Almost 8 weeks out and down 48 pounds
theby_88 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it's been 8 weeks since my official surgery date but I still have another 4 days to go from my official weight in date at home so that's the date I am going with as my start date, LOL. Hopefully I can get 2 more pounds off in these next 4 days and I can hit the 50 pounds lost mark at 8 weeks. I am so happy. Especially with these last 2 weeks. My weight loss has been really consistant and it has made me feel more confident in my decision to have this surgery. The first month and a half I still wasn't sure if I made the right decission thinking I was gonna be the one who didn't lose weight, like everyone else thinks, but now that the weight is starting to come off quicker it gives me hope that with time and dedication it WILL all come off. Thank you to everyone on here who has helped me with all my questions and who have been so supportive. I appreciate everyone of you and will need you to lean on again I am sure. I haven't taken another picture but I will soon and I will post it. -
Woohooo I am so excited. Today is my official 2 month weigh-in and I have lost 50 pounds, 94 pounds from my heighest. I am so happy to have lost 50 and am finally feeling like this surgery was worth it. It has taken me awhile to get here just because of all the changes I have had to make and the fact that I can't eat food to make me happy. I never relized how much I relied on food for my happiness but I did 100%. I think the weight loss and feeling healthy and having more energy is my new happiness. I still have my moments when I miss the crappy foods that I love but for the most part I am doing pretty damn good. I can't wait to lose more and feel even healthier and more alive. This is amazing!!! To those people who are having a hard time just hold on as tight as you can. You WILL get to a better spot I promise!!!

50 Pounds down in 2 months!
theby_88 replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are very welcome. I want to remember how I felt and do feel and make sure to come on here and let others know it's normal to feel certain ways and just because some people won't admit things, bad or not, others do have the same feelings as you and it's ok. I will always be honest about how I feel no matte who agrees. There has to be at least 1 person out there that feels the same way I do so I am not alone. -

To be honest everyone is different. I started with those 1 oz medicine cups they gave you at the hospital. I drank out of those for probably a week drinking one of those cups half at a time. I would sip half the shot cup and then waited a min and drank the rest. I am able to drink quite a bit at one time but there are others that can't drink as much as me at one time so you just have to sip a little more a little more at a time to see how much is too much. Don't push it of course cause you don't want to make yourself sick. Start with the shot glass/medicine cup and drink half at a time waiting a min or so before you drink the other half and then when you feel like you are ready or you want to try, drink the whole shot glass at one time. I got over those quick and I was thirsty all the time so I started using a small kids cup and would just sip it and them eventually was drininking it. Just listen to your body and take your time. I haven't really been afraid to try things to see what would happen cause that's what you are going to have to do eventually to see how you react to things and I have been lucky with it thank god. Hope this helps. Again baby steps, listen to your body but don't be afraid to try. Good luck and you can ask me anything anytime. -

Thank you I usually exercise Mon-Fri for about 20 min in the morning. I drop my daughter off at school and then walk around the neighborhood around there and then walk back to my car and go home and get ready for work. I also lift hand weights and use bands to strength train. I should do way more but I haven't. I love the walking videos by Leslie Samson. You can get them at walmart or target, online, almost anywhere. I use her tape to strengh train with the bands. She is great for all ages and all sizes. She only has like 5 moves she does so it's easy but it will def make you sweat! Hope this has helped. -

wow that is crazy. I am so glad you are doing beter. I would of been so scared. What a trooper you are. I hope nothing else bad happens to you. You have dealt with enough I have been drinking the pre-made shakes. I think not having to mix them helps with the mental part of the shakes cause I just hate them. Especially with Water. I am going to try this coffee kind called Click that I heard is good and also nectar brand. I am gonig to email them and see if I can get a sample pack. -
Omgosh the 42 g Protein drink

My NUT said the protein shots are not good and that we should drink them. Just a FYI! -

I started drinking a Protein shake in the morning that is 30g each so I think it's because I am getting in all my protein cause it's easier to get 30g out of food then it is 60g. Sometimes I will have another shake for dinner if I am not up to cooking. That's all that I really did different I think. How are you doing? -

Hmmmm I don't know if I can handle that graininess in my soup. I tried o add protein powder to my soup once and it was gross. And it was suppost to be flavorless. FYI, it's not. Hahah -

Thank you Heather. Sounds like you are doing well yourself. Just keep it up and always shoot for the protein and water. You body will eventually adj and the weight will start to come off faster. You are right PMS def doesn't help either, LOL. It's nice to go through it and not gain though I have to admit. It was weird for me to go through Thanksgiving and not gain too. I am so use to failing the diet during the holidays. It was nice though. I have heard about Matrix. I still have a whole bunch of different one's to try. It's hard cause so many people have different opinions about what shake tastes good but I guess it's up to your taste buds hahaha. I will still keep trying them though as people tell me about them. Keep up the good work -

Yeah I didn't enjoy the bars from costco either. The chocolate shake is do able and the vanilla is ok but I don't think I could drink the vanilla everyday. I am not really a fan of any of that to be honest though, LOL. I am super picky! -

What brand do you use from Walmart? I have always been a chocolate girl but maybe I should branch out to vanilla or strawberry. Maybe I can find one that tastes better. Do you add Water or milk? -

Again just give it time. You have to be consistant with the protein intake. I was doing that too and I think that is why my weight loss would fluctuate so much. Plus remember everybody's body is different and needs more or less time for others to recover and catch up to the new way to live. You can do it. Believe me I was giving up faith real fast and the weight loss came in just enough time to pick me back up. Hang in there tight. It will all come soon I promise! PS. It will take time to get all your protein in and Water so don't rush that too much. Do what you can do and it will come eventually. I came to terms that I wasn't going to be able to get all my protein in if I didn't do at least one shake a day so that has been what I have been doing even though I hate them and they taste gross. I have to get pass that and just get them down till I can find one I can tolorate better. I drink the premeire protein from costco. It has 30g of protein in 1 drink. Its worth the gross taste now but it def wasn't in the beginning, LOL. Good luck my friend. I am here anytime you need to talk. -
I think that is a myth but maybe ask your NUT and let us know LOL
-
I have heard this isn't true. Where did you hear about this because I have heard it too but was told that it was a myth?
-
I will tell you what everyone else has been telling me, just wait it out it will happen. I was like yeah yeah when they would tell me that but it is true. Listen to your body and make sure to get all your protein in. That is sooo important and I have found that I lose more when I get all my protein in. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks so give that a try and just remember it takes time.

I felt the same way and I was very discouraged. Just really pay attention to your Protein. I started drinking at least 1 Protein shake a day which has 30 g of protein in it and I feel like that has been what has helped me with the consistancy of the weight loss these last 2 weeks. I don't know if it is but from the beginning I have been able to tell more weight loss with more protein. Just hang in there. It takes time for your body to adjust and not eveyone is the same. People told me that too and I was like yeah yeah whatever but it is true. Are you getting in all your protein and Water? -
