Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Marie, OMG! I took a zero on an oral report from my favorite teacher! I worked really hard on my shyness "problem" after that, but losing this weight has been a real boon. I feel better about myself now than I felt when I weighed the same for several years -- of course, that was going up the scale and now I am going down. Thank you for the kind words (and the generous offer of the bat-wing gift, Betty :laugh.) I really needed that today. GULP...I did my official weigh-in (for my records) today and I lost nothing, due to gaining a pound or two since Monday...I'm sure it is "water weight" and not the halloween candy I ate. :straight Well, buckle up and back on track. And I agree, Betty deserves the Best Bandster of the Week award.

Boo Hoo - Appointment Canceled for one day

I second Zoe on the fudgsicles. I treated myself to one or two a day. Even my docs gave reluctant consent since they were sugarfree. They are soothing to the throat and to the psyche and to the chocolate monster. After our last shopping trip, my husband said, "OH no! We forgot the fudsicles." I told him I was cutting back on them. They helped the most for me to ease any feelings of deprivation.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

I missed exercising yesterday because we were canning tuna. :guess It seems I always have an excuse. But tightening all those jar lids should help with the bat wings under my arms. I bought bat wings for my halloween costume -- really -- I should have just used the ones I have. :laugh I actually am looking forward to dressing up -- showing off I guess, which is so NOT like me. I am the stereotypical shrinking violet in a crowd, trying to find a job to do so no one will give me undue attention. That is certainly changing!

    Back and Banded, too!!

Congratulations on your banding, all of you! It sounds like you are on your way to healing well. The pain under your left breast is probably your diaphragm. It gets stretched by the gas they pump in and is very sensitive. It also causes the referred pain to the left shoulder. Hope it calms down soon.

Boo Hoo - Appointment Canceled for one day

Hang in there, Betty. Clear Liquids was the worst stage for me, even though I wasn't hungry. I looked forward to each new stage of eating, all psychological since I wasn't hungry. Here's a kicker for you. I was four weeks out and it was time to start solids. I was sooo looking forward to it...then I wrecked my motorcycle and had a swollen lump pushing on my esophagus. Back to liquids, not even mushies. I was so bummed. I had a major pity party then. Tomorrow you will advance and nothing will stand in your way. :Bunny

    Should I care?

It sounds like you are doing great, Babs. You sound so "normal!" You can eat well and you are still losing, even though it seems slow to you. Good luck with deciding what to do next!

    Hair Loss

Thanks Blossom. Now I just have to figure out how to "fix" this stuff. I've never done anything but wash and brush it. LOL! And, Betty, I did take a picture, but just couldn't post it. I will take one later and put it up. It doesn't look bad -- just different and 35 years is a long time to wait for a change. It's still sorta long, but very strange for me.

    Hair Loss

Well, I had my hair cut from my waist to just below my shoulders. It hasn't been this short in 35 years! It's in my way, but it doesn't look as thin now. My husband said it makes me look younger. What a sweetie! He likes it; I'm still not sure. But it works for now.

    THE moment..

Gee, Lisa, you're making me cry again.... I think my first push was when my husband and I sat down to look at our wedding video. We "ran away" to get married with just one friend there. We watched the video and NEVER showed it to anyone else. We were both so sick that we were so big. I couldn't believe that he had married me! That was January of 2003. I went back to college the next January (this year) -- at 49 years old. I couldn't put the fold-up desk down over my lap. One instructor even asked me if I was all right. The seats hurt. That along with the aches and pains of being too heavy, the fatty liver, my PCP wanting to put me on cholesterol lowering drugs that are bad for your liver, and heading toward diabetes. I told my husband that if I ever reached 300 lbs. I was having a bypass, even though I think it is a drastic surgery. Then I found out about the lapband online. In 3 months I gathered up all the money I could get our hands on, dusted off the credit cards, reminded my husband of the Harley he had bought the year before, and headed into Bandland full steam ahead.

    Angels for pre-bandsters

I would certainly be willing to talk to a pre-bandster. I already get emails and answer a lot of questions. The neares band doctor to me, though, is several hours away. I probably wouldn't be able to visit much.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Finally got on the exercise bike for 20 minutes. Not much, but I'm very glad to have done that. I'm going to really try to do this every day.

I was just wondering where our little nightingale is, too. I hope she just hopped off for a fun weekend.

Exercise makes you smaller, not lighter

Wow! That's so cool. What a nice boost while the scale is stuck. I think how clothes fit is the real test of weight loss anyway. It leaves out all the water fluctuations.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Husbands...that's a good idea! I need one for fixing up the place, like painting and yard work. Mine doesn't have enough time for it all. But he's real good at the lovey-dovey part. I hope all goes smoothly for you Lauri. It might be just around the corner. :Bunny

    I feel like Ryan :(

Denise, I really enjoyed chicken broth. It was warm and soothing and seemed almost like food. Do you have a nice little coughing pillow? I think those are good for hugging It sounds like you are ready. So glad you husband shocked back to normal.

Penni, I hope your trip went as well as possible. This must have been very stressful since so many people are leaning on you. Get some good rest when you get home.

    My Dad has lukemia

Sorry to hear your father is facing this, as well as the rest of the family. I worry about my parents all the time now that they have entered their 70s. I hope your father feels all right and manages to overcome this disease. I hope you will have a chance to see him soon, too. Take care.

    A Nsv!

Isn't it great to toss your "big" clothes in a box to get rid of? Except for the favorites, of course. I'm trying to make all my new purchases clothes that I really, really like so they will all be favorites. I just hope I can keep them for a little while.
