I was always active as a child. I played roller hockey with the boys in my cult-a-sac, I did softball for many years, and my family was big into water sports. I also snowboarded most of my teenage life. That all stopped when I became pregnany at 16 years old. I had to stop being a teenager, and start being a mom. I was lucky to be able to bring my son to school with me since they had a special program from teen parents. I met my bestfriend there. Now our kids are bestfriends. I gained a lot of weight when I was pregnant. Most of it was due to being on mandatory bedrest at 28 weeks. I literally couldn't be up for more then 5 minutes at a time. Very quick showers! It took me a couple of years to lose the 60 pounds I had gained. I was young, so it wasn't a big deal. My son's father and I got married right after I graduated and a year and a half later, he found someone else to love. I fell into a pretty deep depression and lost over 50 pounds. I was the thinnest I had been since middle school. I've always been curvy, so I didn't look sickly, I still looked healthy. A couple years later I met my current husband. The love of my life. This Feburary will mark 9 years for us. After we got married, I got pregnant with our daughter. I had already gained back some weight, but not too bad. I only gained 28 pounds with my daughter. I lost it very quickly after having her. But it didn't stay off. I gained it back, and gained, and gained and well, you get the picture. I had never been heavier in my life. It was starting to effect my marriage. I know my husband loves me no matter what, but really, who would get turned on looking at a bunch of jiggly fat? I can't even look at myself in the mirror, how could he look at me and feel desire? I had tried all the diets and exercises throughout the years, and I'd be successful at some, only to gain all the weight loss back, and pack on a few more added pounds as well. I had enough when I had a hard time fitting into a booth at the restaurant. When we would go out with our friends and I'd be so embarresed about people's reactions that I stopped wanting to go anywhere. So I looked into bariatric sugery. I found Dr. Halpin and her wonderful team, and I couldn't be happier. I will be banded soon, and I look forward to my future as being able to be me again. To bring out that trapped girl that so desperately wants to enjoy the things in life that she had to stop due to weight.
