    Post Op Feeling Bad

No. I've been caffeine free for 2 years. However, I did eat a lot of sugar before the surgery. I think that's why I'm having blood sugar problems. I think I was diabetic but never diagnosed. I started hitting the protein heavy this morning and just now (4 hours later) starting to feel a little better. I do have vitamins but I haven't been taking them regularly. Will work on that.

    Post Op Feeling Bad

I have talked to my doctor and he said to watch the blood sugar and not let it go over 200 which it hasn't. During the first 7 days I had clear liquids (protein shake mixed with water (1 a day), 1/2 calorie apple juice, broth, sf jello). Day 8 (2 days ago) I started on full liquids eating (1 or 2 protein shakes a day mixed w/skim milk, campbells creamy tomato soup, popsicles and jello). However, I only eat about 1/2 of everything because I get full. Also I have been using immodian for the diarrhea. Today, I bought a bottle of Propel w/calcium and added a tube of New Whey orange flavored protein to see if that will help. I lost 7 pounds the first week. What can I add to my diet that will help?

    6 days post-op

I was banded on April 14th. I've been on clear liquids since but today I had to start adding more protein shakes to my diet because I was having blood sugar problems. I still have to make myself eat. Hope I can stay this way (not hungry) for awhile.
  4. I've 5 days post op and the last two nights have had a low grade fever 99.6. Is this normal after surgery?
  5. I was banded on Four days ago and I can't get rid of this terrible sore throat. Everythin seems to be fine but my throat is so irratated from the tube they put down my throat. Did anyone else have this? And if so, how long did you have a sore throat? Thanks

In our case, pain is only fat leaving the body. LOL

    Post Op Foods

It's so strange how every doctor is different. I understand that the doctor I will be using says only clear liquids the first 10 days, then 10 days of full liquids and then 10 days of mushies. Seems kind of harsh in comparison to your doctor.

    Arizona Recommendations

The $8200 does include fills for life. After a couple of fills I may switch to Dr. Orris' aftercare program.
  11. I'm scheduled for lap band surgery on April 14 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I'm really getting nervous and I'm concerned about "what if I have problems after surgery"? What were your thoughts about aftercare and problems when having surgery in Mexico?

    Arizona Recommendations

I live in Phoenix and plan on being banded on 4/14 in Mexico by Dr. Aceves. I have several friends who has been banded by Dr. Aceves and they think he's wonderful. I went to visit him a couple weeks ago before I made my decision and he was very nice. I thought he and his staff were wonderful. The hospital was very clean! Just something to consider. Oh, and in total everything will cost $8200.

Someone told me I couldn't have protein drinks because they are not considered a clear liquid. Was she right?

    Moral Dilemma

    1) Something is fishy with the caretaker. I think she might have had her sights set on Mr. P for a while now because he is rich. Maybe she is making Mrs. P look worse then she is. 2) I know Mr. P is lonely and would like companionship. My mom suffered for 15 years with a terminal illness and the last 3 years were horribly for my dad but he was a real trouper for her and never let my mom down. He was by her side 100% until she died. 3) Out of love and respect for his wife Mr. P should suck it up and be a man and take care of his wife. If the shoe was on the other foot he would probably see things differently. 4) Don't change who you are Carlene. You have morals and values and if your not comfortable with Mr. P's behavior with the caretaker stick to your guns...your entitled to your beliefs.

    Help In Louisiana

I don't know if any doctors in your area that will do the surgery on a teen. However, a lot of doctors in Mexico will do it for you and most of them are really good.
  17. I want to have the LB surgery and have done all my research. I've decided to go to Mexico. My DH and grown children and giving me a really hard time and think I am making a big mistake. They say that I'm one of those people that "if it can go wrong...it will" and they don't want anything to happen to me. I'm not scared. I'm excited about this. However, I love my family. What can I do to make them see things the way I do? Thanks for all your support.

    Family Support

Thanks for your insight and support. I have been having some very lengthy discussions with my DH and he is coming around (but still scared for me). My daughter won't even talk about it. She's a surgical technician and thinks that only American doctors and hospital know what their doing and are clean/sanitary. Again, thanks for your help!!!
  19. I'm thinking about getting the lapband surgery and have been doing a lot of research. I'm thinking about using Dr. Ortiz in Mexico since I've only read positive info on him. However, I have been seen where a lot of people who have had LBS are having complications and that scares me since I will be self-paid and can't afford a lot of medical problems. Should I really be worried?
