I LOVE this! I made 2 hats in 3 days and LOST another half pound! (Oops! Yeah, I got on my scale again. :guess) My hands are SO busy that I am totally back on track! But tonight was not a good picture night for me, so you'll have to see the hats on another dummy. The black and white one did not turn out too well (it has lumps) but I can hardly wait to go get some more yarn. :Bunny

Well, now....that's quite an image, Paula! I was just thinking how this is a positive aspect to a man's weight loss. Losing boobage.
-
Good luck with your fill, Leatha. And congrats to Babs for digging up that motivation -- I hope it's contagious!
-
That pic reminds me of my own little ones (now 27 and 28.) I found a pair of their Hulk UnderRoos and tried to tease them about them a few years ago -- in front of their friends, of course, and they told me they were very proud of their UnderRoos. After all those years, they were still COOL. Who woulda' guessed it?!
-
Ok Michelle -- was it really painful? I got used to my C cup boobs and want them back. That's not asking for much. Actually, if they would just fill up the empty bags, that would do it. I can live with the saggy tummy.
-
That's rough, Theresa. I hope you get a fill real soon. I don't think I could let them poke me that much. I bet it didn't feel too good after a couple times! Their office doesn't sound too convenient for the fluro. I can't get that unless I have a big problem at my doc's. Don't let the frustration get to you! It will happen soon.
-
Mindi, It's a hard adjustment having restriction right off, but the results can be fantastic. Try eating real slow and eating no more than half a cup. And cut things up like Leatha said, too. Then chew it to liquid. Be sure to drink lots of Water before you eat. Try having a cup of tea before you eat to relax things. Hope things get easier for you soon.

Come in the chat room, Missy Darcy!

I am TRYING to make a hat over here. I just had to tear out several rows. You guys are VERY distracting.

I was extremely gassy after surgery -- for quite a long time. It got better. The burping gas is from the digestive system. The left pain shoulder is the abdominal inflation gas from surgery. They are different. Gas-X helped me some, but really it just took time. Walking and a heating pad help, too.
-
Estela, I forgot to mention the burping. Oh, my! I went on liquids for 3 days prior to surgery but it didn't help the gas for me. I would burp -- big painful burps -- and it would bounce against my band and couldn't get out. OUCH! This happened a lot. After a few days it got better. The nice thing is that all these memories fade and life becomes happy again soon.
-
Dan, congratulations and welcome. Estela, have you tried warm liquids and little sips? It sound like you are quite swollen and tight. It WILL get better. In the meantime, call your surgeon and tell him how much trouble you are having. If he doesn't take you seriously, call him AGAIN. Keep track of how much liquid you can get in and tell him. Hope things get better soon.

Gee, Scott, it sounds like they should have used the new larger band on you. I bet you will make that 200 by March with no problem. Men tend to lose quicker and you've had the quick start method. :ermm: I swell up quite a bit, too, although I did not swell shut. Yikes! If you end up being restricted right off like some of us, it will be a quick and dirty adjustment, but the weight loss is great. Good luck with the journey.

Wow! Penni and Sarah -- you guys are leaving it behind fast! Congrats! Hang in there, Greg. You have done wonderfully!

We just got back from running errands and DH went to a local cafe while I went to get yarn to finish my hat. He smelled like a good hamburger and I hadn't eaten. It was after noon. I told him he was in danger. I hope your hubby is gentle with you!
-
Jeepers, Betty, I was awed that you had lost 35 lbs. yesterday. Now you say it's 39! That is fantastic! And that's after you ate something solid, too! Way to go, Girl! Michelle, you just keep moving on down there. I know you'll be in the onesies this week. I couldn't believe it that I actually lost this week. Down one. That's during a stall, so I am VERY happy.
-
Teresa Does that hat take one or two skeins of yarn? Have you every done it with that new hairy yarn? :chinese
-
Yum Yum Yum! 35 pounds! WOW! :Bunny :Bunny

I wonder if we are all getting ready to hibernate. I have been hungry more and not losing for a couple weeks and am thinking about having a fill. Babs, don't you think about food less when you are filled just right? Sometimes I think we revert too easily to our old way of thinking that if we would just try harder it would be all right. I'm going to test that out with a fill later this month.
-
Thanks, Greg. I'm not worried about the poke. I had a fill and unfill already and it doesn't hurt at all. I'm concerned about the tightness and having more irritation in my esophagus. I don't want to end up on liquids again. :ermm

In California there is a fifth year after the bachelor's to get a credential. It's a very heavy program of classes and observation with at least a half year of student teaching at least one class. I was fortunate to have a master teacher who let me teach two classes for the full year. She let me totally take over the classes, while still training me. I think the units are close to a master's degree, but we don't get the degree. Our schools have to pay more for teachers with masters, so don't always want them. Do you do any student teaching in Oregon?

Some doctors in other countries --and some in the states, I think-- use half saline and half gel in the band. That keeps it from seeping out so much. It seems that some people lose a lot of Fluid and some don't lose any. I had a fat tummy (on the inside) because I haven't needed a fill for 5 months. But now it is time. Nov. 19th if all goes well. My insides swell and hurt terribly whenever they are messed with, so I'm not looking forward to it.
-
What a great way to start on your banding journey! Hope your recovery is just as easy.

Thanks, Teresa! I was going to look for a crochet pattern for Christmas. This is PERFECT! :Bunny I can't wait to get started. Also glad you like your 6th grade experience. I loved that age. I am a high school teacher (usually 8th grade, but taking a long leave right now) and it's nice to hear there are enthusiastic new people joining the ranks. P.S. Penni! You look so cute in that hat!

If You Loose You Hair, Will It Grow Back.
Rebeccalee replied to adoorme9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa brings up a good point. No one noticed that I lost any hair -- and I lost a lot. And no one noticed that my hair is much shorter, because it still falls a little below my shoulders (used to be to my waist.) It doesn't really show that much if you have a normal thickness of hair.
