I am researching the sleeve as a revision from the lap band. Your post is a big concern of mine and everyone else I'm certain. Thanks for posting your experience. Sometimes, the many positive stories make us forget that there is another side to the WLS experience. I hope you find your way back to the losers circle soon.

I'm confused too. I don't have diabetes but I do have a terrible sweet tooth. I love cakes, Cookies, candy. I'm wondering if I will have better long term success with the bypass. But then I'm also worried about having to take all those Vitamins and supplements for the rest of my life and worrying about what if something happens and I can't afford all the supplements.

This is the almost exact same diet that I did for Ideal Protein. For headaches they tell you to eat or drink 1/4 teaspoon of natural sea salt (the kind that's pink) I used to just pour it in my hand and eat it. Usually headache was gone within half an hour.

The same thing happened to me when I did the Ideal Protein Diet. Once your body gets over the carb withdrawals the hunger goes away. Your body goes into Ketoacidosis so make sure you amp up your Water intake so that you don't damage your kidneys.

Well I am excited to announce that I had my annual fasting labs done this morning and my total cholesterol went up! My LDL (bad cholesterol) went up! and my fasting glucose went up (only 101 but still listed as high) WootWoot! I cant believe Im excited to have failed a test. Not to mention that with the increased exercise and supervised diet plan that my blood pressure has went up as well. Hopefully the insurance company will approve me before I croak.

I had the same questions with the BMI for my Dr. I actually talked to them about it yesterday. My BMI is also 43. I was afraid to lose weight because I didn't want to get denied for surgery. This is what they told me. They (the Dr office) using my starting weight as my weight to go by. So, if I fall under 40, I should still be ok. Of course, I am aftaid she's not telling me the truth, or is mistaken, so I get where you are coming from. I would continue with your plan of action. Get that jump start in - those 6 months are the hardest (I'm in that now). If for some reason you get denied, you can always appeal. Does that make any sense??
