  1. Be sure to drink lots of water. You do NOT want to become dehydrated.

    4th fill, need advice

I would have thought it to be 'first bite syndrome'. This sometimes happens after the first couple of bites. Theres no way I'd be full after 3 bites but everyone is so different. I'm guessing you did the right thing. Besides, if you are hungry in a little while, you can have something to eat. LOL

    Psych eval

It's interesting to read your posts. I didn't have to complete a psych evaluation...

Unfill setting me back about 6 months :-(

Off topic but B52, I love your posts! You are a wise man & very well written. Back to topic - setbacks happen. As was said, you likely irritated your band & what you did was out of necessity. Maybe next time you go for a fill, because you are use to 1.5 cc's more in your band, maybe you can get more than the standard 0.25 cc's. I'd ask anyway. If not, it'll take a bit of time but you'll get back to your fill level. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
  6. Same as others - clear liquid (broths/juices) for a few days, then liquids (soups/soft foods with no lumps), followed by puréed food. I think it was something like 20 days before I could eat regular food. But as you said, all surgeon requirements are different, though similar.

    My thermostat is broken

I had to buy a pile of turtlenecks & sweaters. Hubby alway teases me & tells me I need to gain some weight. LOL

    Any tasty puree ideas?

I tried to make the purée stage as easy as possible. I threw whatever my family were having in the blender. It didn't always look the best but always tasted the same. The only thing I didn't like was Pasta. I found it became too starchy. I puréed chilli, buttered chicken, Soups, etc. Be creative. Remember, variety is the spice of life! It's easier to get through the stage if you are eating tasty food.

Are you too tight...or just cold?

I guess that's why they recommend a cup of hot liquid (tea/coffee, etc) before a meal - to warm up & relax the band. I'm not sure I could cope with my band that tight though. I actually find the reverse of your observation to be true... I find my band gets tighter when its hot & humid. Not sure why but it definitely does.

    NEED HELP PLEASE!

I've been told you would be throwing up violently & in a lot of pain. I think you should be okay. Your mind will be put to ease after your doc appt. Hang in there. I'm sure everything is fine. We all worry like that sometimes.
  13. Try Gas X strips. They really helped to alleviate some of the gas pain for me. Hang tough. It does go away. It was 2 or 3 weeks for me but it does go away. I also became best friends with my heating pad.

    My journey

Reed3580 - I too started using the Couch 2 5K Program. OMG, I love it! Never thought I would say that. I have always from the treadmill SO BORING but that program certainly spices it up. Love it! We have something else in common, at the beginning of Week 4, I too found that my inner left knee hurt. I had to stop immediately. I have been off the treadmill for over a week now but planning to hop back on tonight. My plan for now is quite different though, I plan to go back to early Weeks & redo them. As B52 suggested, I think I need to lose a little more weight before my knees are ready to absorb the shock of my body weight. As B52 suggested, on Saturday, I went to The Running Room and had an accessment done to get the proper footwear. I'm hoping that helps. I also plan to do stretches, etc before hoping on the tradmill & starting the warm-up. I dug my heartrate monitor watch out this weekend & plan on using that as well. We bought a Bowflex this weekend. Assembled it last night. I am looking forward to using that as well. Never thought I would be excited about exercise! Glad to see there is someone else out there using the Couch 2 5K Program. It always seems to help when you know you aren't the only one...

    Band Day Today

You're surgery is over by now & you know exactly what you could expect. I'm sure you are rockin' it! Some people experience discomfort while others have a tougher time. If you are experience pain, ask for meds. Thank God for pain meds. LOL

    Scales

I go on vacation in 20 days. Yay! I'm really looking forward to it. I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but I always cut myself some slack during vacation. Even thin, healthy people tend to gain on vacation. You seem like to have it all under control. Just add in a bit of activity. Enjoy yourself & don't sweat it too much if you gain a couple of lbs. Just get right back on track when you return home. It has been my experience that I lose those vacation lbs quickly.

    Is this a good idea?

Absolutely! This procedure & the journey ahead is going to be a big part of your life & his life by default. I included my hubby right from the start. My lapband has affected both our lives in ways that we would never have expected. Because of it, we BOTH are different people & have grown (and shrunk, LOL) together.

    repair or removal?

I haven't had the same complications as you BUT there is NO way I would have my band removed. I would be too nervous about gaining the weight back. From an economical standpoint, it makes more sense to repair your band but you really have to go with your gut feeling on this. At a minimum, you need to find supportive medical professionals.
  22. steph2012

    repair or removal?

MorrieKins, Not that it's relevant to your situation but I was wondering which company you dealt with for your band? I'm from Canada too.

    Reached one of my goals

You look hotter now! LOL What have you been doing to tone up?
  24. You HAVE to be comfortable with your doctor. Do some more research. Go with your gut!
