If I pee my pants ... or maybe I should just thank the makers of mini pads and laugh till it hurts or squirts... whichever comes first! Maybe they should make a lapband safety harness???? Hmmmm... something to ponder... You're a funny sweet and terribly helpful gal ... still giggling... Darcy

Hiya Sheila... I think I will go online and order a few samles of the unjury... I tried the powder that I ordered and gagged it down mixed with yogurt. I think I will try it blended with milk and ice to see if that is a little better. I am sticking to the whey types of powder as that is what the nutritionist said to get. I am also looking for a good liquid Vitamin and have seen many different types available online... I don't think I need one as complicated as the ones that were designed for gastric bypasses so will will browsing for a regular ole MVI in liquid form or chewable. Thanks for the info... Darcy

Hi Chantal, It sounds like your life is pretty darn busy but sometimes the healthiest thing you can do for your family and even your marital relationship is take time for yourself. It's been my experience that people will take as long as you are willing to give but they will also respect you for putting your foot down and taking the time to care for yourself. I was a single Mom for years and I look back and see how food became my friend... food was there for me when I was tired...lonely... scared... worried... anxious... depressed... and now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it... not very friendly of me now is it! I also can relate to the fear of being without my protective layer of fat... it has helped me keep people at a distance. Quite frankly... after growing up being made fun of on a daily basis... having a horribly disfunctional family... people Scare me to death sometimes! Maybe therapy that includes your hubby would be a good idea? I think that marriage counseling is a worthwhile endeavor as it sometimes get things out in the open and does help teach better ways of communicating. The counseling didn't save my first marriage... but it did give me insight to the relationship I was in and helped me really SEE the man that I had chose for my mate... not a good choice I must say! Depression is a terrible thing... I suffered for years before I finally asked my primary care M.D. for help. I felt I should be able to handle things on my own... and tried that for many years. I finally gave in a little over a year ago and started taking Zoloft. I did see a counselor as well... but that wasn't the helpful part... it was the medication that made a world of difference for me. After a year of taking the medication I have now weaned off the Zoloft as my Doc instructed and I am doing well so far! Take time for yourself Chantel... if your hubby won't watch the kiddlings then perhaps your mom will... even if it is just to take a long drive alone with your thoughts! Give yourself a break girl! Take care my friend... Darcy

Awesome info Leo! I'm going to go fill up my 32oz jug right now!

Hi Ed, Welcome! I'm waiting to be banded as well so I can't answer many of your questions but wanted to say hello and welcome you just the same! From what I have read it seems that every doctor is different in what they require pre-op and post-op. My Surgeon does not require the liquid diet before the surgery and then Clear liquids the first day post-op... full liquids the second day post-op and then onto pureed for two weeks.... and so on. Good luck to both you and you wife... you'll find everyone here to be very helpful. Darcy

Greetings from the big city!
nightingale2u replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Trixie! I'm not from your neck of the woods but I do agree that this is a great site! It's easy to navigate and everyone is very friendly and helpful. I hope that your band has been working well for you! Darcy -
Hiya Melissa... Just thought I would check in on ya! Good Luck with your surgery and keep us updated on how you are doing. Your last weekend unbanded! You lucky duck! Darcy

Hi All Kombat- I haven't been banded but my nutritionist told me to find a supplement that has approximately 20 grams of Protein, 15 grams or less of carbohydrate, 2 grams of Fiber or less early post-op and less than 200 calories per serving. Just have to start reading the ole labels and find one that you like. (o: Joann- Thanks so much for the information... I'll have to give that a try... would be nice to have something I can pick if I am in town or even on a trip somewhere. Darcy

Hey Chantel... You Rock!!!!! It twas veeeeeeeeeery hard for me to come here and fess up but it had ta be done! This brings me to another talent in which I was definitely not gifted with... lying... I totally suck at it...lol. I think it comes from being raised with the "guilt" method of child upbringing. I'm just going to have to do what they say and be extremely hungry for two weeks. Let's see... I ate an egg and FF yogurt for Breakfast and a Lean Cuisine for lunch... that's it so far today *grumble grumble grumble*. That was coming from my mouth and my stomach! Oh... lets not forget the 3/32 oz containers of Water that I sucked on like a freaking infant to keep myself from blowing chunks d/t stomach pain. This had better be good enough for them or I am going to go POSTAL:confused: I love your comparison to quitting smoking... that was SOOOOOOOOOO right on the money! My kitchen is now a lovely creamy yellow after my day of painting... dang... it looks good enough to EAT! :cry You take care too... one of these days I am going to be on the banded side... but until then everyone here may just have to help me stay afloat. Good Luck to you too and thanks so much!!!! Darcy

Hanging my head in shame :think Well Chantal... I feel horrible... feel like I let myself down and you down. I gave in and bought a pack. Not that it is a good excuse... but the frustration of dealing with the bariatric team has been unbelievable. Last week they told me they FORGOT to call me after their review... they decided they wouldn't approve my seeing Dr. Chua until I faxed my food records (two weeks worth) AHHHHHHHHHHHHH... so... I faxed them yesterday... they called me back and said that I am eating too much and too often (duh) and that they want me to be successful so they want me to record two more weeks. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH This is not what they told me at my appointment and I met every single goal they set forth. THis is the first summer I have had off with my daughter... EVER... I wanted so bad to be able to lose enough weight that we could do things like swimming and biking and rollar blading... things I either feel to self-conscious to do or just can't handle physically. So... I am powerless in the bariatric situation and now obviously the smoking. THey knew that I had just quit smoking but it is apparently more important that I adhere to a bandlike diet... it seems they would have taken that into consideration when looking at my food records. Sorry for venting... it did make me feel better and sorry for puffing... but as GOd as my witness... I will quit smoking if it's the last thing I do! I hope you hang in there Chantal... if you can do it... then I know there is hope that I can too! I consider this a setback... not a failure. I just reek... shame on me. Darcy

Woo Hoo Gretat!!!! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing so well and am hoping that I can do as well after I am banded! It's so nice to have an idea of what to expect after surgery! Darcy

Wow... now reading all of that was quite and earfull! I am new around town but I can tell you that I feel extremely comfortable at this site and have garnished much of the information I was looking for. I think the fact that this site is not as hugely busy as Spotlight is why I feel comfortable. I like being able to really get to know othe members. It's probably because I am a country girl at heart.... the big city gives me hives! I do spread the word about this site because I truely think it is awesome and I hope that it never turns into a Spotlight type site. LapBandTalk seem JUUUUUUSSSST right to me! Alexandra... It's so funny... I do the same thing here and save my woes for my private journaling or other less populated sites...I have asked myslef frequently why I do that???? I think it comes from years of just being happy if another person liked me... it's almost taboo for a heavy person to be anything but happy...jolly and funny. I like it so much hear that I just don't want to bug everybody with my probs. and by gosh... I should be able to solve them for myself shouldn't I??? Sue... I don't feel that I fit into any of those catagories... I'm always early... quiet as a mouse unless you ply me with alcohol or I know everyone REALLY well... endure the process because I know it usually amounts to some level of success... am considerate of others and their ideas and personal space but really would like the same in return... I dunno... what the heck number does that make me???? Anyhoo... it is just my opinion... but I think this site is great just the way it is . (o: I think if there is a site that one likes because of the increased number of members... just ignore the posts by the person that bugs ya. Nobody can irritate you if you choose not to let them. Just my two cents... Darcy

Hey Jen... Sent off a PM to ya... yes... the Patches really do help!
-
Thanks Nancy... I could always tell when someone was a smoker when I would give an injection at the clinic I worked at... the skin would be tough as could be. I wouls also look at some of our heavy smoking patients and see that they looked so much older than their years. I don't know why that didn't spur me on to quit... I mean holy cow... it's bad enough to be getting older... I sure don't want to LOOK older than I am! It's a terrible habit... I wish they would just take the darn things off of the market. Oshkosh just officially went Non-smoking... businesses are up in arms and smokers are really ticked off... ME... I am like WOO HOO!!!!! Thanks again for even more encouraging words! Darcy

Bon Jour Chantal! (Accent used... well... I tried....hehehehe) I'm doing okay... I went through a period of depression... missed the nasty ole habit that follwed me through 18 years of my life. I think I am finally done with that and just enjoying the freedom and the pride that goes along with success! I have hidden this habit from so many people in my life... including my daughter... that made the habit even more stressful... was always sneaking around like a theif in the night just to have a smoke! It has helped that I never smoked in my home or car or in social situations... none of those places trigger a need to smoke. It's mostly in a time of stress or frustration that I long for the nasty ole cigs. I know what you mean about visiting the Doc... I'm an LPN and went to great extremes to keep my habit from all of those I worked with... especially the Doc I worked for... I also would fib when I went to the MD when sick... but you know... it did make a difference in how I was treated if I told them I smoked... like I deserved to be sick. WE are definitely going to make it Chantal... I can just smell the success in the air! (o: Au Revoir? (It's been years and years since French Class in high school... lol... hope I spelled that right!) Darcy

Mate can eat and eat and never gain
nightingale2u replied to Sunnyone41's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sunnyone, I know what you mean... my hubby and I have similar appetites as well and he still looks like a hotty... me... not so much! It sounds like he will be able to eat all of the stuff you will be too full for without any trouble! I think you will be full with your smaller amounts of food and you will be eating much slower so you both will be able to enjoy your meals differently but just as much as before! The one thing my Hubby and I have decided on is that after the surgery we will avoid buffets... in fact we are already avoiding them! He is practicing "mindful" eating right along with me. Darcy -
Hi Mickey! Congratulations on being banded and sounds like you are doing a terrific job with you new weight-loss tool! You'll find much info and support here! Darcy

I have only told family about my decision to have the Lap Band. I think I will want to share it with my friends eventually... but not for awhile.
