I have had 5 fills and I am presently quite limited in what and how much I can eat. My surgeon said it can take 4 to 5 fills before you feel a difference. I had my surgery December 8 of 2006 and I have only lost about 45 pounds. This is my own fault. I did not see my surgeon for several months. Now I am catchung up. I may have him remove some fluid when I see him this week as I am very limited in food choices and amounts. Good luck to you and keep at it. Linda M.

I am totally unable to eat bread. I am able to eat croutons on salad but that's it. I have tried toast but it comes up no matter how long I chew it. At this point I am also unable to eat steak, pasta and rice. I can eat small amounts of chicken and salad. Lately I've been living on soup and salad. I am seeing my surgeon on Wednesday and I may ask him to remove some fluid because I am eating very small amounts of food and I still end up getting ill. Also, I am having heartburn at times which I think may be a sign that there is too much fluid in my band. I'll see what my surgeon says this Wednesday.

Debbydo is back & humbled
Linda M. replied to Debbydo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Debby-I am new to this site and I know exactly what you are going through. It does remind me that the Lapband is a TOOL and is to be used as such. How often I forget this, I always feel so close to failure-However-The post-op support group I attend has been very helpful. My surgeon doesn't want to see me unless I think I need a fill. I'm a little nervous about it but he seems to think I will be able to tell when I need a fill. Good Luck to you and keep believing that you can do it and you will! Linda M. -
Banding at Betencourt
Linda M. replied to PorkerChick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mya-I can tell you that I am 47 years. When I was 18 I weighed about as much as you do. LISTEN TO ALEXANDRA-LISTEN TO YOUR MOM-IT'S MAJOR SURGERY.You do not need it. You may need lipo-but you certainly should not go forward with the surgery-especially not at Bettencourt. When I was 18 I was way too immature to make such a major deision-No offense meant-just my opinion. -
Any vegetarians out there?
Linda M. replied to Serena's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgeon has his patients do one month of the post-op diet. I think I lost 2 pounds in the month. However, it was enough for the dietician to reccomend me for the surgery, which was good enoughfor me. I had my surgery December 8th, 2006 and I'm down about 40 pounds so far. I was interested when you said you are a vegetarian because since I have had the surgery I eat lots more veggies and very little meat. Meat does not agree with me at all since I had my surgery. And that's ok with me. Good luck to you with you upcoming surgery.
