Thanks for letting me share. This forum is a great place to share with others who understand and won't interpret this list as arrogant! I thank God everyday for the lapband and the opportunity to have the surgery. I hope this post will encourage others to push through the difficult days of the journey!

I am almost 6 months post-op, have lost about 60 lbs, and I am recovering from a yukky case of shingles. I know shingles can occur when a person's immune system is weak. I was wondering if anyone knows of a higher incidence of shingles following WLS...does the sudden weight loss somehow temporarily weaken your immune system? I've had a good amount of personal stress lately which I feel is the most significant factor. Just wondering.... Thanks!!!

Does anyone else ever feel this way...??? Sometimes, I wish that no one would notice my weight loss. Sometimes I wish that no one remembered when I was much fatter. I'm truly thrilled with my success so far with the lap band and will be more proud of myself when I reach my goal (about 30 lbs to go). BUT my weight has been in the forefront of my mind since I was in second grade. I am almost 40 years old, and I want my weight to be a little lower on the totem pole in my thought-life. I want to just live life, make healthy choices, and not obsess about my weight or body image. For the most part, conversation with others about my weight loss (their questions about how I'm doing it, compliments, questions about WLS) has been positive, and I am thankful for positive feedback. On the other hand, some coworkers and "friends" are very obvious in their attempt to not acknowledge my success that I've noticed them distancing themselves from me. My husband is wonderful. He's supportive of my decision, but doesn't make an issue of it. He gives compliments mostly when I "fish" for them. He loved my at 270 and will love me at 170. Perhaps I'm venting like a mad woman! Just wondering if I'm alone in these feelings. Help me think about this differently, please!

My A1C at my last visit was 6%. I've since lost about 10 more lbs. I've noticed that I've really been wanting to snack lately even though I'm in the green zone and am not truly hungry. I know it's likely head hunger, BUT I'm wondering if perhaps I'm having a little hypoglycemia with the cravings being my body wanting sugar??? This morning I forgot my Meds, but noticed I had very little hunger and no strong desires to snack all day. When does the doc start decreasing medication for diabetes? I will talk to my doc about it, but I am just wondering what experiences others on this forum have had with this? Thank you all!

So exciting! And a big "thank you" to you and your husband for your sacrifice for my freedom! I don't know how you do it!

Stuck means a piece of food won't pass through the stoma between the pouch and the rest of your stomach. It doesn't actually cut of your air supply as if you are choking, but it can be painful. This shouldn't happen frequently...if it does, there's a problem-either with your eating habits or with the band being too tight.
