What to expect after surgery?
CaGottaBand replied to MrsFraga2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think going home by yourself will be fine. My husband took 5 days off work to help me and I really didn't need him at all. I actually told him to go play a round of golf on day two cause he was annoying me. -
I'm just curious, how many of you out there drink carbonated beverages? I'm just about 4 months post op and haven't had one sip of a carbonated beverage. But I have noticed that some people on here do drink them? If you do drink them, is it often? And does it feel weird?

I have the Nike Frees...love them! And if you buy them online you can customize the colors. I really like the Nikes because they are super light, but have tons of support and are like walking on clouds.

ON MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL
CaGottaBand replied to LapbandLo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal to feel nervous. I started bawling when they told me to say goodbye to my family that were in the staging area with me. Before you know it, the surgery will be over and you'll wonder why you were ever nervous. Best of luck to you! -
4 days post op. feeling horrible! help?
CaGottaBand replied to caitlin_new_band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's going to get easier. Try using a heating pad for th pain, sip as much Water as you can, take your pain meds on a regular basis and just relax. It will get better. Don't give up before you've even started. -
Hello all. I'm so sorry it has been so long since I have been on here. It has been a very crazy summer to say the least. My previously, somewhat, healthy father in law was admitted to the hospital on July 5th becuase he couldn't breath. It quickly got worse. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks and then released with hospice. Once home he got "better". Up and moving around and even the hospice nurse said she didn't think he needed to be on hospice. That gave everyone a lot of hope. But sadly he died five days later, he was 11 days shy of his 55th birthday. Of course there is a ton more to this story...he was a functioning alcoholic, a smoker and we found out that he had been using meth for quite sometime. My husband is one of four siblings and organizing the funeral and dealing with the aftermath has been problematic to say the least...he's the executor and his sibling are not happy about it. I think they think he is going to rip them off or something. It's been very stressful and is no where near over. But again, I'm sorry for not coming on here at all. I want to say I just didn't have time...but there's always some time to catch up. I'm sorry. Anywho, I'm doing good. Down a little over 40 lbs and no fills yets. I've been trying to make it a point to exercise every morning and just take better care of myself in general. Oh and I just had my one year Smokiversary on Monday (did I tell you guys I used to smoke? Yup, smoked for 17 years). Mike is absolutely over joyed that I finally quit and we celebrated on Monday with a trip to Cold Stone Creamery. I got a very tiny frozen yogurt with caramel and almonds...it was delish. I hope you are all doing well. I tried to catch up a little...but the shear volume is just too much. I did see that Janet had her knee surgeries!!! That is awesome! And Dee and Teri met! Again, awesome! Oh and I saw Michelle is in Onederland, congrats!! And Dawn has way too much candy right behind her desk...I 100% could not control myself around that much goodness! Looking forward to catching up with all of you guys. Bye for now Oh and on a weird tech note...I lost all my friends sometime in the past couple months. I looked at my profile and I now have zero friends...very weird.

Carbonated Drinks??
CaGottaBand replied to CaGottaBand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all your responses. I can definitely live without soda...but a mimosa every once in a while would be nice -
I never really paid attention to the size of the sip. I just drank normally. Don't be scared, you'll be fine.

Most doctors have a post op diet progression for you to follow. Call your doctor's office and ask them when you can move on to the next stage of foods.

Congratulations! Everything will go wonderfully!

Congrats and best of luck to you!

I concur! One of the biggest fights Mike and I have had was the day he tried to teach me to golf...it DID NOT go well. I got fed up and just wanted to drive the cart. He told me I couldn't drive till I could play properly. Huge fight followed. The "issue" actually ended up in our wedding vows...Mike had to vow that I could drive the cart whenever I wanted :-) Well, it's my last day of "weekday freedom". Back to work on Monday :-(. Getting my oil changed right now, then it's off to finish a couple projects at home. Hope you all have a great Friday.

I just added you :-) -
Quick fly by. Went shopping with the hubby today and he got me a fitbit for my bday tomorrow. Very excited to start using it. Now I'm off to dinner with some friends. Have a great evening everyone.

Wednesday, June 19th!
CaGottaBand replied to PrettyThick1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worked a full day and I was very antsy the whole day. I say work, it keeps your mind occupied and makes that last day go by faster. Good luck to you. -
Happy Fathers Day Sunday to you all. I'm greatly enjoying my time off, sadly only one week left :-( Been staying busy doing things with Mike, it's nice to have so much time to spend together. Today I'm off to my mom's for a Father's Day/my bday BBQ and some swimming. Then later we're taking my fil to dinner. Gotta go get my butt in gear. Hope you all have a great day!

Michelle, I hope and pray that your daughter comes to her senses and leaves the ****** bag.

Sitting and waiting to have some blood work done. Just left my one month post op appointment. Michelle, I met with Jerry. He was VERY nice. Everything looks good and I told him I did not want a fill at this time as I am sticking to 1 cup of food and not feeling hungry between meals. Oh there's head hunger...but I'm just trying to stay busy and ignore it. Hope you all are having a great week...they just called my name. Bye for now.

Good morning! No word yet on the interview. Tim McGraw concert was awesome! The only negative were the hordes of underage, drunken, scantily clad teenagers. I remember going to concerts at that age and drinking some before the concerts....but I don't remember dressing like a hoochie or being so wasted I was disrespectful to those around me. Ah well, I still had fun! And hooray for Sushi!!! Teri, so sorry about your fitbit saga. My bday is next week and I actually asked Mike for the basic one. Lets see if he remembers :-)

Shopping was a success. I returned a dress I had bought a couple months ago and instead got a couple shirts and $5 back :-)
-
I'm so sorry Carole. Losing a pet is such a hard thing.

I second that! I'm going to see Tim McGraw tonight...should be fun. But first, off to the mall....nothing fits me!! It's a good thing, but also weird. How is it that my bigger clothes are too big, but my smaller sizes don't fit. Clearance racks beware, I'm comin for ya!
