Will keep you in my thoughts.....keep your eye on the prize!!!!! Susan

    Pre-op Diet Advice

I am on day 7 of my pre op diet which is pretty much like everyone else has described. I find if I dont get enough protein in I am starving so I bought Isopure and drink one of those and that seems to help. 3 more days....having surgery on Friday the 4th. Good luck to everyone!

    Body Odor

I have tried Dove but it usually doesnt keep me as dry as the Vasgil powder. Not sure if I am spelling that right but too lazy to walk to the br this morning to check it out LOL. I dont powder too heavily but just lightly seems to be enough for me. Cant live without the blow dryer though. It seems that I just cant get dry enough without it.

    Body Odor

I had to comment on the whole pannus thing... I ummmm dont laugh but I use my blow dryer in several areas that seem to sweat. Then I lightly powder and am fine. I find that the blow dryer is way better than drying with a towel.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Thanks for the encouragement Lisann. I dont know why but today was/is rough. I have also quit smoking on top of the food thing and ...well....lets just say its probably not good for ones health to be near me right now LOL. Congrats on your 55lb loss.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Ok I am on day 3 of this liquid diet and to tell you the truth at this moment I could eat the butt end of a bear. I am afraid to go to town because I pass right by McDonalds and cant promise I would not stop. I am trying to keep my eye on the prize but at the moment is hard. Think I will take the dog for a walk although at this moment I am not sure she is safe either LOL. Thanks for letting me vent!

    The Bullet

I ordered mine off the informical also where they claim that you buy one get one free....well you dont....you pay for both. I actually need two though because I travel quite a bit for work and last week while I was away from home for 4 days I just packed it and took it with me. I packed my protein powder and I had a small cooler that I took with some fruit and then stopped at a gas station and picked up skim milk or orange juice, depending on what I was making and just fixed it right there in the room. Hotels always have ice so it was easy. I love the magic bullet and it is the perfect size for me to travel with.
  9. I will be banded on May 4th and today attended a class with the dietician, RN and pharmacist. I was told it is a state (OH) requirement to attend this class. The RN did tell us that when we wake up we may have the tube still part way in and that we would just push it out. I am afraid... no really I am scared ****less of this but I am still going to go through with it because I am keeping my eye on the prize! Am in day 2 of the preop diet. Hasnt been too bad but I am sure that at some point it will make me nuts.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Ohhhhh guess what?????????? I got a phone call today from Jean at Dr Bruce/Clarey's office. I am approved!!!!!!!!!! Surgery is set up for May 4th. The only problem is that I got my letter of authorization tonight in the mail and it says that I have selected a hospital that is out of network and that they may pay some....and they may not. So I guess I have to call them tomorrow and see what is up. I got the name of Bruce and Clarey from my insurance co...not sure why they are saying they wont cover the facilities. Any idea??? Oh but I am just so thrilled that I am approved. I guess if I have to change physicians and hospitals at least it wont take me forever to get through the process huh? Ohhhhhhh I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!

    Dayton Bariatrics

Hi ... I havent been banded yet....sighsssssssssssss....but hope to have the okay from my insurance co soon. I am also going to Dr Clarey/Dr Bruce for mine. Glad to hear it has gone so well for you. I went to 2 of the support group meetings and would like to make it to more and will try when I can. However my employment requires me to travel a lot so the times/days do not always work out so well for me. I am going to try to make it to the meeting in Kettering that the group on this site is putting together. Take care and good luck Susan

    Smoking!

Thank you both for your support. I am going to quit just because it will be much healthier for me. Today I decided to go with wearing the patch and taking one of the Chantix since the Chantix does not have nicotine in it so it is not like getting too much nicotine. I am just not going to double dose so maybe I wont feel so drowsy during the day. So far its late afternoon and I am doing pretty good. Gosh its such a hard thing to give up isnt it. I hope the Chantix works for you. Again thanks for the positive support. Take care Susan

    Question about Feet

Gosh I hate to even ask this question because it seems silly but for those that have lost quite a bit of weight did you find that your shoe size changed at all? The reason I ask is several years ago my brother lost quite a bit of weight and he made the comment that he went down one shoe size. I didnt know if he was kidding or not. So can I look forward to shrinking feet or not? Thanks Susan

    Question about Feet

Hi Siyah Mine are a 11 wide also. I travel a lot for work and its such a pain to pack more shoes because they take up so much room in the suitcase. Gosh I would be so nice to wear something smaller....even one size smaller would be great. Good luck on your weight loss journey. I hope to have my band sometime with in the next couple of months. Just trying to learn all I can... Susan

    Smoking!

Gosh now I am nervous too about the smoking thing. I started Chantix also but didnt follow through with my quit date because of other events happening in my life...always an excuse huh? But then stopped taking Chantix because it made my acid reflux worse and also made me so tired all the time. My Dr said I had to quit at least a month in advance and I was thinking like Rock that when my paperwork gets submitted I would have a month. My paperwork wont get submitted until the week of 3/26...but after reading Rock's situation I think I am going to use the patches starting Monday and just quit that way. Going out of town for business so I will be away from home so I think it will be a good time to start. Good luck Rock. I am excited for you! You can do it..we are all here for you. Susan
  19. Hi everyone. I am new here but glad to see such support. You guys are great! I am 46 yrs old and the mother of 2 great guys who are 24 yrs old. In a great relationship with a wonderful man. Oh and a mother to a little rag muffin we call Goosiebug. She is part terrier and who knows what else. She rules our world! I always say I have been overweight since birth....10.9 whewww. I have always been insecure about my weight and appearance but it seems in the last few years its been worse. Pounds just continue to creep on...my list of medications seems to get longer and longer. Nothing seems to work for me. Like most everyone on here I have been on every kind of diet that I can think of with limited success. I think the worse was the Aloe Vera diet..gagggggg. Its amazing what we try when we are desperate to lose weight isnt it? Anyways I have been thinking of the Lap Band for a while now and went to my first seminar in Jan of this year. I had pretty much made up my mind that it was what I wanted to do but then it was comfirmed while on a flight shortly after attending the seminar. A woman sitting next to me wanted to use the arm rest but it wouldnt stay all the way down...she was slamming it down saying "Why wont this stay down" I had to explain that it was because part of my hip was under the arm rest. Needless to say we were both embarrassed. Right then and there I decided that I would not continue this way. That and the fact that I have been very worried about my health...high blood pressure, high cholestoral and reflux. So here I am waiting for my appt with the nutritionist later this month then all my information will be submitted to my insurance co for pre authorization. Hopefully with in the next few months I will be able to have surgery. I have already had my appt with Dr Bruce at the Dayton Bariatric Center. I look forward to getting to know those on this site! It seems that you are all great and very supportive to one another. What a great place to be able to come and not be judged. Thanks for being here. Susan

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi everyone. I am new here and havent been banded yet but I hope to be in the next few months. I am from West Milton and am seeing Dr Clarey's partner Dr Bruce. I havent seen anyone post that has had surgery by him... Is everyone still meeting once a month for a support group? I attended one in Dayton but wont always be able to get to that one because I travel a lot for work but would love to join you guys sometime if you dont mind. My insurance covers 90% of the banding as long as I have pre authorization. So I have had my psych eval, clearance by my primary care, gathered my medical records, attended a support group and wrote a letter to go to my insurance co and also had my appt with Dr Bruce. The only thing left to do is see the nutritionist which I do on the 26th of this month and then all the above will get sent to my insurance company. Its so hard to wait....I hope that I can be banded at least within the next 2 months. I stopped drinking diet soda and am trying to get used to drinking 64 ounces of water each day..whewwww. Also trying to quit smoking. To be honest I am waiting for that approval then I am slapping a nicotine patch on. Cant go cold turkey. Anyways I have rambled enough. Its very encouraging to read this thread and to hear how everyone is doing. Any advice that anyone has I would greatly appreciate it. Take care...keep up the good work everyone! Susan

    blue cross blue shield

Hi I am new here but excited about finding this site. Its been very helpful. I have BC of Calf and it is supposed to cover 90% but they want diet history and so on. I have an appt with the dietician on the 26th then all my information will be submitted to the insurance co. I did write a letter to my insurance company which will go with all my other records for review. Hopefully they will approve it. Its so very hard to wait. Good luck to everyone that is waiting for approval.
