  1. Thank you for sharing your story and to keep updating! the last fill i received was in July 2014 and i was pretty happy with where i was, i also learned the quirks and was very slowly losing/maintaining the weight. About 3-4 days ago, i couldn't get any food down and Water was uncomfortable. I have a herniated disc and the pain was more bothersome than normally so i attributed my tight band to that. Well then band pain came, a different kind of "stuck" feeling that i cant even explain. That same night i woke up coughing/vomiting. i started freaking out thinking my band slipped and got back to my doctor's office the next day (yesterday). She took out all the saline to let my stomach rest and i have an upper GI Friday to check the position of the band and if there is any damage. I never had reflux before so i dont understand how this can just happen out of nowhere and so aggressively. I dont understand how the band can just magically become too tight and show symptoms now. Anyhow, i am afraid to eat!!! i feel like a recovering alcoholic in a bar. Just one drink and im going to spiral. I've been trying to stick to a liquid diet but the hunger is REAL! Not to mention my i am in my brothers wedding June 6 and my bridesmaid dress currently fits right now... I'd be mortified if the day comes and i cant get into it. When you were unfilled, did you have this fear? I dont know what to do about it. I'm scared i'll end up gaining lots of weight.
  2. This sounds morbid or fraudulent but please hear me out. I've had the Lapband for almost 2 years and it has been nothing but problems. i cant wait to get this thing out of me! I've been busting my behind and have lost some weight but now im screwed. To get the lapband out, my insurance covers it, no question but i cant switch unless i again meet the same criteria as pre op. I dont have high blood pressure any longer, nor is my bmi over 40. i dont have a co morbidy. Im terrified that if i take the band out, i'll gain all the weight back. Is there a way i can "fake" a test to make it seem like i have either (per insurance) high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesteral or diabetes? My doctor can argue the issues with the band but stated a Co-Morbidy still needs to be present. It sucks the the band hasnt been working for me in a healthy way but i cant switch to something safer. i feel like i have to choose to be miserable or be fat :-( like im being punished for trying my best on a crappy tool with some results but but now im stuck with it. anyone have any input? Any way i can get around this insurance hurdle? Thanks-A-Bunch!
  3. I thought about that but i dont want to fall back into bad habits and i def. dont want to gain weight. I want to keep working this summer to lose more weight. I guess it is an odd request and probably cant. just thought someone else might be in my same position. i dont know what to do.

    Switching from band to sleeve

I took the test pre op lapband and wasn't diagnosed with anything. I probably will take the test again but i cant imagine things would change after losing weight. maybe i should try going to another location for the test?

    Excess Skin

So I'm interested about excess skin with the younger banders. I know people lose elasticity in skin over the years. We are young and (fingers crossed) maybe excess skin won't be so bad. Any input, any personal stories? I know everyone is different and such, just curious.

    Quick question.

I was told 30 min before first bite and 30 min after last. I started practicing Before I got the band, it is one if the toughest habits to break in my opinion.

    Help

I just sleep. it sounds lazy but when I was sick I would just sleep as much as I can. I'd rather do that than eat. another weird trick (works for me at least) brushing my teeth often. I think it's because I hate the taste of toothpaste and food so it helps. nothing scientific, just my 2 cents. good luck! and force yourself to drink that water :-)
  9. I was curious if anyone got a tattoo to Celebrate their weight loss. What did you get? and why? I was thinking about getting a tattoo that has to be done in stages or something I could simply add to every 50lbs lost or something like that. Looking for ideas

    Sleeping in bed?

because of gas pains, i couldn't lay down for about 3 days. i couldn't lay down comfortably for about 6. back to normal in about 12days (normal meaning me being able to sleep on my stomach)
  12. I wish my pants were as loose as my Bra is. haha why is it the girls always go first?
  13. gbmc towson has band meetings Once a month. http://www.gbmc.org/template_jq.cfm?id=1754
  14. I've been doing protein shakes or adding protein powder to yogurts. I notice I'm very tight in the morning and can't tolerate anything (even scrambled eggs), usually by lunch I'm fine and can have a real meal. I'm not a big breakfast eater anyhow though.

    Violent throw

I had my first fill almost 2 weeks ago and quickly learned my lessons (all different times) #1 I didn't eat most of the day and came home starving and( like I used too) gobbled some eggs. Learned that lesson fast: Eat slower #2 First time going out to eat after surgery. went with some friends to catch up and wasn't paying attention while talking: chew properly #3 This may not apply to some people but I'm quite tight in the morning and can't handle such solids: Eat light Breakfast All resulted in stuck episodes and my body immediately threw it up (I tried to work through it without success) All were lessons learned pre-op. Maybe I didn't think it would happen to me, maybe I didn't realize I was doing wrong but I assure you these are lessons that won't be forgotten from now on.
  17. I've never had a problem with drinking water before. I stopped drinking soda and juice long before I started this journey but ever since my first fill (about a week and a half ago) I just stare at this water bottle. The thought of drinking it is a complete turn off. I force it, most of it, but I was wondering if anybody else had a similar experience? It's very weird for me to not want to drink water.
  18. Thanks ladies, glad to know I'm not the only one
  19. I have, and yes, they're good but I didn't want to get dependent on a sweet taste even though they are zero calorie.

Women are just more open I think. Those "manly men" who won't ask for advice (or directions haha) will just be stuck. ask and you shall receive, well as much as we can here. hope you got something out of it. Good luck
