  1. I'm confused too. I don't have diabetes but I do have a terrible sweet tooth. I love cakes, cookies, candy. I'm wondering if I will have better long term success with the bypass. But then I'm also worried about having to take all those vitamins and supplements for the rest of my life and worrying about what if something happens and I can't afford all the supplements.

    Booting/boils

Whoops. Yes newgrandmother that was for you. A Bartholyn's cyst is located on the outside of the vajayjay. The bartholyn gland is responsible for producing lubrication. Sometimes it gets inflamed/plugged and develops infection. Can be very painful.

    Booting/boils

Are you sure that's a boil? It sounds like a Bartholin's cyst to me. Sitting in warm epsom salt baths will help it come to a head but your doctor will need to lance and drain it. Possibly even put in a drain called a bartholin catheter. Once its drained your relief will be huge.
  4. Hi! Im new to this site..been lurking on the sleeve site for a bit. I just started the process. Im 3 months out of six on my supervised diet. Have my psych eval scheduled for January. I am having to switch insurances in January to hopefully get approved. My husbands insurance will NOT cover WLS for any reason. Thru my employer it hopefully will after all the hoops are jumped thru. I apologise in advance if this question has been hammered into the ground. I can't seem to find it. The big question....how did you decide which surgery to have? Did you just go by the recommendations of your surgeon? How much input did you have into your surgery? WHY did you choose RNY? Those that are post op do you feel that you made the right choice? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Pre-Hospital Items Needed?

That would be a good thing to have a "sticky" on. Also a list of what items to have stocked up on at home in case we feel like crap and dont want to hit the grocery store would be nice to have as a reference.
  6. Welcome JennieDK. I'm from Iowa too. Burlington area. Just like you I don't feel fat. I look in the mirror though and think wth! I wasn't always fat. It just slowly krept up on me til I got to here. Are you having your surgery done at Mercy? I'm hoping to go to U of I since its closer. I won't be done with my 6 month supervised diet til January. I'm having to switch from myhusbands insurance to mine thru work to get it covered. My biggest fear is going thru all of this and then not getting approved. Second biggest fear is a leak or stricture. Some of the people on here have been thru absolute hell. Then I look at some of the before and after pictures and wish I could get it done right this minute. Lol. Good luck in your journey and keep us updated.
  7. This is the almost exact same diet that I did for Ideal Protein. For headaches they tell you to eat or drink 1/4 teaspoon of natural sea salt (the kind that's pink) I used to just pour it in my hand and eat it. Usually headache was gone within half an hour.

    I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

WoW! I've been reading the complications page and I'm so scared and rethinking if I really want to take this risk. Then I see your pictures and I sooo bad wanna be in a little black dress! I want to fit in the chair in my daughters school auditorium. I want to comfortably snuggle up behind my husband on his enduro bike. And I sooo bad want to get back to riding my horses again. Thank you ladies for reminding me that the risk is worth it.
  10. I hear ya on that! Being fat totally sucks. I'm amazed after all that you have went thru that your willing to try again. You must be one tuff woman! I sympathize with your husband it must be hard to watch somebody you love go thru so much pain. I sincerely hope the next time is a walk in the park.
  11. Oh my goodness how awful for you Kleigh830. Have you since had the sleeve surgery? Any problems with that?
  12. Wow! Would you guys mind sharing what your compications were? Sorry in advance if they are posted elsewhere. I'm still learning how to navigate this site.

    Yay For Open Enrollment

Haha. Too funny. The surgeons office was pretty helpful. They sent me a letter detailing what was needed for the 6 month diet and exercise plan but that's about it. They won't officially see me as a patient until my insurance switches after January 1st and can't start anything with preauth until then. Its the dang insurance company that's being a tool. Its like the requirements are a huge secret.

Pre-Op Diet, Is What I'm Feeling Normal?

The same thing happened to me when I did the Ideal Protein Diet. Once your body gets over the carb withdrawals the hunger goes away. Your body goes into Ketoacidosis so make sure you amp up your water intake so that you don't damage your kidneys.
  15. If u r willing to stay the same maybe u should rethink this decision. We all loved our sweets, drinks but loving those things got us right here. I don't know about anyone else as for me,the old person with bad eating habits is going to stay in the OR, anew person will be rolling into recovery. Lol Really is a piece of cake or drink worth your health? If so continue as u are. Well...that wasn't snarky at all. Thank you Chris54 for being so perfect as to never have to worry about slipping into old behaviors. I only wish that I were so perfect. Obviously I'm not because I'm FAT. I'm looking at surgery because I'm NOT willing to stay the same. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.
