Are scales with BF% accurate? What brand?
neveragain replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say it's a no go. If you want to know your body fat more accurately, go to your doctor. -
A thread for Single Bandsters
neveragain replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone! Sorry for being so sparse, I've just been really busy lately. I'm still single and I'm definitely ok with that. I would like to meet someone, but I'm not desperate, partially because they would get the short end of the stick here, seeing as though I barely have time for myself, mind you someone else. haha. I hope everyone is doing well and I'm going to try to put in my .02 more often. Anyway, just dropped in to say hi!!!!! -
I'm not worried about the swimming or biking. I was on a swim team for 10+ years growing up. Running, however, is the devil in disguise because I get so incredibly bored. After 1.5mi or so, I'm really tired, but I'm more just bored out of my mind. Music doesn't help, either. Meh, I'll get there. This is day 5 of tri training. I'm down to 255, so everything is getting a bit easier, too. :-) To jacqui, your health is the most important thing. PLEASE don't do anything you think might re-injure yourself. I know, I know, being able to spend every moment with us here on the board sounds appetizing, but practice some restraint. :-P

Ok, I just got my first fill and I still feel ravenous. I can consume my "normal" portions again and that makes me nervous. Granted, it has only been 4 days, but still... I'm starting to gain a little weight back and I need to get my ass back in gear. ARG!!!!!!!

It's not totally totally for women! For those who wanted an update, that's a little overdue, by the way: I started seeing this girl not too long ago, maybe a month or so, and I really like her, which reminds me that may still be a little bit of self confidence that got tucked away somewhere between 260-290lbs. hahaha. -

I'm soooooooooo tempted to do this. I could use the time away... Only question I have is if I'm going to be one of the youngest guys on the boat, or at least on the LBT side? I'm 22, btw. -
My necessities: - My sportbike. I can't live without it. It's my stress-reliever. - Either Muscle Milk or SlimFast Low Carb shakes. - Obviously, my laptop I'm sure I'm missing something else, but at the moment, it's very late at night and my brain is on some sort of autopilot... I'll update as needed. Oh, and I need to pluck my eyebrows. Yes, I pluck my eyebrows, and yes, I'm a complete wuss about it, too. :clap2:

Ok, so I'm done with dating sites. So, so done. It's too much cat and mouse, and an unsure one at that. It's an exercise in futility, if you ask me. I mean, ok, I may not be the most desirable man in the world, but I'll tell you, I think I should be doing better than this. Truthfully, at this point, I'm tired of having to approach women. Why can't a few women come up to me, for a change, on the OFF CHANCE that I may ACTUALLY be worth talking to...granted, I may have a small ego, which I consider to be necessary for a doctor to have. I consider myself fairly confident, pretty intelligent, driven, well with words, somewhat witty, mildly sarcastic, and dare I say, maybe a bit attractive, possibly even charming on occasion... Any takers? hahahaha. -
Sometimes I wonder about you, BB...your stories are quite intriguing.

There is two things I see wrong with YOUR post. Based on the information that you gave, I see that you MUST know what you're talking about...but the problem is that you don't...and you're wrong. Sorry. There have been NUMEROUS studies done with HUGE samples of people that indicate that people on a high protein/low carb diet have not only lost a significant amount of weight by following a sensible HP/LC diet, but also decrease the need for insulin regulation in diabetics AND lower risk for cardiac events in some patients with heart disease. If you would like to see those, I'll do my best to find them online, but I have the hard copies in my room. I will agree, though, the best method is calories in to calories out. Now, on to soy protein. Soy MAY have an effect on hormones if taken in high doses, yes, particularly isoflavones. In the beginning of the century, and even now still, there's debate about whether certain isoflavones increase the risk of breast cancer. They tell menopausal women to take soy because it MAY help soothe hot flashes. There's a lot of reputable studies out there that say, also, that soy protein can decrease the risk of cardiovascular events. The benefits go on. I really apologize if all of this comes off in the wrong way, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't tell people something if you're not 100% sure that it's correct. That kind of thing is what creates panic about everything causing cancer.

It'll be in the garage by the end of the year, possibly by the end of the summer.

Persistent and constant confusion, as usual. haha. I would really like to meet someone who I'm actually attracted to. I've been out with a few people, but I have yet to meet someone who has the mutual feeling. I like dating, don't get me wrong, but it is a real pain in the ass sometimes. hahaha. -
I would hope that my doctor wouldn't suggest Phen-Fen. This is going on the assumption that he's read a medical journal in the last 10 years. haha. I don't know why, but I would be really scared to take any weight loss pills with the band. Anybody else say that their doctor would support this?
-
The weeks up until mushies were the worst. I'm a little over 3 weeks post-op and I've been eating normal food since last week just fine. Bearing in mind, strictly by the doctor's orders. Believe it or not, if you go take a long walk in the morning, I found that I was less hungry throughout the day... Just my .02, though
-
As of this morning, I'm down 22lbs. I have no idea how this is possible, but I'm not going to complain. I mean, I haven't been eating bad......correction a couple of nights ago, I had a few bites of a chocolate bunny. Truly, more than anything else, this band hasn't really too much restricted what I eat, but more has changed the way I FEEL with the amount I eat. I just have no drive to overeat.

Slow loser needs advice from good losers
neveragain replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, watch the kinds of food you eat and also the portions... Remember, weight loss is purely calories in to calories out. -
I haven't had any trouble with rice, but I can't say that I've eaten a ton of it either, though. My doctor said try to stay away from the sticky white rice, though, most of all.
-
I love exercise when I can convince myself to do it...which is more often that not, but still. hahaha.

Here's a few random pictures. That lake is Canyon Lake, just outside of Tortilla Flat, AZ. The three guys are my riding buddies that I went with that day. That beautiful girl is my friend Megan on the way up to Canyon Lake. The other picture is me on my bike a few months ago.

Girls: After you lost weight do strangers give you more attention?
neveragain replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
I just have to say that there are some times that I'm ashamed to be associated with the seemingly brain dead male population. I can't say that I can ever relate to feeling like a piece of meat, per say, but I have been in at least one relationship that ended because of my weight, so I kind of got the other end of the stick, I suppose. I'm not going to sit here and say that every woman I've ever looked at, I was wondering if she wanted to be friends, but I CAN say that I've never rudely whistled or yelled at an unsuspecting woman. It's just useless and tasteless. Please don't take this as I'm putting myself on a pedestal. I've done stupid things in my life just like everyone else. I'm just agreeing with the girls that say that some guys are neanderthals. I'm just happy I was raised to treat women with respect... -
I was going to put a whole thing about how love is, simply, a chemical reaction and, make no mistake, it may very well be. Why, though, would I want to put all stock in that? I don't know. I'm bitter. Now, to more specifically answer your question about what I think: I think that love can be felt by one person, but I think that it intensifies if both involved parties felt the same.

Kristen, you look great!!!!!! Too bad you don't live closer...:speechles haha
