I just went through this too, and my band was too tight. You are at risk for aspiration when you wake up coughing and throwing up. Call your doctor.

When was you banded and how much u lost?
crazy11777 replied to destinyford's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded April 1st 2013...and I've lost 97 pounds! -
I have went through this twice, where I had a fill last July and then all of a sudden in October I was tight. I had an unfill in October then in February happened again where I was too tight all of a sudden, had a complete unfill for 2 weeks. My doctor said as you lose weight your body changes, and it can also be colds, weather, allergies, etc. It is odd and frustrating, but oh my goodness being too tight is no fun! Glad you are feeling better!

I want to know if anyone has any commonalities with this situation. .... I had a fill last July all went well til October when I had heart burn 3 days in a row.... and a small unfill.... all goes well til February of this year when I spend 2 days vomiting... removed all my Fluid for 2 weeks to let everything rest.... had a fill 10 days ago and everything has been good since but today I have heart burn again. So back on liquids til I can see the surgeon monday for an unfill..... I am frustrated because I have to keep being on liquids and feel like I am going backwards. How does my band keep getting tight when I'm not having adjustments?
-
That was mentioned when I made the appointment.... just can't wait to figure it out!
-
Yes tightness correlated with heart burn and my surgeon says anytime I have heart burn it is a tight band. That is my question how I am I getting so tight when I'm not having fills recently before? I am seeing my surgeon monday and will have an unfill and he says he will answer all these questions. Just curious if anyone has had this before when you are 3 months post fill and then tight.

I do a boot camp class and although ive never vomited id get very light headed due to low calories. Definitely a protein shake. I started this and use gatorade no calorie during the workout in place of water and havent had that problem for a while. -
Well I went in today for my slight unfill due to my heartburn, and he took out 0.5 cc. Liquids til tomorrow then can start back on mushies, but he said I am dehydrated so have to skip the gym today and push the liquids. But he was very impressed in my weight loss, and said don't get concerned if I gain a few pounds back this next week since I hadn't been eating much. He said he would do another fill if I keep gaining. Love my MD!

I have been having problems too... I havent had a fill since july but the last couple of weeks it has been more difficult to eat... then the last few days I have had heartburn on and off. So last night I emailed my surgeon and h3 called me back and said liquids only until he can unfill me which ia Monday. I am okay with that so I can see him, and I trust him. I am just wondering how I became tight all of a sudden... things that make you go hmmmm.... Hope you do well with your unfill. I am a little worried about having an unfill.

Hi Guys- I am looking for some suggestions to slow down while eating and taking smaller bites.... I know it sound so simple, but I find myself oblivious to this rule when eating. I think about it before I eat to remind myself, and after when I feel miserable. I have had episodes of regurgitation recently, and it scares me. Just wondering how some of you have made this a habit during this journey? Thanks for your suggestions!

OMG the list could go on and on for most of us I am sure: - Right now wearing a XL shirt with horizontal stripes and feeling good - Seeing my collar bones, which made me feel good cutting all my hair off short. - Down three sizes in jeans - Crossing my legs - Running in softball and not always getting out cause I am so slow - Not getting out of breath doing the stairs - Buying clothes from regular stores, not plus size - Not afraid to leave food on a plate - Fitting in between equipment at work and being able to tie my isolation gown in the front (almost): I am a nurse The list goes on and on.... I Love my band and although we have rough days I wouldn't change a thing! Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and remember even the small things mean so much to us.... and not always the number on the scale! -
Thanks everyone for the tips... I am 6 months out and down 73 pounds which makes me so happy, but this darn slow eating seems to give me the most problems.... I appreciate all the suggestions and will try them to find the right thing for me! It gives me great comfort to know that I am not the only one who has this problem, and that everyone can relate to this problem. Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

I was measured by my trainer on June 4th, and then today........ Drum roll please!!!! 18.5 inches lost!!!! And I bought my first pair of Buckle jeans.... I am in awe at all that I have accomplished since my banding April 1st.... 67 pounds down and feel so much better! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

Absolutely take measurements before and some pictures. I didnt do it til 2 months after surgery when I went back to my trainer. I wish I would of done it before but csnt change that. The feeling of seeing the numbers is wonderful! I have been getting rid of clothes along the way and receiving a lot of compliments but seeing the number was the best for me and gave me the motivation to see my hard work is paying off.

I had an episode today.... ate too fast and there you have it. Im about 5 months out from surgery and have done this a few times..... im getting better with eating slow but every once in a while I forget and oh does my band remind me!!!

I understand totally! I have a very supportive group behind me for the most part, but I remember one of my best friends saying at the beginning of my journey during a conversation " I better get to losing again so you dont beat me". This friend is slender and had lost some weight during her divorce the bad way of not eating, but I just laughed and said " I'm not in a competition with you and I am far from being your size right now. But if you feel you want to get a jump start go ahead." At first I was offended, then I thought I bet she is scared of my progress coming so quickly. I am in this for myself, and I don't let anyone get in my way. Of course I slip once in a while, but I make those choices fully knowing what I am doing. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

I finally broke out of the 300 pound world! I had my surgery April 1st, and have lost 58.5 pounds..... I haven't been out of the 300's in a long time. I almost couldn't believe my ears when the scale spoke today!!!! Now on to break out of the 200's which will take some time, but every pound lost is a pound closer to onderland!

Got to love the confusion about 'ideal weight'
crazy11777 commented on lellow's blog entry in lellow's Blog
It is weird to me that the MD's ask or tell what the goal weight is when having the lap band... I understand why they do it since I am in healthcare, but that goal number is so overwhelming to me. My MD just said when you get to the weight that you can maintain and are comfortable then you have hit your goal! I am more comfortable with that thought process, although I still weigh myself once a week since it is the way that I judge if I need a fill along with the way I feel with my eating. You lose until you are comfortable with you which I believe is a struggle since we always tend to believe that we are "big" and see all our flaws. You got this girl! -
I just bought a polar brand heart rate monitor... Cost 100 off amazon... And love it! By one that has the chest strap with the watch... Much more accurate in my opinion/experience Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

I could eat PB on my mushy phase post op, and still use it as a snack sometimes. As a matter of fact I used it today for a snack prior to my workout!

This is so funny cause I really thought I was the only one who stuck my spoon in the jar to get a spoonful for a snack! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
