friend who has had wls now has the most repugnant breath. its unbearable!!
LapBandit2013 replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If she's a friend, you should tell her. What if it were you? Wouldn't you be upset that a friend "suffered" through your halitosis for months without telling you? I would say, " Listen, there's no easy way to say this, but your breath has been really bad lately. I think you should know because if I notice it, then so does everyone else. I'm sorry, but I would want to know if the tables were turned, especially if there was something I could do about it." Your friend is going to be humiliated, and maybe upset with you initially, but she's better off knowing and getting it figured out. -
first period since banded - killer cramps!
LapBandit2013 replied to LapBandit2013's topic in The Gals' Room
Thanks for the reply, it's too bad there isn't any magic band-approved pain killer out there. Warm bath sounds great, maybe next month when my incisions are healed. Today it's manageable. I hope yours passes quickly! -
I'm tuhcoolyuh on MFP. Would love to have some other bandsters to keep me accountable!

I was banded in Mexico, with directions from their nutritionist. I also have a local nutritionist, but neither one has given me a calorie goal included in my plan during recovery. I have a telephone appointment coming up in a few days, and I will clarify, but I'm really curious to know what the rest of you are doing and what is/isn't working. In normal dieting, I know a low calorie diet can sometimes make the body go into famine mode and lower metabolism, but does that happen with the band? I would like to make my goal 900 calories/day - has anyone been successful with that kind of number?

What are your calorie goals?

Oh, geez. I did not mean to post this 3 times. I can't figure out how to delete the extra two posts. Sorry everyone! -

Yikes! I have the Realize-C 11cc band, and I just got it placed. I'm worried about how long it's going to take for me to feel restriction. I certainly don't want to pay for 10 fills before I get there.

January 2013 Bandsters!
LapBandit2013 replied to Mimi1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had a recliner - that would be such a comfy place to sleep! Anyway, just wanted to share what has been working for my referred pain to the shoulder/neck area. I filled an old sock with rice and microwave a few minutes, then drape it over the spot that is most sore. Works so good! -
From a glance, Trader Joe's prices are better than that website www.greenpolkadotbox.com. Whole foods is generally too expensive, although their own brand 365 is relatively cheap. Farmer's markets accept WIC now, at least in Washington State (assuming you might qualify). I generally only buy organic for milk/dairy/eggs or when it's the best price. I always buy milk organic because of all the meds and hormones used in factory farming, plus my daughter drinks about a gallon every 4 days by herself. I buy eggs organic because of personal ethical issues. Safeway here carries organics now at comparable prices, their own "O" organic brand is as cheap or cheaper than generics. CSA's are an option here in WA, but they are kind of pricey. Thanks for the link to the site, I'll keep browsing and see if it's a good option for us.

My surgeon's nutritionist (done in Mexico) gave me a plan that says coffee is OKAY two days after surgery. I'm also on omeprazol post-op for 30 days, which controls gastric acid secretion, and coffee is really acidic so I don't know why it's okay. I haven't had any yet, since I've already suffered through the headaches of caffeine withdrawal, I didn't want to start back up right away. Also, I have a local nutritionist who says NO coffee for 4 - 6 weeks after surgery.

From the Help section: To add a friend, just go to that member's profile page and click the "Add As Friend" button. A friend request will be sent to that user, and if they accept, your profiles will be linked as friends. To find a member's profile page, just go to www.myfitnesspal.com/[uSERNAME] but replace [uSERNAME] with their actual username. If you don't know your friend's MyFitnessPal username, you can search for them by clicking on the "Community" tab, and then clicking "Find Members." -

Banded on the 1/17/2013 weightloss surgery center in KC
LapBandit2013 replied to ndtman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! 70lbs is a huge success -- especially doing that all on your own! I was also just banded on the 18th, and I also haven't felt hungry yet. I do feel like I want to eat, but I'm not actually physically hungry.
