ADD meds sometimes work quickly, sometimes alot slower. I'm assuming its the band.. Just wondering if anyone else has these issues? I've heard of ppl gettin liquid vitamins and even shots bc of absorption issues w the band so to me some meds would wk the same..possibly?

Woooohhhooo! I'm completely ecstatic!!!! (Wish I had bold and underlines to use here!!) But all I wana say is I reached my goal.. I'm in the ones!!! 198 that is.. No more 200's! Done & over that phase of my life! Good riddance!!! I feel like my friends don't get how exciting these numbers really mean.. When you truly are sacrificing a lot w the band.. "Normalcy" etc.. My friends are amazing and try their damnest to get this whole process.. This whole I'm 26 , yet let me call 4 of our choice restaurants to make sure they have soups I can eat.. Etc.. It's not easy but I'm beyond happy I ever did this.. It's a lot of daily work.. And I've done it.. I'm in the ONE HUNDREDS!!!! Just felt the need to share that!

Almost 2 Years After My Surgery, I Have A Very Sad History To Tell
brit_t replied to mell's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mell- I had the SAME issue- I thought it was also a failed band.. Just my luck puking any possible chance i had.. I ate anything- not just certain foods either.. And I'm also really not an "eater". Not losing any weight - but gaining like how is this possible? I did this for a year but then suddenly got sooo sick and I knew it was my Band.. Had to go to the ER my stomach felt soo tight ,couldn't even hold down water.. My band had slipped.. My stomach was bulging above my band causin all these health issues.. Depression .. Etc. so I def hear what you're goin thru.. Mind u I don't have insurance and the dr actually emptied my band hoping my stomach would "fall back through the band" I've been on the liquid/purée stage for 3 weeks.. 18 lbs down and finally feeling "normal" and happy to have this darn band thAt made the last year of my life a living hell. So to me I'd attempt to get a second opinion and see if possibly your situation is similar to mine. Best of luck!! -
Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
brit_t replied to dreamers's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dreamers- I know EXACTLY how you're feeling.. Im going thru the beginning stages of the band for the second time! And struggling just the same.. People don't get and won't.. Trust me on that! I have spectacular friends!! And try, as they might, won't even understand the plunge I took w getting the band.. It IS struggle, but it's the struggle I , personally chose for my own livelihood.. My own health.. My own well being.. And I get it is hard to explain to people what you are doing by getting "banded" it's by far the "easy way out" and my ONLY advice for you is embrace it.. Because Its you are taking a plunge and really making your life.. And your health better. No one can take that from you.. So my second go around i feel like the only advice i wish someone would have told me when i first was banded was to not feel "quilty - for taking the easy way out.. yadda yadda.." Just own it, I feel like its really important to do that! Not sure if this applies to your life, but I at least hope you can keep that in the back of your mind. -
I started making these amazing chocolate frozen strawberry smoothies , which are so high in protein 27-48g depending on which powder I use. But I'm wondering what liquid base you guys would recommend to help keep calorie content down alittle more. I've been using almond milk as of now but it's 60 cal/ cup. Any suggestions???

I use gnc chocolate protein powder, 1 cup water and a few frozen strawberries in the blender! Soo delicious!

Plication? I'm sooo confused!! I guess I'm not up with the terminology. My stomach popped over the top of my band but she never really said it was a slippage, but I'm assuming this is what happens when a slip happens. She emptied my band and has me on a liquid diet for 4-6 weeks in hopes it will fix itself being I don't have insurance. But what is a plication ? I had this done nearly 2 wks Ago n have been sticking to 1/2 cup soups 2x's a day, and a protein shake for breakfast. Keeping my calories at 500-800 day... Yet I've only lost 13 lbs.. I don't recall how well I did when I first had my band done, anyone know if this is pretty common? I just feel like my weight should be dropping a lot quicker.

Sooo confused!! Hope someone has some answers for me I had a slippage this past week.. So they emptied my band.. And need my stomach to shrink back down through the band.. All the doctor told me was to do 4 wks liquid/ purée. Soo 1/2 cup portions? Cup? 3 meals total? Or protein drinks I between? From my research I've found 70-80 G protein a day. 500-800 calories a day. I made tons of puréed soupsast night and would love to know how to portion them. Thanks for any suggestions!!!

I've definitely had the same issue!! 70g is sooo much esp w restricted diet!! I've found these amazing Protein powders at GNC.. Make me feel so much more energized and full. Their 100% whey protein 130 calories. 24 g of protein! (Choc, Cookies & cream, and unflavored are my favs! U can even cook w the unflavored!! ) also I've found if u go into the gnc store n tell them u say buy one get one for 50% off they will give u that deal in the Store too. Also I was told to get this chocolate gnc amplify XL- double chocolate. 3 scoops is 245 cal, 41g protein. But has sooo many Vitamins and flax seed etc..

Anyone Had A Lab Band Slip, then Had It Surgically Fixed?
brit_t replied to gdkeller's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just dealt with a slip. The doctor seemed to be Fairly confident that a 4 week liquid diet & emptying it could correct it. And I took a look at the picture, the band was flat across w a slight tilt to the right. instead of the typical left end slanted up .. So I'm hoping to god this works being I don't have insurance! Do u know what could happen if it sits in there in that position? -
Hey- Also looking for support in this process. I was banded in 07 in North Dakota and did SO well with a great support team there! So I do believe its extremely important! The past year I had issues w it, and just yesterday I had my band emptied because of a slip! so I'm back to 4 weeks of liquid diet and would LOVE to hear suggestions for amazing healthy soups/ smoothies and any recommendations for protein! Definitely need a good support team here, hit me up!
