I was wondering if there was any one else whose doctor said nothing but Tylenol from now on. I've always taken everything but tylenol hope it works as well as Aleve and motrin

Today I am not feeling as bloated as I have been, seems I'm able to drink more at one time then before. I am now back to what I weighed the day of surgery. I don't feel like I've lost any weight though. I have been very good about taking all my vitamins and supplements and getting in the min amount of protein drinks. Oh eggs well never taste so good-can't wait I'm not in much pain at all just if I bend over it hurts a little. I've still had no shoulder pain Thank goodness!I do feel like I have gas in my stomach though. I still have to remember I had surgery Friday because I tend to want to do to much, and then I get really tired. I'm going to the Dentist today about 35 minutes there, and then35 min back. I hope I don't regret being in the car that long.

Holliwagz- Hope you are feeling well after your surgery! I'm with you and am hoping to lose 10 lbs a month! Hottytoddy- Are you able to eat anything as long as it is baby food consistancy or do you have a list to choose from? Hope you had a great time in Destin!! Sounds like fun! Pamela68- Hope all goes well with your pre-op today! Suzzzie- I'm sorry your having all that pain I hope you are able to get some releif with your pain meds. My chest is still a little painful when I breath deep and my port site is a little more painful than before esp if I bend over. I am driving 30 minutes to the dentist today and than back, I hope I don't regret it.We had our surgery the same day, just wondering do you still feel all bloated and full? Mine stomach does not feel quite as bloated as it did yesterday but even though the scale says I have lost weight i don't feel it.Hope you feel better soon!!!! JackiP12-your so lucky you can have pudding& broth from a cream soup. What stage diet are you on? Faithmd- I know you are so excited it's finally here, you'll do great!! Beckiet- Have you been able to eat yougart, pudding and soup since you got home from the hospital? I must have the most strick Dr. and diet because I can't have any of that not even at my blended stage and even when I get to stage 4 I can't have pudding or soups. Seems like most people from what I have been reading can eat a lot of different foods. Mine is very restricted I'm beginning to find out. How are you feeling since your surgery?

I'm just curoius how many calories you all who have been banded in the last week are getting in a day. I'm barely getting in 350 a day.I am on a very limited clear liquid diet. I've read where others can eat oatmeal, pudding, yougart, and other things that I am not allowed during the stage I and 2 diets. It's amazing to me how each surgeon has different diets. I would so love to have a sf pudding. That would be heaven right now. It's not that I'm hungry because i really feel full all the time, but I would love to have something different to taste in my mouth.

Congrats on being banded! I am 4 days post op and I am the opposite i have not had a bowel movement since i drank the Magnesuim citrate before surgery. Guess I should call the Doc's office. I'm thinking because I am only drinking broth and protein shakes and sf popsicles and jello that might be why. But I am gonna call now. However my tummy rumbles and grumbles all the time and feels like a big bowl of jello esp when I walk.

Today I am feeling very tired I'm sure due to the fact that i am not even getting in 350 calories a day, which is very hard when all you are allowed to have is sf popsicles 30 cal sf jello 10 cal ,broth 5 cal per 8 ozsf liquids which I am drinking crystal light and that is only 5 cal per 8 oz, and then my unjury protein powder per scoop 80 cal.I am so full all the time, I feel like my stomach is full of jello when I walk. I'm finding it hard to get down 600 calories a day.I think I remember my Doctor saying before i left I could have the protein supplements from either stage one or two til I see him Thursday. I will call to double check, since I was kinda drowsy that day.At least the eas Carb Control has 110 cal. I think I'm just a little emotional today and getting ready for that time of month, and just getting cranky because I have not had any substance for 10 days.Tommorrow will be a better day I am down 7lbs of the 8 i gained in the hospital:clap2: 271 lbs

Hey June bandsters, I have been reading a lot on this site but not written much. I was banded on the 15th and am 3 days post-op. Anyone else out there itching like crazy. Mine as finally slacked off.I have read you all talking about barium swallows. I did not have one and am of course very curious why I didn't.I am on a liquid diet until I see my Surgeon Thursday and then I guess I'll find out what will be next. I'm hoping for blended foods, I can't wait to taste something good and actually have something to chew. Hope everyone out there is doing well:)

    Finally Banded

Well, I made it through my 6 day pre-op liquid diet the hardest part about the pre-op was not being able to have anything to dink after midnight. I was so thirsty the morning I went to the hospital. I checked in at 10:30 I was called back to the first room where they asked all the same questions again and I got my blood thinner shot (Wow that was a fun one -you should see the bruise that left)after waiting with me for about a half hour I told my husband to go ahead and leave so he could get something to eat before he went to see our 4 year olds camp show at 1:00.We figured my surgery would be around 12:30 or 1:00 since they usually want you there 2 hours prior. However I think it was about 1 or 1:30 before I was wheeled to the room where they put in the i.v.I have to say i was starting to get very ansy and thinking okay i can still leave but since I didn't have any shoes or clothes figured it wouldn't be a good idea. NOT THAT I REALLY WOULD HAVE LEFT. But the just not knowing how long you are going to have to lay there and wait was not very fun. My husband would be back at 2:30 and I was hoping to be done with surgery. My husband was back at 2:30 and I still was not in surgery. They started around 3:00, the last thing I remember was being so cold ,and then waking up in the recovery room in a lot of pain and a whole lot of nausea, and asking for my husband. The pain and nausea must have gone away quickly with what ever they gave me cause I was out again. Not sure what time I got to my room barely remember that,I tried to drink some cranberry juice when they brought the dinner tray and it made me nauseas. My husband brought the boys around 8:00.My 7 year old did not like what he walked into and ran out the room saying I want to go home. It was a little overwhelming for him with the I.V. and beeps and probably seeing his mommy looking the way I did. My 4 year old came in very hesitantly and came and held my hand. After a few minutes the older one came back in and actually got close enough for me to hold his hand and tell him I was alright and there was nothing to be afraid about, and I would be home tommorrow. They left and I drifted back to sleep. My nurse got me up at 11:00 for a little stroll down the hall. It wasn't to bad just felt very groggy while walking. She told me she had had gastric bypass a year and a half ago. It's nice when you have a nurse who knows what your going through.I continued my pain med and nausea med throughout the night . I got up twice to go to the bathroom, which the nurse would have to come in and get the things off my legs because I could not possibly have bent over to get them off myself. In the morning I was able to sip on my crystal light and Unjury protien powder mixed together, and eventually got it all down, as well as a couple of bites of jello. My surgeon came in and cleared me to leave and I will see him this Thursday until then I will be on clear liquids.I can not wait to eat something even if it is all mushed up . I am going to have salmon and turnip greens as soon as i get to stage 3. I have not experienced the horrible gas pain I heard so much about and hoping that if it was going to happen it would have already by now. I am two days post op. The pain is not so bad just mainly when getting up from bed or a chair and getting into bed. I was able to sleep on my side for a while this afternoon, but i don't dare try my stomach yet. I have a little pain in my chest if I take a deep breathe in. It's funny my stomach is growling so loud right now, but I don't really feel hungry.I haven't had any pain medication today. and hopefully won't need any. All in all it went very well, so glad the surgery is over and I am home. Well gonna go have a cup of chicken broth and then go take a nap 278 lbs

  13. Well, my surgery has been changed to Friday the 15th. I don't have to be there til 10:30 a.m. I guess that beats Thursday at 5:30 a.m. I have to say I was dreading having to get up at 4:30 to be at the hospital by 5:30. However I am not so thrilled about the extra day of liquid dieting. I am so cranky and hungry!!! But I can do it:) Two and a half more days to go.

Well I started my 5 day pre-op liqiud diet today. It's funny how everyones are different. I can only have yougart, lowfat cottage cheese, 1cup of skim ,soy milk(up to 3 a day) no sugar added fudgsicles, reg jello and popsicles(up to 3 a day), two cups per day of juice gatorade or powerade and 2 protein shakes a day. of course I can have the unlimited broth, sf popsicles, sf jello and sugar free drinks. It's a good thing it's only five days or I might not do so well.. Today hasn't been so bad,but I've been pretty busy, I'm sure tommorrow I am going to be pretty darn hungry.

Toni, that's good to know about the driving. Are you able to get around and be on your feet for a while without a lot of discomfort? Laura

    June 2007 Bandsters

Hi to all the June bandsters, I thought I would say hello and join this thread I am having my surgery June 14th.I live in Nashville TN and am having my surgery here. My surgeon is David Dyer. I am so excited , I feel like I have been waiting forever for this day to come. For those of you who have already had the surgery ,how is your recovery coming along? I'm hoping to be up and driving in a week. Is that hoping for too much? I know everyone is different with their recovery time, I'm just wondering I guess what is the average time where you can be moving around without a lot of discomfort. Thanks Laura

    consult done

Well today I went to have my psyche consult and all went well, he approved me for surgery. I'm so glad to have that over, because I really had been dreading it. That test was sooo long and some of the questions made me laugh, they were so out there. I guess they wanted to make sure you were really paying attention and not just filling in the dots without looking at the question. So now I am down to the pre-op visit and seeing the nutritionist, which will all be in the same day.
