Arthur is amazing, & such a nice guy. I've chatted with him on a few occasions. As for the knees, overall it doesn't really rely on having strong joints/muscles. You can alter every position with a little planning (maybe a chair for balance, for example). I have bad knees & a trick back & I didn't have any issues when I was 1st starting out--other than a sore body & having no doubt that I was working it! Haha When you order, you get access to their forums & training tips, etc & Dallas is always watching the posts so he's very interactive with the members. It's nice. Like a family or something. Sorta like here... Everyones in the boat. Lol ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com

Sleeve Verses Rny - Friend Pleading That I Shouldn't Get Sleeve
mwrarr replied to HOLLAND's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All I can go on is my experience & what I've been told. I decided to do VSG. My sister had RNY 3 years ago. These are my own rationalizations... RNY is hypothetically reversible. But WHY would you? The risk would be higher than doing it in the beginning. They create multiple stomas which are each a leak risk. So undoing them creates another risk. Additionally, while the pouch stomach is very small, it is made of the stretchy part of the stomach, which contains the gherlin-producing parts, & can (& has in many patients) restretch to astonishing capacity for how little tissue is used to construct it. VSG is not reversible, but again, WHY would you want to undo something that worked to cure your obesity? Additionally, a sleeve is made if the less stretchy part of the stomach, so while it will probably relax over the years, it will never be able to stretch out to full size again. Pyloric valve. And associated structures near it. With RNY they have to keep the pyloric valve & associated "tubing" so that certain chemicals, hormones, bile or what have you, can still be introduced into the GI system. With VSG, it's left alone, so it's not an issue. The retention of the use of the pyloric valve, along with avoiding the malabsorption piece (I have had pernicious anemia, and chronic low bit D), are the main reasons that I'm choosing VSG. I know the rumor is that sleevers lose slower, bit that doesn't seem to really be the case based on what I see here & in local support groups. And sleevers seem to recover faster with less overall complications (although the complications they do have can be much worse). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com -

My experience with Yoga in general is that it's not for weight loss. At least, in all the years ive been practicing it, I've still been heavy. Flexible & calm/centered, yes...but heavy I've been doing yoga since I was a child & my grandmother taught me. videos of yoga in general are just plain old strange IMHO. thanks for the suggestions... I personally find Rodney Yee hard to follow, especially his vinyasana flow. (especially as a fat girl lol) I also agree about the pseudo celebrities who all think they should be yogis now bc it's trendy...annoying. I didn't even know who DDP was when I got the program. I did it at the insistence of a friend. He's definitely got his own style, but omg it WORKS. if I knew how to post pix from the app, I'd show my day 1 v day 31 comparison pix. I got out of the habit of doing it, unfortunately. Gotta restart so I can be strong for surgery. Seems from what I read, being fit before surg makes recovery easier. 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com

I tend to go more for yoga pants (fitted around thigh, looser from knee down) but I have some jogging (& danskin too) that I'll wear at the gym. All black (lol IS there another color???) with a long tshirt. I've gotten most of mine at target & kmart but my old navy ones are nice, too. My gym wouldn't notice sweat pants at all, but i personally won't wear them bc they are so heavy & itchy. 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com

Coffee Ok In Liquid Stage Post Op?
mwrarr replied to ditto88's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My packet from NUT says Water, coffee, tea, crystal lite, Jello, SF Popsicles.... But personally, I have a bit of a funky tummy & coffee seems to exacerbate it, so post-op I'll prob wait quite a while to test it out, if ever. 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com -
I can relate. I had a terrible marriage, and everything I tried to do to better myself, he'd have a snarky comment about. I had considered RNY at the time (bc VSG wasn't an option) and he fought me the whole way, even talked down to me about "normal people don't need outside help or Groups or meetings...they just quit whining and DO IT." I wish I had just done it for ME, anyhow. It wouldn't have fixed my marriage, but it might have prevented 6 more years of self-esteem issues that *maybe* were weight related. I can't really tell you what's right for you, but if you think you have even a pinch enough in you to be strong for yourself...do it. You might surprise yourself at just how much power you still have inside you. :} 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
mwrarr replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait to... NOT stand in front if my closet for half an hour trying to magically manifest a cute outfit NOT decline invites NOT hide behind hoodies, hats or averted glances instead of making eye contact because in my damaged brain, I'm convinced that people are just trying to justify judging me. NOT avoid family trips. I SO want to take my kids to Darien Lake next summer. I avoided it this summer bc I LOVE roller coasters & waterslides, but I can't do those anymore...for now! NOT feel awkward in my body in EVERY moment/experience of my day! NOT be a slave to whatever crazy diet change I'm in the grips of "today". To not have to think about stupid foooooood so much. Grrrrrrz. NOT hear the applause when I try to jog &/or just walk too fast (or during certain adult activity positions lol) NOT hurt/ache so much. I know there's a possibilty that it won't necessarily improve w/wt loss, but I'm STILL HOPING! :} 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com -

This is one of my biggest worries, even as far back as the 1st informational session. I've been working on my weight steadily since 2007. I have been at my current stall since Jan 2009. I've tried every plan imaginable, even changing to strange & prescribed diets along the way. My metabolism was so messed up that when I started seeing the NUT last Jan, I gained 15# by following her advice (increased intake/types of foods). And in 9 months, I have not lost anything. I'm so worried that the surgery won't work, either. But entirely hopeful.... 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com

Suggestions For Cooking With A Mini Crock-Pot
mwrarr replied to LizTex2587's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Omigosh I love the mini crock pot idea. I have a full sized one already. Love the ice cube tray idea...ingenious! I have a ton of cream Soups in the freezer already, but maybe I should take the time to thaw them & freeze into cubes before surgery. 347*294/284/135 (*347HW/294SSW) | (twitter) @Mwrarr | mwrarr.wordpress.com -
