Below Goal -
I did my first triathalon (sprint 400m swim, 12 mile bike, 3 mile run)Sunday. So proud of my self it would have been easy to talk myself out of doing this in the past. Too Cold 52 degrees and wind gust 20mph +, lake temperature 65degrees. I did not talk myself out of it, completed it non stop and finished 4th in my age class 64th overall. Finished in 1:32 need to work on my run and transitions but overall very pleased with these results. More to come...

Me and my wife just returned from a 7 day cruise and had a great time. Was totally excited when we both weighed in when got home yesterday to find out we only gained 1 pound each. Ate very well on the boat and did plenty of drinking and had dessert at dinner every night. hopefully the photos will attach to this. It felt great to just get away and have a good time. First time since surgery i have gone more than 1 day without scale. The picture with the southenmost point in the US is in Key West the top picture was two years ago. My wife is about 10 months and I am 16 months post-op.

ANY LOUISIANA VSGER'S HERE
tommyd replied to isleeveinjesus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
New Orleans -
I am 5'9" like the OP. i was built very similar to him. I was sleevesd in November last year. I got down to 150(it was a number i wanted to see). I stayed there for a short time and eventually realized that was too low. I put on 15lbs and am very happy where I am. No more comments about being too skinny. I am eating around 1600 calories and 100 g of Protein a day to maintain. i also work out 5-7 days a week. You will know when you are at a weight that you feel good at. Good Luck.

Anybody else freaked out by the idea of never being able to enjoy carbs again?
tommyd replied to nolagirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nolagirl, I too was a carb freak. Being from New Orleans how can we not be. I'm 13 months out and have not had any sweets, rice, breads or Pasta since Sept 2012. It was hard at first but I've learned to eat gumbos and Beans with out rice and when I need something sweet I grab a yogurt or Protein bar. Before I eat something I ask myself is it truly worth the calories, fat gram or carbs , or is there a healthier choice. Keep the bad stuff far away and keep healthy Snacks close. You can do this.. -
Here is our picture. My wife is 6 months out and i'm 13 months.

The Reasons I Would Never Recommend This Surgery To Anyone Anymore.
tommyd replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off I'm very open about my surgery. I was fortunate and had no complications and great success. My wife, sister and sil all had the surgery. So when we are all together someone will inevitably ask us about the surgery. I always tell them about my experience , I tell them people do have problems. Like all major surgeries do your research. I send people to this web site to get info. Follow dr and nut's plan and pray everything goes well. Nothing is guaranteed in life especially tomorrow when you are obese. For ne no high blood pressure and sleep apnea . No more daily meds (except vitamins). I fear that one day I might be in your shoes when someone I talked to about the surgery has complications. But if this was their chance to get healthy then I think I can handle it. I hope your co-worker is doing better. -
I agree I got so caught up on the scale moving in the right direction that I lost muscle and strenght. I should of started lifting weights sooner. It is slowly slowly coming back. Still best decision I ever made.

Was a 46-48 now 30-32. Shirts were xxl to a medium. I'm a little over a year out
-
Try gas X strips, but for me walking helped the most. Move as much as you can.

I don't think there is a normal. Everyone is so different. Sounds ok to me. Early on its hard to determine hunger. It may be head hunger or you just need more fluid. Follow drs orders and you will be ok.

I Want To See Before & After Pics!
tommyd replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This was taken on my one year anniversary. So happy I made this decision. -
One year anniversary can't believe it. Time has flown by. By month 8 I was below my goal at 150. Best decision I ever made. In the process of adding some weight, dr, nut, and wife agreed that 150 was too low. Started lifting weights about 2 months ago. Another positive my wife, sister and sister in law all got sleeved 6 months ago. All down 60 or more ! Went from 46-48 pants to 30-32. Xx -xxxl shirts to medium. So very blessed.

I was 280 at first dr visit 249 day of surgery. Surgery November 5th got down to 152 and now 165. Put on 13# of muscle spending a lot of time in gym.
