Welcome Linda! Manatee....are you losing inches??? I know that when the scale is not moving fast enough I still feel like I am losing. Did you take any measurements??

Kat...chocolate liquor, now that a real chocolate high!!! Mandy...surviving the buffet and not feeling miserable afterwards because of all you ate now that is success!!! Chickie, I am starting to do that, really think about what my body needs, not my head wants but it is a huge change for me!!! I could always talk a good diet but never actually do it!!!!

Okay so I did not want to give the impression that I had the alcohol issue because I never did.....I actually need to increase my alcohol intake from 3 glasses of wine per year to maybe 6!!! I just know that they go through the whole, one day at a time thing and they call themselves alcoholics even when sober for years. Will I always be a recovering M & M Junkie??? I am glad that you responded that even at goal you can have a few bites of a burger etc.... that sounds like bander bliss to me!!! Thanks again....you all inspire me everyday!

Welcome and do not be scared.....everyone here will give lots of hugs along the way! My insurance paid because of co-morbidities and documented failed weight loss attempts. Every insurance co is different. I do not know about your doctor but someone on here does I bet. You should go to Local support thread, find your state and ask there. I am sure you will get a reply. good luck and believe me, this will be the best thing you can do for yourself. Maureen

So I am just reading on here and contemplating what life is like at goal??? I cannot wait to be in your shoes. You should all be so proud!! I was wondering.... Do you have to live like an alcoholic that is sober, what I mean does it ever come naturally or are you always fighting the demons? Please tell me it gets easier! Thanks, Maureen

Nothing to worry about. I had mine out 2 weeks prior to band surgery and I was feeling fine in a day or two. It was much less invasive and I have not missed it at all. I did not know it was there and did not know it was gone. I guess I was lucky that I did not have any symptoms prior to having it out, I heard that what you are going through can be painful! Jsrico......you will be there in no time at all. I went to my primary doc yesterday and what a thrill to see the bottom part of the scale on 150 and move the top one. I was so used to it going to the 200 and then moving the top on (not sure if that makes sense). Keep up the good work!

My regular doc is at Emerson but I chose to go to BIDMC just because they have been doing the surgery longer.....He spoke very highly of Emerson though..... good luck!!!!

Last week I was counseling my best friend on her dating drama's (I have been married since I was 20 so my advice might not be any good but anyway) and she was complaining that a guy she is seeing is also dating other people. She said "the girl he went out this weekend is even chubby, I mean come on what is he doing"? He went on a first date with a chubby girl!!!! She made it sound as if the overweight girl was worthless! I got so mad but waited to say anything because I knew it would have gotten too ugly so the next day I told her how shallow she is. I was so upset that she would actually say that to my face, like she is a better person than me or that other girl because she is thin!!! I forgot to mention she is a size 0 and could actually use a few pounds to look better, that is not just my opinion, everyone asks me since I am her best friend if she is sick and then they follow it by saying a couple of pounds would make her look better. So this is not me being bitter, although I am!!! I felt better after the confrontation and she admitted she was wrong and she was just trying to make herself feel better but I told her it spoke volumes about her character!!!

Okay so during my first business lunch......I was chewing when my customer (who wanted to go to this tavern because of the great burgers) asked me a question and without thinking about my band I just swallowed and answered him! Not a good move......I tried to continue the conversation with a piece of burger stuck, finally I had to excuse myself and go and slime for 10 minutes. I just made up a lame excuse why it took me so long and then I had to try to fake eating more of the bunl-ess dry burger. UGGHHHH! I realized that my band does not care what the customer suggests that you order, the band knows better, I will now order band friendly food. This was my biggest fear confirmed.....slimming with a customer!
