Any Oklahoma City banders out there?
samcclintick replied to barepooh71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are dr gornichec patient? Sigi is staying here and is doing band fills etc. supposedly the new dr at Integris is supposed to accept his patients. But I've been told he has already turned people away. There is a group in Norman but I don't know anything about them. I'm just going to go to see Sigi as I know and trust her. If I have big issues I will go see my family dr and have him give a referral. -
I haven't posted for awhile. I have mixed feelings about the site. But. I had the band installed on nov 1, 2012. I got pneumonia and was vomiting with zero in the band. I got checked back in the hospital on 19 nov. My body rejected the band. My stomach completely wrapped up around the band and eroded a hole in the side of my stomach and food was going into my gut. I really don't remember the next couple days. But had surgery to have it removed and gut cleaned out. Also had surgery on my lung. Was in the hospital for over a month on feeding tube to my intestines while the stomach healed. Wasn't allowed to take anything by mouth for 3 weeks. Then was off work for another 3 months. I am told my stomach wrapped up to attack the band. I am not allergic to silicon. Also after the removed the wound-vac and stitched me closed. I rejected the stitches. They was put under the skin. But they got pushed to the surface.

Weird experience. Got a real high fever took some children tylenol, while this was happening I knoticed all my extremeties started swelling up. Once the fever broke it all just started draining out of me. Like someone was ringing out a rag. Looks like I'm low in potassium. As they tried to give me honking horse pills. I just was like there is no way. So now I have to figure out how to get in some potassium. Big news is I have small pneumonia . yeah -

9:30 fever spiked to 102.7 all of the sudden. Called the Doc Going to the emergency room to run some tests. I think I may be dehydrated. -

Ok my complaint of the day. I still haven't had a bowel movement. Adding benefiber, Nurse told me to take a Ducalox (sp) suppository. So I inserted on at 4:30. aroun 5:30 tried but it was clear, not the color you expect, but I have only been doing Clear liquids for the most part. Anyway was not the relief I needed. Get to try again at 9:30. Still having pain in my left shoulder. I have only had around 5 hours asleep, but oddly I feel better than I did yesterday. Had 12 oz of Water, with 1 scoop of musclemilk like vanilla, and mixed in Dannon vanillia greek yogart. Can't eat the yogart by itself as its to thick but if I water it down with water and muscle milk helps me get in some fluids an switch up the taste and protien. Susan Susan -

Thanks, I figure its because my stopped up bowels too. Is it possible to get backed up all the way to your kidneys. That is what I feel like anyway. I called the DR office waiting for them to call me back. He does all his surgeries on Thursday. So they have to catch him in between patients. Susan -

Nice to hear that I'm not the norm and that it has been easier for some of you. I think my biggest problem right now is the pain in my back and not being able to lie down flat. I expected to be back a work today. But there is no way I could have. I still haven't had a bowel movement. I am on all liquids. But can have some clear juices to make up for the carbs you get in other foods. I know I am getting at least 56oz of my liquids from water. The rest of the required 64 is from the juice. Getting around 50 to 60 grams of protien a day, but only taking in a couple hundred calories when I have 1200 to spend. The last time I weighed my self I actually weighed more than I did prior to the surgery. -

I started a post op November bandsters topic so we have a new place to share post op stuff. And not scare the ones who have their date by reading our new issues. Lol -
So I was banded on Nov 1, and I have had a rough go of it. They put me on morphine after the surgery that made me sick. My surgery was over around 10:45 and I must of vomited for the rest of the day and into the night. They ended up switching me to a different pain medication, but because I was getttin sick I wasn't getting up. Not to mention that I pissed my self each time I vomited. Had to have DH get me some depends as the diapers the hospital provided sucked. The new pain medication came aroun 1 am but they took it away at 6 am. I ended up having to stay another day. I stopped vomiting around the 6 am wakup. I don't know how they expect you to get any sleep as they wake you up contantly. Ended up having to have two insulin shots. Didn't touch any of the meals they gave me. On Sat morning around 2 I vomited once again, but that was the last time. Since I've been home I moved my self to the recliner because the flat bed was causing me to wease. I have been using the aspirator and walking 4 times a day, one extra driveway at a time. To top it all off I started my period on Monday. So I know I'm anemic. Doc told me if I stated experiencing flu like symtoms that ment I wasn't getting enough Water in. Had a low grade fever yesterday so I have upped my liquid intake. But I'm getting gas, not sure if its left over from the vomiting or just from the protien shakes. And I'm contsitpated. I'm sure thats from not getting enough water also. I am taking my Vitamins and Iron. And I feel better after I have stood up and walked. Streaching out those sore stomach muscles. This whole thing is scaring me now. I didn't expect any of this. I expected the pain etc but not the immediate vomiting and what has trasnpired since then. Any suggestions on the gas. May be so kids liquid gas x or some gas x strips?

Can the not put in the filter? I had the option of having it installed if I wanted before the surgery to filter out any clots. -

Tommarrow I go in at 6:45 am and will be banded by 10:45. Nervous but excited at the same time. -
I started out wanting the sleeve. I like the fact it didn't reroute anything. But during my pre-op exams, specifically the upper gi test, found out I have gastritis the cause of my acid reflux. I was told if I wanted the sleeve I would first have a seperate operation to fix the flap at the top of my stomach so I wouldn't have acid reflux worse after I got the sleeve. My surgeon wants me to do the lapband. Because if I get it I don't have to have the second surgery. I'm surprised your surgeon even said that, but like someone else said maybe she doesn't like to do them. Remember this is your choice. If the band is what you decide on and this surgeon won't do them, look around and find another. Make the best choice for you, not for your doctor. Susan

So day 6 of 10 day pre-op diet. So far it's been ok I haven't really been that hungry. However last night was hard. My hubby and kids ordered poppa johns. I made sure I was out and about when it got here, but there was left over. It took every ounce of willpower that I have not to eat a bite. Speaking of left overs I have been the main one to actually eat them, that is a habit I am going to have to break. I was always taught to not waste food so it will be a hard adjustment. I am nervous and excited. Only 5 days away. I haven't really told anyone. Just don't want to hear all the negative comments like why don't u just diet etc. I think I will send something out late the night before, so everyone will be aware but won't be able to say anything. At that point they are just going to have to deal with it. -
