Congrats! You said you might not feel enough restriction until third fill. I just wanted you to know there are those who never need a fill or feel right after the first or second fill. Focus on how you eat and how you feel. We all have the same goal but we also have different experiences as well. Best of luck to you.

There are lots of wats to get your protein. Chicken, fish, beans, veggie burgers (lots to choose from) I buy precooked frozen chicken and then add to BBQ or chilli. Can use to make chicken salad or in soups. This is a great time to get creative and have fun! I also don't make it a habit of drinking my calories it just makes me hungry sooner. I eat half cup 3 to 4 times a day I track on spark people and have been reaching my protein goals. Best of luck to you!

Bmi 30 - Am I Crazy To Be Thinking About This?
hely88 replied to dublinbandgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't think it's a matter of your bmi. I know someone who did not haven much to lose but her insurance covered it because she had severe blood pressure problems. I think it is up to what criteria the doctor has or insurance if using that. Only the person requuesting the surgery knows if it for them. Just remember its for life. Best of luck -
Overeating true is not required but it will be tough to eat only half a cup. I don't get a cup like most of you. It will be nice to not feel stuffed this year and years to come.

I was going to skip the meal and come back to visit but you all are so brave. I am going to eat with my family and take it as a challenge. I am taking my measuring cups, spoons , decaf coffee and sf pudding with me. Thanks for the inspiration

Careful with the slurpees. I used to drink all the time. Most of them have cafein and they are loaded with sugar and calories. There is usually a sugar free option at each 711 but they are usually a little sour. Some are crystal light brands and are totally ok to drink. I am vey sad that I know so much about slurpees but glad I don't drink them anymore. Matter of fact, one slurpees has more calories then I now eat for the day. Ugh.

What kinds of things do you like to eat and how much are you allowed at a meal?
-
I don't know if it will help you but I started adding comments to my tracker . First of all the time I eat and how long I feel satisfied and then I also add when I have those episodes as well where I am no paying attention or have problems or even if I eat something that does really well. Best of luck to you.

I was banded in 2008. I lost weight and then lost my momentum. I keep trying to lose and keep losing and gaining the same old thing. I thought I understood how difficult the journey would be but I didn't. I have decided to reset the process. I go in two weeks to have the x-ray and then they will empty my band. Then I go on liquid diet for two weeks and they begin to slowly fill the band. I want everyone to know you can have a second chance. I feel positive and motivated because going through the process once I do really know what to expect this time around. I also weighed and I have kept off 50 lbs. I look forward to receiving and offering support if I ever figure out how to use this site.

So when you have band surgery your pouch is smaller imediately because of the band correct? I know people may or may not need fills to get to the "sweet Spot" but while you are healing wouldnt there be a little bit of restriction because your stomache is smaller? Even if you cant really feel it the change has started right? Just want to make sure that I am explaining it right. Sometimes it can be confusing and I dont want to give any wrong information to anyone. I know even when i was off track I could never eat bread or dry meats. Thank you as always

It is very interesting how different it is for each individual. I met a lady who never had a fill and lost around 150lbs. She was mad the Doctor would not remove her port. Then I meet people here who have had many fills but do not feel much restriction. And of course the only journey I really know for sure is my own. Thanks for your help.it is always appreciated.

You can do it! the final straw was seeing some recent pictures of me.

I guess I dont understand how you can have 0 restriction if you have a smaller pouch. i understand you might need a lot more. but how can it be nothing?

My nurse says the size of your finger tip but that seems a lil big to me.

You got some really good advice. I also eat a lot of tuna and canned chicken. I also eat a lot of beans whole and refried. Look for low sodium choices. I personally dont like to drink my calories so I only do protein drinks when I have to. I do like the greek yogurt has around 16 in protein. Good Luck and congrats!
