Average Fills to Green Zone????
babykins529 replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Took me 7 fills. I have 6.0ccs in my band. I was banded Jan 30 2013 and reached green zone last month. My surgeon is non aggressive on my fills and I basically stated how many ccs per fill. Everone is different. Best of luck! -

Anyone know what this might be ??
babykins529 replied to beme999's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be that the nerves in you abdomen are irritated from surgery... -
What else will change??
babykins529 replied to cantpauselife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing they didn't tell me was how happy I will be. How proud I am of myself. How I'm becoming ME again. I have NO regrets. Everyone is different after surgery. I wasn't hungry at all for about a month after surgery. I had to force myself to eat something. I followed all the rules. I was banded 1/30/13 and so far I've lost 44 pounds. I'm not working out in the sense of a gym workout but I take the four flights of stairs at work...I park far away...I walk my dog every day...I landscape now...I swim with my daughter and I go out with my girlfriends dancing. Stuff I haven't done in yeads due to my weight and insecurities. I eat better and so does my family. I'm not near goal yet, but I have a realistic idea of what that is and for the first time, I have confidence that in a couple years I will achieve it. I'm glad you are asking these questions. Its important for you to know as much as you can. Just remember this is what you make it. You can go as far or not as far as you want it to go. -
New bander info requested surgery nov 2013

Have you been banded or are looking into it? -
Yeah but the flip side of that is...they will pay more down the line due to a lot of serious health issues that comes along with being morbidly obese. That was one of the reasons Medicare started covering bariatric surgery. Yeah they mighy shell out (or more like the tax payers will shell out) a big chunk off the bat, but if that lowers BP, cholesterol, DM and so on, then its worth it for them. Its a win win for both parties. But I agree with them finding canidates who are serious about it. I was never denied, but I called Cigna and was active with them and my PCP and the bariatric doctors office. Plus I'd had them back when I was thinner, so they watched all the weight pile on and all the comorbidities that went with the weight gain so maybe that's why they immediately approved me...

Oh you got it in the bag baby!! Perfect birthday present!@

Unfortunately, you can't eat the same things the same way you used to. You can have some every once in a while but what was the point in getting banded if you are just going to fall back into the same routine? Some people don't want to give that food up, but they exercise to make up for it. Now I don't know what kind of foods you've been eating, but I'm sure its not what your body needs to lose weight. I hope you can help yourself to figure this out because once you do, and you really start losing weight, the feeling you will have is indescribable! Best of luck!

I would like to know how your lap band surgery has affected your family?
babykins529 replied to fee139's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because I eat better and less, so does my family. It was difficult in the beginning right after surgery, my hubby tried to make a separate meal for me but eventually he either just made what he wanted and I picked what I could or couldn't eat or I made my own meal if ut was too late at night since I refuse to eat after 6pm. My kids see me making better choices and so do they. We were never a family who had desserts or sweets but on occasion so that wasn't a big deal...you adjust and so does the fam I guess. We don't do fast food anymore and when we go to restraunts, I basically eat off my hubby or get soup and salad. My son loves that he gets my left overs... -
I have yes. I'm down 40 pounds and I've noticed and so has the hubs :-)

Let me get this right...some of you drink soda? Whoa!!!
babykins529 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every now and again I take a few sips of diet coke or beer, but I can't drink a whole can or bottle. It upsets my stomach and gives me gas. So maybe once a month I enjoy a sip or two. I listen to my band and I think that is the most important thing. I don't ever force myself just to indulge my head lol. Best of luck. -

I have CIGNA and I've heard its one of the hardest insurances to get approval from. They are huge sticklers on documentation so make sure its all there. My nurse was awesome and it only took four days to hear back with an approval on the first and only try. But I was a crazy lady making sure my nurse had EVERYTHING they needed and I jumped through all CIGNAs hoops. Fingers crossed for you!

Where is the port, exactly?
babykins529 replied to aviva1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that is where my port is. They are usually near (not at) your longest incision. It will be sore for sometime because it was sewn into the muscle. Mine still gets sore from time to time if I'm doing a lot of activity or bend wrong. -
I can't brup either and I was band January 30 2013. Let me rephrase that...I can but its not the same as before. And I can't if my pouch it too full.
