I know I need to discuss this with my surgeons office, but I was wondering if you guys had an idea.... I've had bad migraines my entire life, and artificial sweeteners are big triggers for me. No Crystal Light, no sugar free Popsicles, etc. How will I make the Pre-op diet work?

Surgery is scheduled for the 24th. I've always had such irrational fears of dying during surgery (I've had numerous surgeries in the past). Matter of fact, I was going to have LapBand surgery back in 2004, but chickened out a week before surgery. I made all kinds of silly excuses then. I was going to do it on my own, and here I am, fatter than ever. I don't know how to get past this fear. It consumes me even more than I can possibly express. That being said, I do know that continuing to live the lifestyle I do now will result in an early death. I'm just scared and so embarrassed to admit this.

Thank you! I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of kids being without a mom. I've done a lot of praying and will continue to do so, and cry too.

You're right, and I know this, I'm just crazy I suppose. This surgery should be no different than the previous ones. I have even had a couple of laparoscopic surgeries. I know what to expect. I probably should see my doctor. It is completely situation induced. Once I wake up from surgery, I'm good to go.

Honestly, I've never tried Stevia. It wasn't worth the gamble for me as a bad migraine can lay me up for days. I can live without all the above mentioned things, for sure. Just concerned about getting through the Pre-op diet. I'll definitely talk to my surgeon.

I want to look in a mirror or window at my reflection as I walk by while shopping. I don't want to be the fat mom at my daughters school any more. I want to have great sex! . I want to wear a pair of Louis Vuitton or Jimmy Choo shoes with an awesome pair jeans. Really, the list is so long. I could keep going and going...

I'm Becky from the DFW area. I'm 36, a mom to 3 great kiddos, and so ready to be the best mom I can be. I had my consult with Dr. Smith's office yesterday. Unfortunately, my insurance has an exclusion for bariatric surgery, but my amazing family has found a way for me to have surgery. I am calling Monday to get the ball rolling. Going in, I had wanted the gastric sleeve procedure, but have decided to go with band with plication. Shooting for a surgery date around the first of November. I look forward to getting to know you all!
