I really hope someone can help me understand what is going on. An hour or so after eating, even bland normal things I get this intense burning in my stomach and lower back. I then start to burp non stop, I'm assuming gas build up? I've experimented with many different foods, it happens with almost everything.

I called them and they wanted me to come in for an unfill. I don't think they are related. I've been in my comfort zone for six months now and I've been doing great. I don't want to mess with the green zone. We are leaving for vacation tomorrow and this couldn't be happening at a worse time.

I'm almost 9 months out from surgery. Everything has been fine up until recently. I take gas-x and it helps and I put an ice pack on my back and stomach. But the pain is horrible. I am barely eating anything in fear of this happening.

How would you know if your band slipped or if you caused vascular constriction to your stomach? I screwed up and took one bite of my daughter's pretzel and I nearly died! It got stuck and the pain was horrible. I was in Walmart too so I rushed out to the parking lot where tons of mucous came up. Now I'm sore.

Haha- thanks guys. Well my doctor told me a horror story of a guy eating a donut at a golf outing. He caused vascular constriction and his band slipped. I figured all it took was a donut!

Gas-X, tums, etc. I lay down then move your torso up slowly and it usually comes out.

I've had 3 fills but only a combined total of 4cc. I have restriction with some foods but not all. I've only lost 12 pounds since my October surgery. how many cc's does it usually take?

3 Weeks Post Op, Learning My Limits
amcolling posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm 3 weeks post op- I pretty much eat everything just little bits and nothing I know that will be rough to eat. When I eat I start to get tightness in my chest and I feel like there is a tree trunk going down sideways- I'm assuming-that is when I have eaten too much or too fast. My dietician says not too worry about measuring my food but eating until I feel full. I definetely know that my portions have dramatically decreased, this is with no fill yet. Still only lost five pounds. I feel like my family is expecting me to lose tons of weight and fast and I feel like I need to live up to those expectations since I am self pay. Any thoughts? -

PJ- if you don't mind me asking- what was your starting BMI? Mine was 38. I also only did the pre op diet for only two days. It is amazing how little I can eat now though- before I was an endless bowl. I know I will start losing weight but slowly. -
Just Had Surgery...

I can't stand protein shakes- I never drank them. Try gas-x and walking as much as possible. -

3 Weeks Post Op, Learning My Limits

I guess I meant satisfied- I'm not eating dangerously. I'm not eating more than a half a cup at a time since that is all I can handle. My dietician says you will drive yourself crazy measuring and weighing. I was very unsuccessful doing any of that- that is why I got the lap band. I felt I literally had no nerves to tell me I'm full prior to the lap band. That is why this was a good solution for me. -

I haven't ever thrown up. I am pretty much healed. What did your dietician suggest? -
Just Had Surgery...
amcolling replied to megamomnj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had sugar free Popsicles and water. You barely need anything the first week and you won't be hungry for a long time- that's all normal. I just had surgery on Oct 29th -
Does This Look Infected?
amcolling replied to Krystle Austin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing. A really bad reaction to the adhesive and steri strips. Wash with soap and water and use witch hazel - just pour it over the incisions. It helps with the itching and it's a natural astringent. -
I've been drinking regular coffee since week two- never had a problem. One vice I won't give up- enjoy it too much

Banded Yeaterday

Oh by the way- liquid Witch Hazel from your local pharmacy kept in the fridge- works wonders for my incisions and itching. It's a natural astringent. Best thing ever! -
Banded Yeaterday

Hi everyone. I'm 7 days post op. The first four days were rough. All I had was sugar free Popsicles (my saving grace) and water. I had some chicken broth too. My stomach turned to unbearably itchy over the weekend and today it's actually way better. I've eaten pudding and yogurt with no problems. My mom made me soup too and I haven't had an issue yet. Working was rough this weekend and I felt extreme tightness in my chest- I'm assuming because I wasn't walking a lot and my lunch got stuck. I've only lost 5lbs though. Starting 220 down to 215. -
I am 4 days post op now. I had a severe reaction to the adhesive they used on my incision sites so I have alot of itchy hives and blisters around my incision. I also have extreme bloating- I feell lik I look pregant or have cirroris. The days are getting better though. Incisions get itchy as they dry and you stretch them from moving. I have been living off sugar free popsicles, cant stand jello and cant stand protein shakes. I have already had pudding and apple juice. I havent had any major swelling because I can down a glass of water in no time with no discomfort. This weekend will be my first days back and work so we will see how it goes there. I packed a lot of pudding, made those cottage cheese casseroles and apple sauce. I havent been starving which is good- but lots of gas!

Just Got Banded On Monday!
amcolling replied to amcolling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it normal for your stomach to be so distended? I had a severe reaction to the adhesive on the banadages so I have blisters and hives around my incisions. I have been taking benedryl. It looks like I am about 4 months pregnant though since my belly is so hard and distended -
Hi everyone, I just got banded on Monday. I only lost two pounds from the pre-op diet. I am now 3 days post op and I am about to start the "puree" stage. I can't believe I didnt lost tons of weight in the last 3 days only eating sugar free popsicles and drinking Water. I am feeling good though and I am up and moving as much as possible. Any advice on losing the weight?

Just Got Banded On Monday!
amcolling replied to amcolling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I did a week of the preop diet and lost only 2 pounds. Now I am 4 days post op. I misunderstood the instruction because he hand wrote days 1-4 clear liquids so I assumed I started purée today. Well I ate a bowl of cream of wheat and felt fine. I called the dietician and he said to stay on full liquids until Monday. I have minimal swelling I guess since I'm tolerating everything just fine. -
My surgery date is October 29th. Very excited and nervous!
