I was wearing a 20 and a couple of stretched out 18s a month ago. Today I went to get a new pair of black (what else) work pants. I brought 16 into the dressing room without knowing it (eyes are starting to go too) and they fit, snuggly but they fit. I bought them and a pair in blue just because they fit!!! Hooray for us!!!

I am so glad your nightmare is over!!! So sorry you had to go through that ordeal. I bet it feels great to have that support and a sense of relief that you now do not have the big secret! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ragdoll......I knew going in that I would hate to lie to people but that is the decision I made......I have read a lot of posts about people who wish they could un-tell people. I guess its not easy either way! I know how you feel about eating better in front of your friends, I have had many times where I say "hate you" about someone losing weight (jokingly) its just weird to be on the receiving end!!! My pants are all loose now too, scale seems stuck but clothes are loose!! Good for you, keep up the good work!

There is no need to thank me......it is a very self serving challenge!!!

I made the decision to not tell anyone except my husband and kids about my surgery. Well I went out to dinner with a coworker/friend the other night. We have always talked about weight since we were both very thin at one time and needless to say now we are both heavy. Well during dinner she started to tell me that she looked into the band but she could not do it. Insurance would only pay if she had other issues which she doesn't and she did not want to spend the money for self pay. Etc etc.... The long and short of it is.....I sat there and lied to my friends face and I could not hate myself more!!!! I did not know what to do, I know that if I owned up to it, not only would she be upset that I did not tell her, but the news would get out. I also know that it made her feel bad that I ate very healthy and she did not, She kept saying "your being so good and I am not" and believe me I know how that feels having been on the other side many many times. :lie: So I just needed to tell someone how horrible I feel! Thanks for listening!

Hey Margaret, Since you were so good at keeping our calendar, any suggestions on the tracking of our challenge??? Do we just do individual tickers or should we try to get fancy?

Your welcome!!

It is like before you vomit and your mouth fills with water.

I tried to find other challenges....March bandits had 20 days of excise and 20 days of at least 64 oz of water (that is so difficult for me) What do you think? Should we do a gold, silver, bronze? It should have its own thread....I agree.

Has Anybody Made a List of Things You Want To Do After Weight Loss?
METALBAND replied to lapbandliz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love this thread and just wanted to give it a bump! -
I do not get a fill until July 19th and I was banded before you! I do still have some restriction though. I am not sure about the bean and as far as gas....I was lucky in that area! I used to have severe port pain, it finally went away but yes any of the exercises that use your core area will tend to upset the port! As for the challenge.....do we keep a running total or do we just keep our own ticker going????

I am not sure how they work but is anyone up for an exercise challenge? I need some motivation to get my big ole butt in gear. I have been to the gym once and have started walking but I need some serious motivation! Unfortunately the gym that I have a membership to is 30 minutes away and I do not always have the time. So what do you think......July exercise Challenge???

How about the banned people who exercize!!! Can we put Dr. Keith Ablow in that box too????

I am a very bad example but I got the CPAP machine. I used it 3 times before surgery and just called to get it picked up. I actually did not see a difference, I am sure because I did not give it long enough but I think it helped me get the insurance company to pay for my surgery. They consider it another problem related to weight.

coughing hurts! also port area swollen
METALBAND replied to wadew1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ragdoll is soooo right! My port hurt for over 3 weeks, I was whining and complaining the whole time. I thought it would never get better. I woke up last Sunday and the pain was gone, just gone! I could move around in bed and it didn't hurt and then I felt a sneeze coming and braced for the worst and .....nothing!!! Hang in there....it is all worth it! -
It is funny now how what I used to think was "just a taste".....is now a whole meal! I was the type that would consume enough calories for a full meal just while I was cooking, and then sit down and eat. I love being banded!
-
I have just started to get them, they wake me up before they totally cramp so I am stretching in the middle of the night! (not as painful as you have had) I do not drink enough Water.......but I will now! This site is so great, I would be in the dark about so much without all of the support!

Welcome Beckett!!! You have just joined a great group of people!

Hey Judy.......luv2bingo7. Happy Birthday and where have you been my band sister!

surgery with gallbladder removed?
METALBAND replied to lipgloss85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor would not take it out during the lapband surgery, It had to come out 2 weeks before. It is too risky to do it at the same time because of the toxins in the gall bladder could cause an infection in the band. Good Luck! -
Just checking in.......not whining about port pain this time!!! The port pain is finally gone and I feel great!! The weight loss has slowed a bit or should we say not moved in a week. I went to the gym tonight for the first time in about 2 years. I did the elyptical (SP) for only 12 minutes and 15 minutes of weights. I was going to do a few laps in the pool but it was too crowded. Its a slow start but its a start!!! woo hoo I am so happy to feel well enough to exercise because I know that is going to be the key to losing!!! I hope everyone else is doing well, thanks for posting about the first fills! Mine is scheduled for next week but I am not sure I need it, I still have lots of restriction. Maureen:bandit

Okay so I rewatched the last episode.... Ben was the one who ordered them to not kill Gin, Sayed and Bernard????Why How about when Russo sees her daughter for the first time and says "will you help me tie him up" talking about her father!!!!! weird Do you think Desmond will make it back to tell them it is not Pennys boat? There are supposed to be more flash forwards next season, I am not sure I am going to like that. Who's funeral????????? Kate and Jack after the I love you or Kate and Sawyer, Jake and Juliette??? Any Thoughts?

I do not want to jinx myself but I am on day 3 of no port pain!!! It just stopped. Friday I was very sore because I was doing alot of housework and getting ready for my sons graduation party. Saturday it was better and since then I have not had a pain. I can move around in bed without wincing, I have sneezed and not had the unbearable pain. I hope it is gone for good. How are the rest of you doing??? I hope this happens for all of us. It feels so good to not be in pain!!!!

I am eating so little now that I do not plan on getting a fill any time soon. I think if the scale stops moving or I find that me and my band are unable to control my portions....I will get one! Right now I am happy with the restriction that the band has given me. I also read on here and am realizing that "hunger is not an emergency"! I can usually wait it out a little and drink some water to control it.

I know what you mean but I now know that it is them that are in a bad place if they need to make comments like that to make themselves feel better. My MIL has food issues worse than me. She is probably 20-25lbs overweight and goes to the gym everyday, sometimes twice. Her food issues are too much for me to go into but believe me she is more troubled by food than anyone on this site!!! She once was eating the skin of an orange and my then 5 year old daughter asked her why and she said because there aren't any calories. My daughter did not know what a calorie is!!! Her daughter grew up to be bulimic and when we told her about it she said "I actually tried that once (throwing up after eating too much at a party) but it ruined my makeup, so I never did it again" She almost seemed happy that her daughter could pull it off, eat and stay thin! I am sorry....I got started on her and could go on forever!!!
