You are right on target for the hairloss. Make sure you are getting the right amount Protein and I agree with the Biotin. But there are 2 factors that play against us 1 being lack of nutrients in the beginning weeks after surgery, bit one of the most common side effects of anaesthesia is hairloss and everything we ingest in our bodies finally ends up coming out of our hair and nails. Anyway, usually hairloss begins at about month 2 and slows to normal shedding at about month 5 or 6, depending on how fast your body metabilizes the meds. However it will het better.

Every once in a while I will eat 1/2 of a sandwich. I do have to lightly toast it or it get stuck. My bread of choice is nature's own whole wheat no sugar added bread. I do wish the food court at the mall had better options. I love the Greek vendor there it is one of.the healthier places and I get the grilled chicken hoagie with grilled onions and peppers. He uses olive oil and I only eat the inside of the sandwich, as I know that bread will get stuck.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
pmartin replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This sounds like something worth trying, since I too suffer from the dreaded pleatues as well. -
Chicken salad, turkey salad, marana sauce with some.ricotta cheese mixed in, etc. These r good mushy stage items with flavor. I thought I would go nuts after the first 2 weeks. But I found these tasty ideas on the internet. If you don't male your own sauces, then make sure you watch the amount of sugar in them. I prefer making mine over store bought......good luck, you will be fine, we have all need there.

Wished I knew, but after mine was removed at the beginning of the year my Dr told me it was very common. -
Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
pmartin replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
With the band you still have to work at it. The band does not stop you from eating ice cream or other non healthy foods, only you can do that. It does make you eat less and smaller bites because there is nothing like getting stuck. The one thing I didn't know is that your gallbladder will eventually have to be removed if you still have yours, and it may be that way with any gastric surgery for weightloss. -
Funny how we are talking about being stuck, and I just had a incident with being stuck but didn't need the remedy

Do you know.what the measurements.are.for the tenderizer and lemon juice.

I had thrush (yeast infection on tongue) after powerful antibiotics when I had my gallbladder removed. It began as a raw feeling and then white patches. So inspect your tongue and if you see white patches that you can't brush away with tooth brush, call your primary Dr. Because it may be thrush.

Feeling Carbonation-Deprived...i Hate Those Mix-Ins - Any Drink Ideas? Sick Of Water....
pmartin replied to indacrucible's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carbonated drinks will make you HURT. I made the mistake of having a couple of swallows to take 2 pills, and I hurt so bad...needless to say it only took that one time for me to learn my lesson. I have heard of people who buy diet rite (they use splenda) and leave it opened so it will go flat. -
One nutritionist said.that she heard of.people using.tenderizer (msg). But I'm not sure if it is mixed with a little water or taken dry NPR do I know how much, but I would not think it would be a lot.

Question Regarding Dumping Syndrome
pmartin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So here it is ... I am 3 weeks post op for gall bladder removal and gastric imbrication/plication and this week I have had this nervous Jittery feeling a few times. I dont like it, and wondering if anyone else has had this feeling, cause I thought those who had the bypass only suffered dumping. I am in the mushie stage and not eating anything much other than my Protein drinks, yogurt, Soup, etc. Just dont know if this is due to the missing gall bladder or the imbrication. Thank you all P -
I saw a recipe the other day regarding pizza, and they just sprayed a little pam or a little margarine in the bottom of a non stick frying pan and sprinkle low fat mozzerella cheese over the bottom and add toppings. I would pre-cook some vegetables and then add to top of cheese and have your favorite homemade and or sugar free marinara to dip your pizza in. I wish I did remember the site, but the recipe was so simple I decided not to save the site.

I am going to try and make a long story short (hopefully) On Feb. 2 I had to have my gallbladder removed and was done so by the same dr. who did my lapband in 2010. During the gallbladder surgery he did the gastric plication (making stomach smaller). I will be beginning to cross over to pureed foods, and I have no idea how much am I expected or can comfortably hold. I mean is it a few table spoons or is the Protein measured in oz. I appreciate any information you can share, and Thank You. P

Thank you, from what I have seen mine is similar to the sleeve, with the exception that the part of the stomach that was removed with you, has been folded inward and stabled/sutured on me. My main reason for being in the hospital was the gallbladder. The day that I left the PA just told me to continue with liquids, pureed, then food. with liquids being 2 weeks, and same for pureed. I am not sure how much during the pureed stage. Thanks again
