I am trying to make sure I can keep my customers and my company happy, but I also want this surgery to make me happier. I know I'll have to tell them, my pre-op visit is the 2nd Jan, when he will start scheduling my Surgery. I will just need to ask for the 1st March 2013 or a day closest thereafter. It seems so far away!!

Yeah, the think is I work for an international company but our office here in South Africa is small(5 people) and there is only 2 of us in our department. I generally have to travel a lot for work, and so I want to be able to not travel for at least a month after surgery. Local travel I could possibly do, just the international could be difficult as its mostly into Africa, and that can be very difficult being on a liquid only diet. I must admit thinking about this now, it's gonna be difficult even after I am off the liquids and on mushies. But I guess I will have to just deal with it. I also need some advice on what to tell my boss to get 2weeks off in march, and to make sure I'm there for the whole month. Sometimes people are just not that understanding. Was wondering if there was some other procedure I could say I'm having. If not I am going to have to tell them the real reason.

:-( possibly going to have to push my possible surgery date to March. Work is just way to busy Jan&Feb 2013! So bummed.

Thanks. I don't believe there was any psychological problem with the eval. The shrink just hasn't sent the report in yet. but my surgeon will be chasing it up, and will find out whats happening. It's an amazing journey so far, and cannot wait to have the surgery and start losing.
-
Thanks everyone, well I am progressing along this journey to my surgery date. All reports have come back very favorable except for one, from the Shrink, he has not yet sent the report yet, and he was the first person I saw. So my Surgeon, is gonna have a look into it for me. I am going to schedule my pre-op checkup with him for mid Jan.

Ok, so all my Dr's visits are done and dusted. Just got my Pathology back, and everything is normal. Which is pretty much why i am getting this surgery, nothing seems to be wrong with me other than my metabolism is shot. So next I have to see the Dietician on the 11th Dec and she will give me my liquid diet.then in Jan I will go see the Surgeon, and get scoped and then set a date for the surgery.
-
So, today I had a huge round of appointments, first saw the Bio Kinetecist and he is completely more than happy to recommend the surgery for me. Next was the Dietician, and she was really impressed by my current diet / eating habits, and so has adjusted slight for a pre op diet, and ten Willl see me in a months time, and is also completely happy for me to have my surgery. So now I am at my Physician appointment for my bloods, am sure it will be an awesome result.

Hi all, I go and see my Physician, Dietician and kinetisist ( if that's how it's spelt) on Tuesday, What can I expect from them?
-
So today is the start of my visits to the Team. I am starting with the Psychologist. Not sure what to expect. Can anyone share some light on this for me? Never been to a shrink before.
-
Yay!! That went so well! He is more than happy to recommend me for the surgery. Now just 3 more specialists to see. It feels so good to be on the road with this.
-
Thanks for the reply, is a huge amount of help! I am waiting in the waiting room now.
-
So I saw the Surgeon today, and boy oh boy is he cool. He was straight with me and generally really nice, and listened to me and answered my questions. I feel totally comfortable with him. He has said that I am the best candidate for this operation, yay, so my appointments for the other specialists have mostly been booked and I will be doing most of them on Tuesday the 13th Nov. I'll most likely have my Surgery at the end of Jan if all goes well.

Thanks everyone! It's scary but exciting. I cannot imagine what it's gonna be like to be thin. My mind is going wild with ideas

Hi all, I'm 30 in a few days and have finally Made the decision to get banded! Nothing is gonna change that. I'm 6'3" and 160kgs(353lbs) living in South Africa I cannot wait to be banded! My wife has made an appointment for me for next week with my GP! I love her!! Going to go discuss my options an plan it's such a relief to make this decision. . I have a strong need for this. I have been at 40+ BMI since I was 14 and although it hasn't got super out of control I have tried everything under the sun! Now is my time to shine! Bring on the Band I say!!
-
Hey all, :-( I won't be getting banded after all :-( They will not do Banding in South Africa, and so I have decided to go for RNY. I am a little nervous, but i am pretty sure i can handle it, i have watched a tonne of YouTube videos. Just sad to be leaving this great Forum. I will let you know when i am done with my Surgery.
-
I would love to know which doctors you used in RSA, and which medical aid you used? I am looking into Discovery's Comprehensive plan at the moment. Pricey but i believe that the surgery is covered. Any information would be awesome. Recovery time, time off work etc. I originally wanted to go for Lapband but this is no longer an option, so i am going for RNY. So i have had to chuck out so much of my research, and start all over.
-
Hi all, I am from durbs, looking into getting RNY. Would love to chat with someone who has had it.
-
Little gutted at the moment! May not be able to get the band in South Africa. Trying other docs.
-
Leaving in a few minutes for the Docs office. I am hoping that he will be supportive, and point me in the right direction. Would be awesome to meet the surgeon today too, but that is unlikely. I am not sure if i am nervous, i know for one thing, i am VERY excited!! Bring on the Band!!
-
Hi all, This may be a little bit of an odd question, but how long before i will be able to be intimate with my wife after surgery? Is there a specific period of time we should wait? Thanks

The Dead...after Surgery.
Montage replied to Montage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had a good laugh reading all the replies. It does concern me, that I may not be able to perform for awhile after surgery. 3weeks is do able. But 4months then that won't be good. Surely the reduction of weight should enhance the drive. Well if anyone can tell me how to edit the "Dead" to Deed I'd make sure it gets done soon.
