Wow.. This is exactly why I left this forum for another. I thought I'd give it another try and see if it had calmed down and this is the 1st post I read?! Saying something like eating less calories and staying away from sliders etc works and that's what I believe just sounds silly! Of course it works but we were all big for a reason, because we had no self control over food, messed up head/huge appetite, whatever the reason. That does not change over night for most people, well researched or not. It is not quite as simple as 'here are the rules follow them' and everyone will be able to straight away. Sometimes people need a shake up and to be told but I really don't think your thread was the right way to do that, just look at the reaction it provoked. It didn't benefit anyone. You can't just say 'no offence intended or didn't you read that'. I nearly laughed! You did mean to offend with your judgemental wording. You may get frustrated with people that lie and cheat themselves but that's just it, they are cheating themselves and are obviously doing it because they can't mentally get their head through it all. I didn't change my thinking over night. If my food addictions were milkshakes then I would probably find it a lot harder than I have. I stalled for six weeks! Despite changing things around, increasing my Water take etc my weight stayed the same to the point. If I had read your post at that point I would have been very upset. Instead, I was given patience, understanding and support. Lots of people relaxed and gained over Christmas but we've all moved on and lost that and more. I doubt I could have admitted that here. If you are doing well, yes give advice and let people know how you are doing it but at least try to fake a bit if empathy whilst you are doing it to those that are struggling to live with a band. As others have said, yes it is annoying when threads are posted minutes next to each other but I'm sure you can ignore them if people are getting the responses and attention that they need.

I found it really helpful as well but maybe I'm in a different place at the moment and another time I would have felt differently. Not everyone is there to say there there and give soft advice and comfort, there are people further along the journey than we are and it's good to listen to them as well. The post came from a good, helpful place and you may have been upset by it but from the outside your response was way harsher.

The November 'band'wagon!

I'm an October 'bandster' but goodluck to the next round of you! stick together and you'll be fine x -
It's on my banned list as well as bananas cause they're too stringy/fibrous.

My provider advised lactulose solution or you could try movicol or dulkolax which you mix with water. Try to avoid things like fybrogel as it bulks up and can solidify around your band opening if you don't drink enough water.

Thanks! Had mine on the left side so very happy -
I'm back home after my op on the 9th. We travelled back on the Eurostar today. When I first woke up I was really frightened cause I was in do much pain I could barely breathe at all. I've never felt anything like it. They gave me 3 lots of meds and an injection. It eased a little. The next day and night I was still in a lot if pain and it only started to ease about 10am today. I wouldn't have coped without my husband there. He was so good, he even had to brush my hair for me and put my pants on for me yesterday! I couldn't have any ibruprofen as I had a stomach ulcer from it last month so all I could have was strong paracetamol via the iv every 6 hours. The hospital was spotless, very well organised and everyone spoke very good English I managed to drink a glass of water and a Dutch crisp bread which was easy as it turns to nothingness before swallowing. The green broth soup I couldn't face. I've been living off of ice peach tea as its nice and smooth and I've had a protein shake this afternoon. I have 5 clexane injections to do at home and I have ted stockings to wear for 5 days. They've given me some domiperidone tabs and some dissolvable paracetamol. I'm sat on the sofa now with my feet up and I'm surprised how much better I'm feeling than yesterday. The surgeons words were 'you will feel like a bulldozer has run over your chest except it was me!' He was right!! My lips have shredded like a snake! Is that normal? They're peeling like crazy.

Please help? Where have people had their ports fitted? Did he ask where you'd prefer it? I'm worried he'll put it on my right side cause I can't sleep on my left or my back so if really struggle to sleep until its completely healed and then struggle again when I have a fill! I will ask when I get there but I'm just worrying now. I get a lot of back and left hip pain, not just being fussy -

I'm tempted for my 'once in a life time' holiday to Orlando in may 2013. I wont but If i wasn't worried about getting filled back up to a good restriction Id definitely be tempted even more do it! Being excited about going in holiday and wanting to relax and enjoy eating out regularly doesn't show that your whole, general attitude to food hasn't changed; it shows that you want to go on holiday and enjoy eating as part of that! No matter how much my life changes with weight loss there is no way ill ever not be a little bit sad I can't stuff my face on holiday! Fortunately I haven't been on a holiday for 5 years and probably won't go again for another 5 after this one! Part of going on holiday for most people is about eating and drinking in different places. If I was tempted to do it for a party or wedding I'd be cross with myself but you have to admit your feelings to yourself before you can begin to deal with them. It would be a pretty expensive party for me if I did it as my fills will be £100! As a newbie and not knowing anyone some of the comments read as very judgemental and abrupt. I nearly left thinking this was a bug much for me and i hadnt even written my First post! There's tough love and there's the need to think about what you type a little bit. If it sounds firm when you type it, it'll sound 100x worse when someone else reads it without knowing your understanding/helpfulness etc behind your message. xx

I will, I promise. I'm was ok but they've just changed my hotel yesterday to the campanile in vilvoorde from the lodge hotel. The difference is huge. I was actually really looking forward up staying in the lodge hotel and it was helping me focus knowing I'd be staying somewhere nice but now staying an old beige looking thing. I leave on the 8th and I'm going by Eurostar. My consultation is in the evening and I go into hospital at 7am the next day. I'll have the op, stay the night and will be discharged at 1pm the next day. Not sure what u know already/don't want to know but I'll keep updated!
