Protein Drinks And Shakes, What Ones Are Good?
dfwtxfemme replied to NurseTAB's topic in Food and Nutrition
it seems Atkins only has 15 grams of protein and 160 calories.... to get 100 protein a day is it best to go with about 25g at around 100 to 120 calories.... I'm not real sure I'm pre surgery and not had classes or education on the stuff yet so just asking -

Lean active7 mixed berry??? this has 7 types of protein but the main are whey and then egg protein and some others.... anyone tried ??? I agree with several of you the smell texture and taste of the stuff makes me vomit I can't even keep them down sometimes I spit them back up but I never can do vanilla or chocolate.... my mom drinks atkins maybe I should try 1 of those if those are acceptable I am presurgery trying to find stuff that will work for me -
and besides the end of the day with Obama in office the higher tax people will continue to pay for the whole lower bracket healthcare, the immigrants are in the country they use our schools and our hospitals for free, everybody is on food stamps 5 or 6 kids on welfare they still get pregnant and have completely free healthcare, prenatal and maternity and wic. I wasn't talking anything about getting surgery paid for having somebody else cover it, and no where did I say it should be covered in my policy, I am aware how insurance works and what is covered in what is not in my policy and what is available to me and not in the state of tx. and I wouldnt care if they charge me more to include maternity the point is it should be available to me and it is not and I can't claim that I'm indigent either
-
okay we can just end this. in Texas you cannot pay for it in addition. I am with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Texas it doesn't matter who you go with there is no maternity coverage and u cannot add on if you have a private plan. I'm not looking for a handout I'm not looking to have anything finance I have the money for it I was curious as to how much more it cost a private cash person than does insurance that is all. i know doctors and hospitals make more money off of me, was just curious as to how much. do I think insurance rules r fair? absolutely not but I can't change them either. a person can work minimum wage at large company and have the whole surgery provided for and they just pay the deductible. private plans have many exclusions again I don't know if the individual state thingor what but at least in Texas you cannot add on. and yes this is elective and I get I don't care about the money it's just the principle I wanted to know how much more i pay than what insurance company paid. all they're doing is taking advantage of someone that has money. but it on another topic which isn't for this forum any female should have maternity coverage with insurance. but I do not yet my own patients do because they live of the government or are indigent can have as many kids as they want and we pay as the taxpayers I have a kid I have insurance and I have to pay cash. thats American welfare system for you there. this just start out as a simple question how much more the cash person pay than insurance company paid it's about 10 grand more that's all I wanted to know it doesn't matter
-
that kind of sounds ignorant. I have insurance I own my own company actually. the money is not an issue, it's the principle. most people do not have weight loss surgery covered unless they work for a company with over 500 employees. and no private insurance plan covers it. to provide some more education if you have a private independent insurance plan you also do not get maternity coverage, the only way to get maternity coverage and prenatal care covered is also through a company with large employee base. it's kind of ridiculous when you consider that I pay 420 dollars a month for insurance, but is just how rules are. maternity coverage is the most frustrating. it doesn't matter what insurance company I pick either, it is statewide it might be a national thing but it's definitely a statewide thing in Texas. My babies will b cash babies also

the only problem is is the whole 19000 is paid to the doctor and he pays the hospital but they tell you the breakdown is 11,000 for the hospital 1200 anesthologist and 6500 to the surgeon.... again it's no big deal I mean its cost for cash patient I just know that it's a lot more than what the insurance companies contracted rates are for.... like the previous poster said her surgeon contract rate was 1200 dollars and I have to pay 6500 to him that the 500 percent markup.... it doesn't matter I was just curious as to what the markup was and clearly now I know.... I'm in the hospital for kidney and other things all the time I know how insurance work I just have a weight loss surgery exclusion which makes me a cash patient for it.... I know I my kidney surgery the anesthesiologist billed my insurance 1500 dollars and ins paid him him 300.... again up 500 percent markup but it doesn't matter I mean if I what the surgery I will pay 19,000.... seems all is said and done insurance get away with around 10 to 11K.... which is only twice as much but that's still a significant difference... I wish cash patients could just pay whatever it is the insurance companies pay
-
Yes thx doesnt matter i pay what it costs, just ridiculous that insurance is allowed to pay 1000 for the surgeon and I have to pay 6500, my 1 night stay in the hospital 11,000 that's ridiculous too I am sure insurance pays a lot less... I wish they charged cash patients what is that accepted from the insurance companies

I saw their website and all their flavors I didn't realize those were considered whey based I guess they have a better consistency maybe like a Gatorade or water based, which would be much better for me I have a hard time drinking milk shakes regardless of what flavor, even if from Sonic or water burger I just don't really like the texture... absolutely can't stand the smell of vanilla or chocolate... but starburst rock my world so I like fruity flavors -
that is really good information thank you no 1 has mentioned that to me. it is a concern because you just never know... I just wonder how much more money the doctor makes off 1 cash payment then he does someone with insurance I know he have a higher price for cash man with the insurance companies pay but yes mine covers everything yours does. I like the surgeon charges 6500 for his part of it and you know if bills insurance company for 6k he might be paid 4000 and the rest is just written off as excess charges, I know the hospital fees insurance companies write off lots. the hospital bill my insurance 12500 for my kidney for a 2 hour morning day thing and my insurance pay them 2800 and said the rest of excess charges. so I know having cash patients pay 11,000 for the hospital for 1 night say a lot of that would be considered excess that we have to pay anyways because we are cash.... but I was just curious what actual insurance companies pay it and how much extra we actually pay because we are cash and none of it gets written off as excess and above reasonable charges...glad to know of blis, will definitely look that up and invest in that because you just don't know and I read on here people who go back in and stay for a week or 2 because of the leak or some other complications and that would be very pricey
-
but I guess my question is how much does insurance pay the doctor how much is the hospital paid, I know you're covered by ins, maybe my question wasnt clear I'm just wondering if the doctors paid or how much actually being paid by the insurance company. the doctor can bill your insurance 20,000 dollars if you wants to and they can say no that's not reasonable we will pay you 8 and so the doctor is paid 8000. I'm interested in how much the doctor with Pay by the insurance company and how much the anesthesiologist was paid and what Hospital pay was.... just trying to see how much a insurance pays for someone to have the procedure verses what someone pays as cash patient. normally insurance companies write off about half of what is charged.... so I'm just curious

I think I'll I need to start doing instead of going to these private doctors running commercials. but would you believe I called 1 and they will not accept cash patients... and I call the other location and she said this is the same surgeon go to his private practice it will save you 3000 dollars so I scheduled a consult with him and the lady said I can always transfer my aftercare to the facility at the hospital... the surgeon yesterday was the first 1 to charge me for a consult which was 170 and I'm expected because they did not tell me that and I drove an hour to get there so I went ahead and paid it, but at the end they said the next step is to go to the 3 hour class... and that was included already with fee... so even though I am NOT using the surgeon I might go to that class just so I feel like I got my money's worth, although to go to the class I have to take off half a day of work... they say after that class is when you schedule your surgery but I figure I will just sneak out and not schedule -

can you not just eat baby food and make sure that there is no sugar and carbs in it maybe like the organic types or maybe the brands at Whole Foods or Central Market have no sugar added and no carbs.... I didn't know if I should buy a baby puree Machine for 50 bucks for my puree Stage I thought about it.... then you can just puree anything

I am curious for those of you who have insurance to pay for this what the insurance companies actually paid once your surgery was done with according to eob's and what was considered reasonable charge and how much was above customary charges as a cash patient about 19 K procedure and that is only 1 night in the hospital.... I just wonder how much the insurance is actually paying...for me hospital is 11k, doc is 6500, anesthes 1500
