Again, I am very new to this site. Be patient with me on my long stories. Like so many others, I struggled with my weight most of my life. Although I was very fit and healthy in HS due to sports and an advid horseback rider. I started working at Burger King when I was 16 and that was my diet. Soon after that I started to gain and gain. Now at 45 I am almost at my highest once again. My big moment though for trying to become healthier was when I saw the Realize Band commercial! I knew immediatally this was for me. I did my research and started my new journey. Who knew it would take so long just to get the surgery done. 8 months later I was banded on Jan 2010. For 1 1/2 years I was doing great. The weight was dropping and I was a whole new person. Never happier. Played with my kids, went hiking and all those things I couldn't do before. I even walked into a normal sized clothing store for the first time and cried in changing room. This was it, I made it , I did it!!! Although I still had weight to lose I was on my way. A supportive husband, friends and family.
Then the boom came in 2012! I am an emotional eater. We lost our home, my father in law died and our income was cut in half. Of course other things played into this.. At the same time I found out my port twisted because I felt my band was a little to tight. The next thing you know I had it fixed. I was not prepared for this. I live in WI and this summer was so so hot it was difficult to get outside and walk. Because of the surgery my doc emptied my band and of course food went down real smooth. Unfortunelay after surgery I knew right away something was wrong with the port area. Way to much pain. I went home and followed all my directions. The pain never subsided and I had a lot of ciurus fluid. I mean a lot!!! I contacted the office and they blew it off. After 3 phone calls and an appointment with the doc of course it healed up and no more fluid. So he never saw it. Yet it still hurt like hell. He usually has to use the fluroscopy to fill the band. He pushed down and I about jumped off the table. You think thats a red flag?? Now its almost 3 months later and I had a fill on Monday and the nurse couldn't get it. So the doctor that seemed irritated got it and left abruptly. No time for talk. I had to beg for a test and now getting a CT Scan on Monday. Its like there is a pocket above my incison line where the port was. That what hurts so bad. I am wondering if it never healed right and it keeps filling up with fluid. I have come so far not to give up. I want to be healthy. There are 3 doctors in the office. I may need to change doctors over. Has anyone ever done that? I went to one of the best hospitals in the country. Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI Its sad when a patient means well and wants to be healthier. Seems as though he got his money and off with me and on to the next. Can you imagine having all that fluid pouring out of the incison and all that pain and he has nothing to say about it. I need so much support right now from anyone. I knew going into this there could be issues. But not issues that won't be addressed. . Will let you know what happens on Monday. I am so sad I don't even want to walk anymore. Sometimes i feel like doctors don't understand that their hands are truely dealing with our lives being emotional or physical. I just want to be healthy.and play with my kids....tired of carrying an ice pack around on my tummy. I just want my life back and some answers. Thanks again for your support! The newbie....
