I have been overweight all of my life.  In 2011, I was lucky enough to have Lap-Band surgery and lost 90 pounds in less than a year.  I was very successful with the band, although throughout it's course, I always felt like something was not right.  I could barely eat and when I did eat, I would throw up immediately.  When I was about 22 weeks pregnant, things took a change for the worse and I could not even swallow my own saliva.  My surgeon found that my band had slipped, and because he did not want another slip later in my pregnancy, he decided to remove the band.  It was very scary being 22 weeks pregnant and going through surgery, especially since they couldn't monitor the baby during it.  Everything turned out fine and the band was removed successfully.  My baby boy was born later that year... however every pound I lost came right back on in less than a year.  I maxed the scale at 296, which was 40 pounds heavier than I was 9 months pregnant!  I always felt hungry and never satisfied, plus I made horrible food choices when I was hungry.
Finally, after being sick of having no clothes that fit me and feeling horrible, I decided to go back to my surgeon.  He suggested the sleeve this time.  Luckily,  my insurance covered this second surgery as a revision, especially with all the evidence of how successful I was the first time.
My procedure was done on 11/18/14.  I'm home and feeling better day by day.  I know I can do this because I did it before.  I definitely forgot how tough it was at the beginning.  I'm sick of my shakes already.  The other problem is that I LOVE food.  As I've been sitting home, I find myself watching Food Network and searching Pinterest for delicious recipes.  It's definitely a mental battle and anyone that thinks this is the "easy" way out... there is nothing easy about this!!
