So glad to hear that things are back on track for you Bailey!
-
Well ar least you are brave Bailey... you asked... I didn't know what that meant either and very glad you asked! Now we can both wait for the answer! I proudly join the ranks of the "feeling stupid" club and ask... what is NSV????
-
Woo Hoo Chantal... you go girl!!!!! Can't wait to join ya! I will probably keep my ediets membership going just so that I can graph my weightloss ... it'll be sooooo nice to watch the bars go downward instead of up! You keep that up and you are gonna have to send me all of your baggy britches! Darcy
-
Just wanted to welcome you to the site Rickol... good luck with everything! Darcy
-
Welcome Lala, I'm going the the whole process of getting banded as well! This is a great site with oodles of info and lots of helpful people just like Donali! Good luck with everything and hope you are banded soon! Darcy
-
Hiya DeLarla... soooooo glad to hear that you are feeling a wee bit better and that you are staying home for some much needed healing/rest. Having the upper respiratory infection and freshly banded... sounds like a recipe for veggin out to me! Get well soon!
-
I'm so happy for you Chantal!!!! I bet you look terrific but I can totally understand how you are feeling. It will be very strange to think that I will be losing weight and it won't be finding me again. I'm sure it will take awhile before I can let myself trust that I will be able to get rid of my fat clothes as I lose. I hope I am able to use my band as well as you are! Our day is coming Debra... for now we can enjoy doing the happy dance for those that are showing us just how great the band is as a weight loss tool! *applause and more applause* Chantal Darcy
-
That's great Bailey!!! I think you are right... approval should be approval! Sorry that you had to go through a few more hoops but it sounds like it will go pretty quick once they have that letter from you PCP. Let us know what happens! Darcy
-
So sorry Bailey... the process is frustrating but I can say that I was required to list all of the different weight-loss attempts ... how much was lost... how much regained... when and for how long. I gave all of that info to my PCP along with my family health history and he dictated note that included some of the major attempts at weight-loss ... family hx of obesity... health problems related to my obesity as well as his professional opinion that WLS would not be unreasonable in my case and should be considered. Sending you hugs... can just feel your frustration and hope once you gather this info that everything will be back on track! Darcy

Dateline NBC: Weigh to Go, Mom!
nightingale2u replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it will Alex... at least I had heard of it when I started my research... unfortunately you have to dig pretty deep and talk to those who actually have the band to get past the different studies that appear to show that the banding is not as effective as the GBP. I really do think that is changing just for the fact that more surgeons are offering the band. I wouldn't want a war against the GBP... just would love to see more information out there regarding all types of WLS. My sister had the GBP and is very happy with her choice and with the results but she does say that she might have chosen the band had surgeon she chose been offereing that option. It was really watching her go through the whole process that led me to want something less drastic... her recovery was long and difficult. It was also seeing that eventually she was thin and happy and by all appearances healthy that led me to consider it as an option if I was denied the Lap Band. -

You are so right Big Dog... the first surgeons that I went to basically all but said this to the group in regards to the Lap Band... "It's obvious that you all have trouble controlling yourself and you didn't get this way by eating foods that are good for you... so... if you have doubts about your ability to control yourself... the Lap Band is not for you." I think every person in this world has moments where they lack self-control but that played on my own feelings of self-doubt and I was crushed. I am just thankful that my insurance did not cover my seeing those surgeons and that my next choice was a pro-banding M.D. I did not want the GBP but would have done it if I was led to believe that the Band would not work for me... my husband was also greatly relieved as the thought of my having the GBP scared him to death. -
Oh Dear DeLarla... I know I can't help a single darn bit but it looks like Donali has it covered... I just wanted you to know that I am keeping my fingers, toes, legs and everything else crossed that you will feel better soon. Our bodies are famous for letting us know when we have overdone it and all I can say is that is sounds like yours is yelling that it needs more time to heal. I'm sure that this time next week you will be back to feeling like yourself ... hang in there girl. Darcy

Welcome KimmiB! I would imagine that we all go through pretty similar feelings from before band to after band. (o: RIght now I am excited to have things moving towards getting insurance approval but am sure I will get nervous and scared when I get to the time of actually having the surgery done. Wishing you all the best in your journey to bandland and keep us ladies and gentlemen in waiting updated! With every person that I see go through the process I am more and more comfortable and certain of my own choice. (o: Good Luck! Darcy -
I think we are set Jen... I also get a million offers for Vicodin in my Yahoo mailbox as well as a million more unmentionable types! I have Spam gaurd on... not that it really makes a big difference! Let me know if you round up any takers...hehehehe.

I didn't see this program but I can tell you that there is definitey not enough positive information about the band out there for people to see. The first informational meeting I went to for WLS was with two surgeons that were not pro-band and I walked away very disappointed and thinking that the GBP was going to be my only choice. I was SO relieved after attending Dr. Chua's informational meeting as he gave very different and and positive information on the banding option. I felt a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders and that I really could make the band work for me. I am anxious to have the surgery and plan on being a success story as I want to be able to blab the attributes far and wide! -
Welcome back and glad everything went so well! Sounds like the "chunck of plastic" is already helping out. (o: Darcy
-
Welcome back DeLarla!!!!!! You'll start feeling better now that you are home and away from the hottie doctor and the naked jay walkers! We missed ya! Darcy
-
Oh... and Dr. Jen... I also have some quilting needles and decorative thread...
-
Nah Jen... as long as you have a butter knife and a couple of washclothes you should be ready to go! I think we should all get a fully operational BANDana as part of our hospital discharge instructions... ya think???? Hey Debra... Bandtwins... I love it!!! I was beginning to lose hope of having surgery before July... ahhhh... what a feeling...hope renewed! I know a little fear will creep in once things are actually scheduled... but I say... BRING IT ON!!!! You are a lucky girl Miss Deb... wanna trade places???? :cry hehehehe (((((((((hugs)))))))))))
-
LOLOLOL... why didn't I think of that... I was just thinking that as comfortable as it was on my thumb that I thought we would get along JUST fine. (o: Darcy
-
OTAY... Consult done...WHEW! I tell ya... driving in the city could really give this girl a nervous breakdown! The consult with Dr. Chua was great... I didn't have a lot of questions so it went pretty quick. It was cool to actually see the band and see how it works with my own eyes. (o: Dr. Chua said they would send my information as well as his letter on Tuesday... am really hoping to have surgery within the first two weeks of June. I am so happy just to have the ball rolling! I'm pretty darned ready. Darcy
-
