I'm dealing with the same kinds of feelings. I can't understand why doctors can't just order the darn xrays if a patient wants to check things out! It seems like we are left to "figure out" our bands on our own and not given the tools to do so. Thank goodness for the support boards that help us get through it all. Good luck with your repair. Talk to your MIL yourself and tell her you're so sorry you can't come, but.... Then your husband is off the hook to some extent. There is no reason for him to relay your personal medical information. He can just ask his mother to talk to you about it.

You are such a good Mom! Please remember to take care of yourself. When you get home be sure to schedule a time for someone else to take care of you, whether it's the beauty parlor or a spa. Are all of you working on your stripper names for the Vegas Bash? Yours are hilarious, Darcy.

Sounds like you are ready to set a date. Good luck.
-
You are on your way! Yes, it's usual to be nervous. You'll do great.

What great advice from everyone. I hope you feel better about your progress and have the encouragement to continue with your goals. I have the same trouble with eating in the evenings and haven't found good ways to avoid it. It sounds like you are a very experienced and insightful bandster. Hope things get back on track for you.

Wow, Girl! I missed that moto pic while I was gone. You look so hot!

Well, Betty, you have no email button, so here's my email and #: rebecca@moonfrog.com 707-442-2041

Sorry, it was a locally owned coop. They had a travel size (about 8 oz.) on clearnce. I'll pick them up tomorrow and give them the taste test.

Great job you two!

I just got back into town today and couldn't get on the board. I thought it was my computer! I was not a happy camper! Theresa, hope your chemistry situation works out for you. So close! Hang in there! Betty, I'll send you my email and number. That way we can freak out together! You are getting very close to your appt.! I did my bi-weekly weigh-in and was down 2 pounds since Friday. It doesn't count because I was on mostly liquids. Check out this bad behavior: my "liquids" on Saturday and Sunday included a premium ice cream bar and 2 (yes, two!) pieces of pumpkin pie! OMG! I'm behaving myself today. At my doc appt Friday I found out they had me down at 5'6". Told the doc I have always been 5'4". He insisted on measuring me and put me down for 5'3". I am NOT happy about shrinking an inch!

What great timing! I just looked at some of that today. I'm not taking my vitamins because I don't like them. I was afraid to buy this without knowing the taste. AND it was on sale! I'll go try it out.

Hope your trip goes well and your stay is as good as it can be. You are a wonderful, caring daughter. Be sure to take care of yourself, too.

I just returned from my doctor appt. I posted on the Talked to the doc....post about it. Gotta zip out of town for the weekend. I'll post an update on Monday. Still on liquids until then. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

What's the difference between an endo and an upper GI?

Back from Mexico and I am a Banster!!

I agree with you Penni. I usually seek out female doctors because they are easier for me to talk to. They also usually don't try to "boss" me. Even in my 20s (the dark ages) I wanted to have control of my own health. Even birthed my children at home. I want a doctor who can diagnose my problem and then talk to me about the options for care. -
You look great, biker chick! You sure have lost a lot of tummy, and your arms look lots slimmer, too. Your pool looks like a major project. Will it take a long time to fix it? Hope your day went well.

Did your kitty scratch you because she's mad that you are making plans to get rid of you plush tummy pillow? :Bunny Hope your surgery goes on as planned.

I am not counting this weight, since my "official" weigh-in day is Thursday, but that fickle scale said 194 this morning. It's because of the liquid/soft phase I've been having, which is going to continue. I'll post separately about it. I am doing much better now that my scale is in the garage, which is separate from the house with a lock and a heavy door to lift up. Twice a week (or so) isn't as bad as every time I pee. I'm still counting 196, -53 as the official weigh-in. Everyone is doing great! The Lisa/Penni race is heating up! :banana :Bunny

Penni: 4/6/04 -- 47 lbs Lisa: 5/5/04 -- 51 lbs Becky 6/03/04 -- 53 lbs TOTAL LOSS -- 151 POUNDS

Good morning Darcy, Gee, what an image to wake up to! No wonder they call you Gross Darcy! Just kidding. Sorry about your slimey incident. I've still avoided going there. I think you are being too hard on yourself. You are doing great and still losing. It would be nice if it went quicker, but it's also nice to live a normal life. Do you have some little dishes for eating ice cream? I eat out of tea cups most of the time. I kinda collect cute dishes, so I enjoy it. Of course, I could fill up a tea cup enough times to make it useless, but I'd have to think about it more. My relapse into liquids has given me a nice loss this week, but already I'm trying to make up for it. DH bought a sugar-free apple pie and I've eaten 2 pieces, just the innards. I don't even LIKE apple pie! Go figure! I guess the slippery little sweet things just felt good going down. Good luck in this new week everyone!

Starting lap-band process

Welcome to the journey! Being nervous is very normal. Research all you can to know what you need. Read lots and ask lots of questions. -
new girl on the block!!

Sounds like you have quite a few options in your area. My insurance paid for the hospital and anest. and a little on the surgeon. I still paid $9000 out of pocket. I was glad to have some covered so I could use a doctor who wasn't too far away. Choose someone with lots of experience and make sure you have good follow-up care no matter where you go. Good luck with your research. -
Hey Betty, My DH asked about getting my coat made smaller, too. I'm not worried about it. He's getting some of the new FX wear eventually (protective riding gear), which is expensive. So I'll wait until after he does that. Then it will be my turn! I am doing a little better. I'm taking Nexium and not eating much, just softs or liquids. There is definately something wrong. I'm trying not to panic. Just waiting for Monday so I can call my doc again. I'll let you know what happens. I'm not at all happy about not being able to eat right, but maybe I'll drop a couple more pounds to compensate. I'm actually weathering this fairly well considering what a worry wart I am. I'm sure it will be fine.

OMG! They put a tube down your NOSE! I probably would have run away. I'm waiting to talk to my doc about getting a test done, but I thought it would be down my throat. I AM planning to ask for knock-out juice. Hope you are done with that and can get on with your banding. :sick

Yeah! That's a great step, Leatha. You will meet new people, exercise, and gain some great social exposure. Major step and very exciting.   My husband has promised to take dance lessons with me. We know lots of dancers. My dad is one of them and it would please him greatly if I learned. I'm not ready yet. You are an excellent example for me.
