Glad to find others over 60. My RNY surgery was 10/15/12. I started the process in February, 2012 at 236. Came home from the hospital at 218 and I'm 189 as of this morning. I hope all of you are doing well too. Shirley Caylor, Hot Springs, AR

I've found that going to places like Perkins, Ihop, Dixie Cafe or Waffle House have been the easiest to find meals that would work for me. Any place that allows ala cart vegetables works good. I normally have something like black eyed peas or bean soup.

Good Luck to you in going through this. We as a group will be here to support you as much as you need. My doctor insisted that we bring a family member to all appointments and even had a form to be signed by the spouse/family member. Your's may have a similar conditional form. My insurance company had a bunch of hoops for us to jump through before they would approve the surgery. I'm sure at some point during this process your wife will see that you are serious and will give you the support you need. As for telling her family, don't worry about that. Hi, I'm Shirley and I'm new here. I have just had my pre-surgery consultation with my surgeon and he has scheduled my surgery for October 15, 2012. My insurance company has required me to jump throught all sorts of hoops since February and I think everything is now done and I can get approved. Keep your fingers crossed for me if you would. I've just posted my profile here and I'm looking for a support buddy. I want to find someone who is at about the same spot or slightly ahead of me so that we can talk about concerns we have with the surgery. I'm having the RNY and know I will have all kinds of questions. I live in Hot Springs, Arkansas and it would be great if some of you live near here and would like to have a walking or exercise group that we could do together.
