Keeping It A Secret
CaGottaBand replied to 4sweeties's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am keeping my a secret as well. I've only told my family and my boss. I'm not planning on telling any of my friends because I feel their opinions would be negative and I just don't want to hear it. As to why I told my boss, I feel like I had to, to justify all the time I'll be taking off for appointments. I think it's fine to keep it to yourself. You're doing it for yourself and no one else -
Would you mind sharing the recipe?

Good morning! So I attended the seminar last night and really found it not very helpful. I think I learned more through my own research online and on this forum. I did find one thing rather discouraging? Upsetting? Something? The surgeon who led the seminar, and he does not actually do the lap-band...a different surgeon does, he said he does not like the lap-band, does not recommend it, and that his partner, the one that does the lap-band, doesn't recommend it either. I found this very weird. This particular surgeon was ALL about the duodenal switch. So, I guess my question is....why did you all pick the lap-band? I know why I am. I want a life change, I want to have to change my lifestyle and work for the weight loss. I know if I did gastric, the sleeve or the switch I wouldn't change the behavior that got me here in the first place. Thanks for listening to me ramble

Aetna Approvals...
CaGottaBand replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great. Thank you. Just trying to get as much info as I can. And good luck -
Hello all. I recently attended my seminar and I have my first consultation on 10/30/12. I started trying to get my medical records from doctors and so far have only gotten my records from my previous carrier, Kaiser. After looking over everything they sent me, I think I have a problem….my BMI fell below 40 about two years ago…at the time I was losing weight for my wedding. Now I’m afraid my current insurance carrier, Aetna, won’t approve me because I haven’t been over 40 BMI consistently. I do have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but I’ve never been put on medication for either. Has anyone else had the same or similar circumstances and still been approved for WLS?

Aetna Approvals...

I have Aetna as well. Did you have to do the 6 month diet? -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
CaGottaBand replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know, I’ve gotten some pretty rude things over my lifetime. Everything from, “You have such a pretty face,” to, “To have sex with her, you’d have to roll her in flour and go for the wet spot.” (Personal “fav” of mine, told to me when I was 10 by my sister’s then boyfriend). But I must say the most hurtful thing I have been getting lately is by my in-laws. On several occasions, different in-laws have made comments to me about how they have recently lost weight and how they did it. These comments are made completely out of the blue and with no provocation. I don’t ask for their advice and don’t want it. For some reason, just because I’m fat, they think I need their advice. I just want to say to them, “Listen here bozo, I’ve been fat nearly all my life…if anyone knows how to lose weight, it’s me! Come back and tell me how your weight loss is going in six months when you’ve gained it all back!” Grr…really makes me mad. -

I Am An Addict And I'm Tired Of It :(
CaGottaBand replied to lyndeeboo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Reading your post was like reading my own story. Thank you for sharing/venting and just know that you are not alone! A lot of us feel the same way. I am just beginning my journey; my first consultation is on 10/30/12. I know that the lap band won't make me eat better, but it will be a tool to help me eat less, and give me the drive and determination to make the right choices when it comes to food and to exercise. Good luck to you -
Congratulations :-)

Which Type Of Protein Powder Is The Best?
CaGottaBand replied to DanaAdams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've always heard that Whey is the best to use. As to brands, not sure about that. -
Good luck!
