    Tell me I'm crazy

I'm walking on the treadmill at least once a day, sometimes 3 times a day. But I haven't started lifting weights yet. After 20 years of gaining weight I just don't want to do anything to slow down the weight loss. Am I nuts? I've lost about 80lbs so far & got 50 to go.

Thanks everybody. I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing plus start on some weight lifting. 80 down 50 to go! Good luck to all of you

  4. 3 months post op and right now I'm avg 4 pounds lost a week! I've only had 1 fill. I'm keeping my portions small as I can & choosing the right food with no cheating. (Except a little at Xmas). Walking on treadmill twice a day. Lost over 60 lbs including preop diet! People think the band deserves all the credit, like if you get the band you're automatically gonna lose weight. It's give me the help I needed to do this but I'm working hard & making good food choices. I'm thankful for the band but giving myself some credit for my hard work & sacrifice.

    What to do??

I'm almost 2 months post op. I've had one fill and definetly need another BUT my work is sending me out of town (1500 miles ) for 2 months and I have to leave on the 31st. I don't think it's gonna be possible to get a fill before I go. Any suggestions or advise?

    What to do??

Good news. I didn't get a fill before coming to North Dakota but they have a good variety of food at the man camp I'm in like baked chicken & salad bar plus they even have a gym here so I'll have no excuses. I'm staying on my "diet" & exercising so I should be alright. (-:

    First NSV!

Dang it. I've been wanting to ask but embarrassed, lol. What is an NSV?
  8. Hmmm. Interesting. Hope it's true. That's the hardest part for me
  9. Was wondering in your experience has keeping a journal been helpful. I find it tedious and time consuming. I'm not even doing it anymore. But if I really need to I will

    Alcohol?

  11. This band is an awesome tool but it takes ALOT of will power and self control to use it properly. Im 40 years old & been on too many unsuccessful diets to count, Why in the world couldn't I make better food choices before the band? Mad at myself for getting in this shape. Oh well, guess I'll just start over. Lol. This week I'll be down 50lbs. A huge success for me but I'll still have a long ways to go. Can't help but be embarrassed to say I've lost that much and I'm still OBESE!

IT'S BEEN A MONTH SINCE SURGERY

Hang I there. Eat protein first and do not drink while eating or atleast 30 minutes after ( 90 min if you can stand it). If your already doing all that then I'd talk to doctor/nutritionist. Good luck, you can do it!

    Food journal important?

I'm not tracking now. I eat 3 meals a day, small portions.

    OK dont laugh at me

I'm about 7 weeks post op. just had 1st fill. Can I have a couple beers tonight? I haven't had a beer in months & I can live without it but the guys are coming over tonight & I thought I'd sip on a couple if it wasn't gonna mess me up too bad. What do y'all think?

    OK dont laugh at me

Thanks everybody. I guess I just hadn't thought about never having another beer. A small sacrifice for my goals.

    5 months and going strong!!

Good for you. That's my favorite part so far, fitting in to clothes that I haven't worn in years. Happy for ya

    Newbie

I think everybody is different. I've been banded about 6 weeks & lost 40 lbs so far including preop diet. Of coarse the stricter you are with diet and exercise the more you'll lose. Good luck
  18. I'm trying to change my whole thinking process on food. They say " have you ever seen a fat wolf or a fat lion?" These animals eat for nutrition and survival. I'm hoping I can be a tiger and start thinking of food as a simple fuel I need to survive. It's hard and I'm not there yet but I'm trying. I guess 40 years of bad habits ain't gonna disappear overnight.

    First appointment was today!

Good luck. I had to jump through so many hoops I almost gave up many times. I even back out of the surgery weeks before the scheduled date. Just to start all over again a year later! Lol. Hang in there & you'll be glad you did!
  20. I think my surgeon is good but the " after care" has been almost non existent. No one has called or anything. I got 1 call from a nurse the day after surgery. Now 6 weeks post op I get my 1st fill tomorrow. I called them to ask if there was any diet restrictions tomorrow and they said they didn't think so. Lol. Well I don't know. That's why I called!

Not as much support as i thought

All good advice. I just was under the impression that with the surgery I also got all the " benefits" of solutions weight loss center. Maybe I'm being a baby but I guess I don't know what those benefits are. Lol. They really seemed caring & wanted to help pre op but I guess I thought they'd check on me or something. Lol.
  22. You won't fail! I'm only 6 weeks post op so I'm still learning but I had the same fears before my surgery. I've lost close to 40 pounds so far including preop diet and I'm very excited for more success to come. You will do good and surprise yourself!
