My MIL likes to say " I like your outfit....it very slimming" which just means you are actually fatter than you look today!! You just gotta laugh!

The Army Dr's name is Scott but I am not sure of his last name. He assisted in my surgery. He came to my room the next day and was at my first post op appt. He is very cool! He is going back to Iraq, he said that is just part of the vacation package he signed up for!! He has been to Iraq twice and Afaganistan once. He said he worked on the good the bad and the ugly while he was there. I hope he makes it back safe!!! What a nice guy!

You are so right. the skin right above my port feels like suburn. Clothes touching it can hurt. I can not imagine a fill now ......ouch!!! The stabbing pain is much less frequent now but not soon enough for me. Thanks for the suggestions.......good luck

I use the GNC liquid protein....it tastes bad but I add a packet of Propel and it tastes great! Good Luck!

Well I have lost 25 lbs so far. I still have a long way to go. Nobody is noticing the weight loss (except me of course) because when you have a lot to lose it takes a while for people to notice. (how come they notice immediately when you gain???) I have had people say that color looks great on you and I have had 3 people say you look nice, do you get your hair cut??? I just want to scream.....no I now only have 1-chin not 2!!!! Its like they are noticing something but maybe they are afraid to say....did you lose weight So anyway my small NSV is just about my clothes that I am fitting back into and some pants that feel better....like I can breathe in them. I loved the thread "how much can you pack into a pair of pants!! I must have been packing them beyond belief!! Keep up the good work fellow bandstahhs....(my Boston accent) GO SOX

Do you think Tony got shot???? He said in an earlier episode to Bobby that you never see it coming, everything just goes black! Thats what some are saying, but then there could not be a movie. I did not like how AJ did the complete 180 within minutes!! That was pretty bad. Overall other than Phil...it was a big letdown.

crabcake......did they make sure that you could get fluids in? Are you on liquids again? Thanks for posting!

Well Sue and ljuht115, thanks for the replies, misery loves company LOL! I am glad that its not just me because I would start to think something is wrong. I like what legster said "Keep your eyes o the prize"! I know it will all be worth it! I should feel lucky that I did not get the shoulder pain, I hope yours goes away soon. We are all doing an A MAY ZING job.....keep up the good work and keep the updates coming! Hey Judy...where are you, hope all is well!

Congratulations....welcome to bandland!! I am only 3 weeks out so I am not much further along than you. Just know that you will feel better, I promise!

Crabcake.....good luck tomorrow. Let us know if you get the fill and how it went. I do feel bloated too. Its good that you are staying away from the scale, I go on and get mad it there is no movement. I feel like I am eating so little compared to what I used to eat that I should be able to watch the scale move!! I did not have to pay for the band but I would have because I was so desperate to get healthy. You did the right thing, it will be all worth it in the long run. Keep us posted tomorrow.

I am so impressed with the people who are exercising! I am still in a lot of port pain. Right now, 3 weeks out, and I am sitting with a heating pad and had to take one of my pain meds a little while ago!!! I can't wait to feel good enough to work out...I have post op envy!!!!!! I did do a lot of housework today and I am sure that is why I am so sore tonight. I am also amazed at the people looking for a fill, I can barley get any food in!! Today I have had and egg beater and a chicken finger and both felt like they were going to get stuck. Back to liquid protein tonight. So is there anyone out there in the same boat as me?????? I am still happy that I did it because for the first time in a long time the scale is moving in the right direction!!!!

It has been three weeks now, the stabbing pain is less frequrent but the port/abs are still very sore. I haven't told anyone about surgery but sometimes I walk like I am just leaving the hospital. How is your pain, are you still haveing the pulling/stabbing pain???

Boston.....where it all began!!!

It is a little blender. There was a very bad infomercial that was on TV all the time about 2 years ago. You can buy them in the stores for about $60.00. I got one as a gift and at first I thought it was too small but since the lapband I use it all of the time.

I was so excited to get to mushies......yesterday a piece of canned pear got stuck, not a good feeling. I had a shake for breakfast, tried to eat a very soft baked potato and knew after one bite it was not going down!!! This morning I tried and egg beater that worked on Thursday but today after a couple of well chewed bites I could feel the tightness like it was getting stuck so I stopped eating. I guess this is what the band is supposed to do....it is working but I can't get over the people that can eat anything already. I am not doing so well with mushies!!! I do not know if this is normal for the the early stages or not?? I am not complaining.....it is doing exactly what I hoped it would do, stop me before I eat again!!!:clap2: I hope all is well with the rest of the my May bandmates!!

cmacinga.... One of the things I liked was the campbells select soup. Tomato and basil with some lowfat, high protein ricotta cheese mixed in. It reminded me of lasagna. Mostly what I had is the same thing you are....soups, pudding made with whey for the protein, popsicles, shakes etc. Everyone agrees that the liquid protein from GNC tastes horrible but I mixed in Propel packet and it tastes great. It helps get the protein and water at the same time. I was not very good at getting in all of my protein or my water but there are only so many hours in the day! Good Luck, Maureen

I just started on soft foods yesterday. They still do not go down that great, I guess you have to take it really slow!! Best of luck!
-
Good luck Anniecakes! It is a long journey but well worth it. I am almost 3 weeks out and have lost 21 lbs! I feel great! Maureen

Since surgery on May 30, I have lost 17 pounds. Anyone else on strict full liquids for 6 weeks after surgery? Carol Good for you Carol!! You are the model bandster!! 6 weeks are tough, I barely made it through 3! I just felt my first stuck/slime. I ate a small piece of canned pears, I guess I did not chew enough and what an awful feeling in my chest!!! It only lasted for a minute but my goodness. I cannot believe people are talking fills already! I think I am safer with full liquids!!! I will be afraid to eat again. I guess that is just the band working...... Best of luck

Welcome Eddie (love the name, I have a husband and son Eddie)! how did you miss this thread???? Wenjea......Good Luck!!

I went for my first post op today. Nothing they can do for the port pain, I just have to try to heal without overdoing it. The good news is I am on mushies and I have lost 21 lbs since surgery!!! I am very excited!!! I just had an egg beater that tasted like heaven!!! Carol....glad to hear you are doing so well. How much have you lost since surgery???
-
We are going to re-watch the last episode soon. I am sure I will have a lot to talk about afterwards!!!
-
I am sorry that you are in that much pain! Walk and heating pad. I wish I could tell you more. Feel better...this is the worst of it, it will get better! Good luck
-
If it wasn't for the port pain, I would be exercising like a mad woman, but I am too afraid. I still think it was worth it. I know I will succeed this time and that is a feeling that I have never had before!

Thanks. I can't wait to go to the doc. I don't want to be a downer but I am still having lots of port pain, when I move certain ways it feels like its ripping out!! I hope he does not have to reposition it!! Other than that I feel great but I still cannot laugh, sneeze or bend over.....it getting old. So to not be a downer.....thanks for all the support. You are all great!! I love this site!!!! It is alway better to end on a high note!!!
