I really wish there was a better way to explain it, but you'll just know when it happens. That's what they told me and BELIEVE ME, I realized what they were talking about shortly thereafter. lol

I agree with her, but if I am given the choice, I'll usually err on the side of sugar-free.

FDA: The Low-Carb Diet Is 'Sheer Nonsense' - The Common Voice
neveragain replied to Alex Brecher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my god. My head is going to explode. I've argued with Jachut on many occasions about this. lol. Honestly, this is how it works, plain and simple: -At this time, there is no diet on the face of the planet the blows every other diet in the world away by its amazing results, nor will there EVER be, more likely than not. -Having spent most of my childhood reading them, medical journals are NOT so politically influenced that they are as trustworthy as Cosmopolitan magazine. They are science. Is every study that happens perfect and totally definitive, though? NO! That's why they are done OVER and OVER in different circumstances, in order to rule out variables. -High Protein, low carb diets ARE healthy and not just fad. They are strongly backed by the ADA and a vast number of medical associations, not including the majority of doctors that will back that statement. They are also good for weight loss because they will curb your hunger a little better than the high carb diet. -High carb, low protein diets are great for athletes, especially runners. If you need a constant supply of glycogen, this is a great diet to be on. Honestly, guys, it just comes down to this: If you eat small meals often throughout the day and you work out at least 3x/week, it doesn't matter what diet you're on. If you burn more calories than you take it, you WILL lose weight. Period. As for me, I'm going to stick to my high protein, low carb diet. It's gotten me down 88lbs, so I'm going to stick to it. Sorry for the rant, but I had to get it out. lol. -
Okay, let's break this down a little: - "Fat men are gross!" is friendly fire. Not appreciated, opinion or not. - You said it in a obesity help forum. What did you expect to happen? - Finally, I didn't miss what you said the first time. You just should have kept your trap shut after that out of respect for your fellow posters. The expected response: "BUT, you can't tell me what to do! You're not my daddy! Blah blah blah..." I know, I know. Just try to be respectful. I don't go to all of my liberal friends and make an ass out of myself for saying that I hate Obama for "such and such" reason. You need to learn to pick your battles.

You're like a rebellious, pre-adolescent, problem child who just got denied their afternoon Cookies and milk. If you have something useful to say, go ahead. Other than that, save it for people who care. Aaaaaaaaaanyway, to the OP: Did I become more confident? Yeah. Did I find that talking to women was easier? Yeah. Did more women talk to me? Yeah. In fact, did I meet my fiance because of it? Yeah. Do women still hit on me? Yeah. Does it bother me? NOPE! So, overall, drop the weight, get some confidence, learn how to talk to women, and you'll be golden. John

Do you only eat three meals a day?
neveragain replied to lauragshsu's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm with you guys in that I eat small amounts of food throughout the day, but also keep in mind that when your body calls to you to eat, your body is already nutrient deprived, which means that your metabolism is already dropping. Having said that, I try to keep my meals spaced out to a mild schedule, but it's usually give or take 30min or so. -
How many calories a day do you eat?
neveragain replied to Sammysue78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Okay, from all of the physiology and nutrition courses I've taken over the course of my undergrad, without going into the chemistry of it, here is a brief and simple breakdown of how it seems to work: -Your body has two main nervous subsystems when it comes to eating/digestion: Sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (antithesis, or opposite, of sympathetic). - If your parasympathetic nervous system is activated, which eating small meals, often, throughout the day will do, your body can digest, therefore increasing the rate of metabolism in order to break down nutrients inside the body; however, if you are not eating and your body has nothing to digest, your metabolic levels drop, which your body does to preserve and use what energy it has efficiently. All in all, it comes down to a couple of things: If you eat 450 or so calories a day, your body will eventually slow down it's resting metabolic rate SIGNIFICANTLY, which is why your body will seem to gain weight, even though you're thinking, "WTF!!". So, if you crunched the numbers, you would still be taking in more calories than you are burning. If you eat 2500-3000 calories per day and you are not an athlete, you are taking in WAY more calories than your body is able to burn every day. 'Nuff said. If you are eating 5-7 meals per day and averaging AROUND 900-1300ish calories per day, depending on your size and average levels of activity, the chances of you steadily losing weight efficiently is very high. Okay, I'm not a doctor...yet, nor do I have a license to give medical advice, for the record, but I will tell you this, though. If you don't believe me, do your research at the library, NOT ONLINE. lol. Tip of the day, kids: EVERYBODY is different. Not every rule in the book is going to perfectly apply to every single person. There's always exceptions, but as a general rule of thumb, this is a keeper. Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but someone had to clear this up once and for all. Oh, and if you have any other questions about this, PM me and I'll try and explain it as best I can. :scared2: John -
Okay, I did p90x and anyone can, and frankly should, do it. It was all about just doing what you COULD do and build up from there. I would LOVE to do Insanity, though. It would be awesome... I really think that people shortchange themselves when it comes to exercise. I think people should be push their bodies to the limit, but while doing what they can.

Being honest, I never really thought I was one of those people, but lately, I have be realizing that I am a stress eater. I have a predetermined plan of what I usually eat when I binge. I'm really happy that I have the band, but I can't honestly say that it doesn't scare me a little bit nevertheless

I second this motion. lol. Anyway, mine has gone up and down, but with added exercise, your testosterone level WILL rise. I mean, I have pre-med school stress too, but still. haha.

Any problems with oral Sex After Banding?
neveragain replied to njudono's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL, but nevertheless: -
Being honest, you just need to do what you can with the walking. Even though walking is a little more high-impact than using the elliptical machine, your joints will actually get stronger. So, just do what you can and up your time maybe 5 minutes/week.

Can we start this again? I almost planned that meeting this year. haha. Thank god I saw that it was from a few years ago. lol
-
I'm here! I'm looking for some LapBand groups, too, so I'd love some friends down here, too! :cursing:
-
At 25, my sex drive should be through the roof, but honestly, lately...meh. Maybe its just this year...haha.

Hey guys! I bought the DVD for it's original price and I got all of the info with the nutrition guide and workout manual. It's really helpful. :bored: I've been doing in on and off for the past few months and I'm going to stick to all 3 months for sure starting next week because classes are ending and I'll have some free time for a while. Anyway, I absolutely love it and I would recommend it for anyone. Plus, he tells you to just do your best, even if you can't keep up. You'll catch up eventually!! :glare:

You're totally not alone with this. I can't keep alcohol in the house because if it is there, I will drink it. I really like to relax and not be so stressed. It's not that I'm addicted, it's just because I lack an outlet. I'm really trying to find outlets like playing basketball on an intramural team at U of A and exercise. Sometimes, though, I just want to relax and it's difficult to find an outlet... It kind of feels good to know that I'm not the only one...
-
Well, talk to your doctor about it, but I did the "insanity" workout from Beach Body probably 5 months after and it was incredible. You have to really want it, but I lost a TON of weight really fast. It's not that expensive either.

excuse us gentlemen, a poll from the ladies
neveragain replied to want_so_bad's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly, I've been there, done that. I'm not overly against it, but I prefer not to do it. I dated a girl who really wanted to try it and it just felt odd. Going along with that, she was also obsessed with anal sex and wanted to do it sans condom...yeah...not so much. To each their own. -
So, I decided that I need to "get up off the couch" and do something with more exercise. What better idea than to do a triathlon, right? I'm trying to convince myself to enter. It's in early december, so I would have time to train between now and then. I'm not in horrible shape, but I could be better. I'm down 35lbs, down to 255ish. I guess I just need convincing that I'm not just wasting my time and that i'm going to make an ass of myself in the process. HELP???? :faint:

I got banded in March of 2007 and by December of 2007, I was down almost 100lbs. I was looking great and everybody could see it. I was SOOO confident!! I met my fiance a month or so after that and ever since then, we've both gained 30-40lbs and our eating habits have been really bad. I've been up and down in the interim, but I'm getting so frustrated because with my schedule and all of my stress from school, it's really hard to be motivated. What do you guys do to muster up more motivation??
-
Actually, it's kind of an interesting concept, or so I've heard. The reason behind this is that because the second workout you do won't be nearly as effective because you'll be incredibly tired already and your body will wanting to repair itself and not creating more damage. However, if you really do want to do this, I would say that do one in the morning and one in the evening with 7-8 hours inbetween to give your body some time to recover. Make sure you get your protein in after weight training and good luck!!

Wow... While it is a fantastic idea, I also think it's a bit intrusive...
