    Shakes Or No Shakes?

My doc says no more shakes now that I am on solid food but I find it hard to tolerate much else in the morning so I still have one in the morning just to supplement! But i don't hate them either

    Fage 2% Greek

Not sure about the honey I despise honey so I never eat it. I will say I only consume about 1/2 of the fruit stuff just because I am weary of sugar! Hope that helps!
  3. I just got tired of feeling poorly about my physical self and realized that being 29 and on blood pressure Meds was unacceptable. I had the band 3 weeks ago, am down 30 and feel confident I will be off my BP Meds very soon. Best decision I have ever made for myself and my health!

    Fage 2% Greek

totally with you - love Fage greek yogurt, it has made me a greek yogurt snob. I usually eat the 0% one because they sell it in a big pack at Costco!
  5. I chose the band because I didn't want anything permanently to change in terms of my anatomy. I am a month out and feel great. It was a great decision!

    How Many Calorie?

I had the same thoughts - though not because I couldnt get food down. My nutritionist told me it is different for everyone and the focus should be on protein and water/liquids. But because I am me, I really needed some rails either way. I had been staying between 600-750, but stalled out losing weight. So in the last week or so I have been able to get around 900-1000 and have started losing again (btw - my nutritionist said 1200 is the max i should take in now). I think the danger is if you eat to little your body could go into starvation mode even with your protein. So I feel good now with where I am, but with that said, it is different for everyone and if you are not able to eat more, you shouldnt force it, just focus on your protein. I make my shakes with almond milk and they are pretty good. Best of luck - and glad you are talking to the experts - that is why they are part of our team - to help!!
  7. Hey all, How quickly did you guys return to the gym post-surgery? My doc says 6 weeks, but I am 3 weeks out and itching to get back to real working out (can you tell i am impatient) beyond walking/hiking. Any one go back sooner than 6 wks? thanks all! PS - dont worry, I listen to my doctor, just curious if others went back sooner...
  8. Welcome! I got banded 3 wks ago, but the decision-process took me about 2 years to decide, get insurance approval (that was only 6 mo) and get it scheduled. Best decision I have made for myself ever! This is a great forum to get good insight! Good luck!
  9. Hey fellow bandsters! Does anyone else have bouts of nausea in the morning? I seem to have it when I dont eat a Protein snack/drink protein before bed. I am guessing I have gone too long without any protein - but was curious if others experienced something similar? Thanks all!

    Nausea In The Morning?

Yeah - I think I will reach out to the doc just to be sure! And we can rule out pregnancy - should have included that in my original comments! thanks for the perspective - I heart this forum!

    Protein Shakes

I use Matrix powder and 1 c of regular almond milk. I find that the almond milk gives it a more tolerable texture and has some Protein in. When I make one - they have 25g of protein in! I also still supplement (3 wks out) with Isopure zero carb Protein drinks - apple-melon is my favorite. Those have 40g of protein per bottle. I have found them at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe! Best of luck!
  13. I am two weeks post-op and have lost 23lbs to date, but when I got on the scale today (first time in a few days) my number did not move. On the one hand I know I am being totally illogical and have had great success, but on the other, I feel a bit deflated that I am not losing more. I either need some encouragement or a virtual b$#%h slapping for being crazy/impatient. I am open to either - thanks for any thoughts you all have!
  14. Hey - I am two-weeks post-op. I am occasionally having some bouts of dizziness, if I drink a little OJ or lemonade I am fine, so I think it is a low blood sugar issue (i am not diabetic) but was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar?
  15. Congrats - just had that milestone myself last week - amazing how awesome it feels! Makes all of work worth it!

    Post-Op Dizziness

Thanks all - definitely not dehydrated - live in altitude and drink at least 96oz per day, but will keep an eye out and make sure I get my liquids in! It does seem to be happening less now that I am in soft foods. Thanks for the perspectives - it is great to have this forum!!
