    Question I received Yesterday

Maybe she was asking for more information in her way and she didn't know how, if she is a big girl her self , and when you told her your Doctor asked you , you want to live or die , then maybe she got scared and ran to phone or a computer to find out about wls lol just saying , remember some people don't under stand if they really haven't done any research so we need to educate them a bit if they ask and let them know we tried every diet in the world , but our tool helps us to know when to really say when, ,maybe she, was just surprised and didn't mean to hurt your feelings, so that's why she didn't ask more, I know for me the people that know me know not to ask me anything I don't want to share so unless I bring it up they don't ask lol.

Hello everyone -- AF vet here

Ok men and women , Remember are here to support each other and you know the saying every one has a opinion and opinion are like well you know every one has one , we try o talk about just our personal experiences , not every one else's , because what's working for you may not work for some one else so pleas just share , and for the people that they might want to get banded , please do your research and if you decide to get banded listen and always ask your Doc, any questions or concerns you may have , Skywalker decide what you want to do , and what you decide good luck and welcome to the forum, specially if you decide banded.

    Pre Op Hospital List

I have a bad back and meant to bring my hot water bottle , but left it at home a lot of people like heating pads for back or stomach and some sweats or something loose fitting , I did bring a little pillow for the ride home so the seat belt wouldn't touch stomach , extra under wear, and people are saying gas x strips , make sure and ask for pain meds if needed and sandalls or slip on shoes , well that's all I can think of right now you type in what to bring for Lap band surgery , there is a list that is helpful , well good luck on your journey.

I'm 84 this spring & love my lapband.

I had my band put in Sept. 2012 and I have lost I think so far 94 lbs , I will lose 150, when I get to my goal and I love my band. I selected the VSG (vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) because of it's "finality" and less complications than the band. The downside is that it is more dangerous than the band during the initial surgery and, if complications post surgery do happen, age comes into play regarding successful recovery. Weight loss is quicker with the Sleeve. Personally, I think the Band would be a safer way to go for older patients that have no co-morbidities and less weight to loose. The band can be reversed relatively easy. The Sleeve cannot be reversed - and, as previously mentioned that is one reason it appeals to me. I don't need anything that I know I can undo and/ or cheat with. Do your own investigation, talk to people who have had the surgeries, discuss it with a Bariatic surgeon, attend a seminar, make sure you have your spouses' and family support and then make your OWN decision. Thanks for the good words. Of course, I added that last bit of "wisdom" at no additional charge assuming you have not had the surgery yet?!? :-)

I just thought I would ask , why does your surgery say it is gastric sleeve , are you getting sleeved or the lap band , their are different weight loss surgeries , that's why I am asking ,and there are some different issues with the different types , well I was just curious, good luck on wich ever you are doing.

My stomach growls big time right after I eat. I think this is my stonechat working to digest the small amount of good I am eating, as a matter of fact I can actually hear my stomach loud and clear , and feel it rumbling. It is not an issue for me .

    I love my daycare kids

That is great , kids like apples and oranges so maybe that's some fruit dice it up and put it in the salad and have them try your lighter version , they may like it , als it is nice that the kids are involved to be healthier, I bet the parents are loving it also and the kids t to make choices , healthy ones , that they will eat , maybe Michelle Obama , will see this and know you are doing good.

  12. As I have said it is every ones personal choice and every body is different , and in all things we choose , we can decide as we are adults if what we choose to do for our selves , I just know for me I made the right decision and I feel it everyday how much more I can do.

    Correct Me If Im Wrong

You're right , we are suppose to do liquid if we can or smash our meds or break them down so we can swallow them , maybe you can tell the doc or ask the pharmists if they can give you liquid form somehow , becaue you don't want it getting stuck and that you are a lapband patient.

    Lap Band Talk?

Some times some people that are not or even had a fill will be able to eat solids , but just follow doctors instructions for post op eating and you will be fine , yes we all get scared at first and if you are not sure about any thing put that call in to the doc to make sure so it will ease your mind , to me you sound o k , but if it was me I would call my doc. to ease my mind .
  18. Debbie3sons

    Post-Fill Diet ?

2 days liquids , then mushies for a day then back to solids , at least that is what my Doctor surgeon says to me.

    Emotional Struggle

I will tellyou it was hard for me as I had to smell everything my family was cooking , and yes you know I wanted to eat it but I wanted my life and more important health back as I was walking with a cane and my body was sore all the time and I just wanted to sleep , it does get better I will tell you that , but I snapped at family and cried a lot , but then I just tried to stay in my room for about 3 days , yes I would pop out to see what was going on , but someone was always either eating drinking or making something , so I started reading a book or just started watching movies and I did walk around my living room a few times , then I would just tell them I was tired and go back to my room , when the second or third week I think I told my doctor if I don't get even a table spoon of substance that I was going to bite everyone's head off lol , so he said I could have a tbsp. of either refried beans or mashed potatoes, but that is my doc , and it helped then I still had my sugar free jello, pudding or popsicles , but it is hard , if you want it bad enough though I am sure you will get through it , I know I kept in the back of my mind that I paid to much money to have something go wrong , good luck you will get through it .

    Curiosity....

If your on this site look at where it says Magazine on the top and click on there then go to lapband surgery , and it will take you there then on the right look where it says pre op and it will give you some good info. on what you should take , then you can always look at post op also to be pre pared, good luck.

    Slippage cost?

Please let us know when you find out if any thing , because I also have Blue cross anthem ppo, so it would be nice to know , I do think it depends on our ins, and what the hospital or Surgeon also costs, so please keep us posted , and how did you find out that you had a slipped band , let us banders know if you we're having pain or what troubles you were having , not that we want to scare any one you might help one of us just to see what we might be experiencing if it ever happens to one of us fellow banders , as I always call or text my surgeon if I think something might be wrong and am not sure , so I go to my doc first, because he is the one who would know and be able to give me answers,
