Had Lap Band and have BIG sweet craving!
hely88 replied to wendythatsmyname's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree probably too tight. See your doctor before your band slips. I find decaf coffee soothes my sweet tooth but sounds like that is least of your problems. -
well I have to say that at this point in my band journey I get so tight its crazy. My back hurts so bad I can not stand up for very long. best thing that helps me is liquids per my nurse and cvs brand tylenol arthitis strength. I really notice a difference when I take it. those who know me know I hate being on liquids!!
-
I also get the runny nose. I thought it was just me!
-
Sounds like you have a good plan. I never had a puree stage. Went from liquids to mushy to solids. Keep up the good work.

I am so not an expert in relationships or marriage but 4 months is not very long. If you and he can talk about it thats great. I would try to be understanding of his feelings. I would be very careful not to nag. Maybe he has introduced other girlfriends to his family and found it it was too soon and doesnt want to repeat it. If you love him be patient. Best of luck to you.

i had a difficult time reading your pink font. i just wanted to say that my tom is horrilbe since i have had a few fills. I was so tight the other day that i could not eat at all and had to force down shakes. for anyone who knows me i hate to drink my calories. it was also very painful on my back and could not stand for very long. just keep in mind that the band along with your weight loss will change your body. you will always be relearning things you thought you knew.
-
full liquids, shakes, yogurts, sf pudding for me anyway. You really should get some info from your doctor.
-
what should I eat the day of my first fill?

My nurse just said to eat light. So I agree with the other posts. -
Awesome job!!!!!

The best rule is when you are not sure of something you should ask your doctor first.
-
You really should not be full but satisfied. The band for most people will not stop you from eating. That is why I always measure my foods so I know when to stop. It is really hard to learn what satisfy feels like because we are all used to eating too much. I also keep in mind that it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register what you have eaten. When I am really hungry I stop about half way through my meal for about five minutes. You have to find what is right for you.

My doctor does not use anything before filling. I barely feel it. Just don't look at the needle. You will be fine.
-
Be patient your body will catch up. Inches is better then lbs to me!!!
-
You can do it!!! Focus on your end goal. Cutting out carbonation was almost as hard as quitting smoking for me.
-
I would as your doctor. I use for either snack or meal but they might require something specific. Always clarify things with your doctor if you are unsure.
-
It does not hurt but the needle is scary just dont look at it!!
-
Are you taking any medications?
-
Sure it is. I gain up to 6 on my tom. However you really need to give us some background information in order for anyone to advize you.

Need a jump start to stay committed!

Not being hungry does not in any way mean you are getting enough protein. I am with Mis. I suggest you start measureing and tracking everything you eat and I bet you will find out the source. The basics are most important. The band doesnt make you gain or lose weight. Calories in vs Calories burned. Good luck to you! -
Make sure you go from liquids to mushy before solids. Some times people need to move a little slower so make sure you listen to your body.
-
maybe you need to start out with a protein shake. I agree maybe stay on liquids until you talk to doctor. You are probably very iritated from being sick. Need to baby your band for now. Best of luck and please keep us posted. Doesnt your doctor have an emergency number??
-
Congrats and Best of luck. Try not to focus on the horror stories. The majority of them are because of user error. Make sure you stick to your doctor's guidelines before anything you read on line. You will do great!!!
-
Glad its working for you. It would be really hard for me to do that because I hate doing liquids.

Too much swelling or just no appetite?
