Coffee good/ bad effects on banded
neveragain replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Every now and again, I'll take down the skinny iced caffe mocha, but RARELY. I do like coffee, but I'm not HUGE into it. Tea however, is nummy. -
A thread for Single Bandsters
neveragain replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, so I managed to land a BEAUTIFUL girlfriend earlier tonight! YAY! She and I have been seeing each other for a month and a half-ish. It's been really amazing. We met on the EHarmony bit and it's been great. When we were talking on the phone, I decided to bring up the possibility of the boyfriend/girlfriend thing. She was pretty enthusiastic about it. I can't tell you how happy I am. YAY! haha. -
Neveragain... where are you?
neveragain replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shockingly, I'm still here. I'm down to right around 211, but I think tonight may have hurt a little. 5 pieces of pizza and right around 4-5 shots-ish of spiced rum. I don't know what it is lately, but I've had more alcohol in the past two weeks than I've had in the past year. Weird, for sure. Oh well. It's not like I plan on maintaining this and yes, I'm still a bit tipsy. ha! I hope you're doing well! I'm going to head up to phoenix pretty soon to see/meet my new girlfriend's parents for the first time. I'll let everyone know when, if we want to get out to lunch or something. -
I'm a pre-med at U of A, so I have forever to go left. haha. Gotta love the MD...
-
As much as I would love having to drive up to Phoenix with my double vision (thank my incredible stupidity for wrecking the bike. haha) to see everyone, I'm going to juuuuuuuuuuuust stick around here. Is anyone interested in doing this some evening, preferably a Tues, Thurs, or Fri by chance?
-
Agreed. That sounds really good. What size of a jar of salsa?
-
I've got 3-4 days of cardio and 3 days of lifting, but that's all at the moment. I'd love to get myself on a soccer team or something. Meh. We'll see.
-
3-4 times a week is the best. Just keep building yourself up. The more you push yourself, the more you will improve. Keeping in mind that if you push yourself too hard, you'll injure yourself. Good luck!

Has anyone asked you if your on drugs?
neveragain replied to amc581's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know, I know. Telling someone that you put a band around the top of your stomach is embarrassing, but I promise that you'll live. Some people will give you crap for doing it, but f*** them. Your heart, pancreas, brain, etc. will thank you later. -
1/2 a cup? I don't think so...

What she said ^ haha. -
Congrats

I'm going to break this down to simple for you: pizza & pancakes = Bad monkey

Good lord...yet another retarded study. Ignore it. MOST of those are glucose with a bunch of sugar alcohol's attached to it. Your body gets confused because it doesn't know what it is, so it sends it down the intestine to be excreted. Show me a study that is reputable and THEN we'll talk. (Not pointed towards you. haha)

I'm really putting myself out here, guys. If I didn't think the world of people on here, I wouldn't be mentioning this...and I really apologize if this is in the wrong forum... Ever since I've lost a little weight, I've had more chances to have sex. Great, right? Not so much. Whenever I attempt to have sex, I physically can't. It's because I'm so nervous about it and/or the possibility of getting them pregnant. It has really come to a point where I have little or no sex drive. I'm sure it's not a physical issue. Truly, it is absolutely demoralizing when it happens, and it's I'm not really sure why I felt the need to publicly humiliate myself by posting this, but I just hoping that I wasn't the only one who has this issue and to see if anyone had any advice...

Does anyone know how many calaries are in these foods?
neveragain replied to NOlanebryant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never knew that that calorie counter existed... Niiiiiiiiiiiiice. :tt2: -
If only I could make one at home...that would be amazing. lol.
-
If you go to your doctor, you may be able to convince him to give you an anti-nausea medication, but if not, I'd try either ginger or that activated charcoal stuff. It generally tends to work.

When did you start gaining weight
neveragain replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, I was always the fat kid. lol. No story about that. Just the truth. -
I've never heard anything like that... I really really doubt that's at all possible. See there's four types of stones. Calcium, uric acid, struvite, and cystine. Usually, you see struvites with UTIs. So when you pass it, get it tested for what it is. I know that sounds disgusting, but you need to do it. Oh, and I passed a uric acid stone a week ago. Yeah, thaaaaat sucked. Whatever you do, drink a SHITLOAD of Water and try to stay away from soda. It'll take less time to pass.

Various types of protein powders
neveragain replied to jennifernc88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like the MetRx Metamosyn Protein if you take protein before you work out. Any of their proteins aren't too bad. I like the vanilla and chocolate ones better an any other powder. If you don't mind buying shakes, my favorite BY FAR is Muscle Milk. Any of their flavors are fantastic. Honestly, I tried unjury and I don't like it. Oh, and I have yet to find a protein that doesn't add a smell or taste. I'm sure someone has, though. -
If we can't take NSAIDS, then what can we take?
neveragain replied to rakes4321's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your doctor is an idiot. Well, not an idiot, but entirely too careful. Naprosyn and ibuprofen are both NSAIDs. Both of them are just fine. If you have surgery, you might wait a week to two weeks. Technically, you don't have to. The reason why doctors are somewhat careful about prescribing NSAIDs is that they all have blood thinning properties. It is incredibly mild, though. ^Applicable in MOST situations, but not all^ Acetominophin can take the liver whereas ibuprofen can take the kidney if they are overdosed, by the way. -
Various types of protein powders
neveragain replied to jennifernc88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Protein IS high in calories, but it takes more calories to burn them, too. SO! You can eat more because of the calories used to break it down. :tongue2: I would say no, and if they did, steer clear. I could be wrong. I never saw any in any of our stores nor have I been able to find any anyway. I try to stay away from lots of soy protein, but I do drink a little of it. As much as I would love to risk getting man breasts, I'm good where I am. Oh, and as a woman, you should look into it more so than I. I used to really like chocolate, but now I can't stand it. I really like mixing the fruit ones. MMMMMMMM. Yummy. Seriously, you're going to find that some that you like, other people hate. Just try different ones. See what you like. Start with the generic GNC ones. They're not bad at all, in fact, those are the ones that I generally use anyway. -
Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
neveragain replied to milton5a's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
While I agree that that wouldn't hurt, my point was that life is just one more thing that, as obese people, we have to deal with and that we should just learn how to manage. If we don't know how to get over things that bother us, we're going to fail in life. That also means all of the things that question our self-confidence and/or in social interaction. PLEASE don't take this as I'm poking or prodding at you. In no way, shape or form am I trying to do that. -
Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
neveragain replied to milton5a's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Okay, okay, look. There are some bastard people out there who are so self-absorbed that anyone who isn't skinny or athletically built is just annoying sewage, but come on. Is there REALLY a reason to complain about it? We have the rights and abilities of most people, yet there's so much complaining about it. Bluntly, people, life happens, get over it. Make no mistake, I was ALWAYS the fat kid growing up, so I didn't just start eating to much and pack on the pounds. There were times where I was discriminated against, but how do you think I learned about life what I know now? How do you think I know how to handle certain situations to get the benefit of the doubt? I don't mean to sound like I'm criticizing anyone. If there's anything I've learned after my accident, it's that life happens and then, for who knows why, it goes on. So, take it for what you will.
